Living in Extreme Isolation! The neighbours visit in helicopters 🚁 (Ep205)
Life on a remote outback Australian station is like nothing else in the world and unless you've experienced it for yourself then it is very hard to comprehend.
Well guess what we are going to bring this unique way of life right to your living room so you don't even need to get dirty.
We have taken a short contract as station hands on Girrawheen Station in western New South Wales. Girrawheen Station covers 140,000 acres of land over several properties and runs around 12,000 Dorper sheep.
The closest supermarket is 250km away and sometimes stations can be cut off from the outside world for weeks at a time due to flooding.
How do people live out here? What about power, water, supplies, groceries, postal services, medical support and schooling?
We will answer all these questions and much much more over the next series of videos.
Enjoy this taste of true Australian outback life and this is only the beginning, stay tuned for the adventure of a lifetime.
Join us as we travel the world overland, exploring the cultures and traditions of all the countries we visit.
In our Land Rover Defender camper which is our full time home we will take you rock climbing, hiking and exploring across all the continents on this planet.

What an interesting video! It's such a different life, hard and original. You have to be able to do everything there: welding, planting, shooting, tending, and so on. I'm looking forward to more videos from your time there! Greetings from Bavaria/Germany
This is by far the most interesting overlanding channel. Thank you for sharing

Thank you so much. There is a lot of different stuff in our channel , that’s for sure. 😊
Love it! Nothing beats farm life
How beautiful is the NSW outback absolutely loving it…it would’ve been awful out there a couple of years ago during the last big drought driving from Broken Hill to Wentworth it was as so dry, how dry, “dry as a dead dingos donga!” No honestly it’s was devastating ❤️ hope the owners benefited from the big wet we’ve had lately. Actually hope your not leaving to soon still heaps to see in this awesome country ❤️

Thank you. We would like to include a section on future video on the drought explained by the owners.
My ignorance of Australian geography and failing to visit wouldn't have thought NSW to have any desert. Cheers to you for the lesson.
Wow as someone who barely has room for two cars next to each other the Australian stations look so vastly amazingly peaceful, in a brutally hard working and disconnected kind of way. I think I would like to live and work on one for 6 months such a different life.
Loving this part of your journey guys. Really hope to bump into you before you leave Oz.
Awesome guys, thanks for taking us along.
What a fascinating place and lifestyle. Looking forward to more!
It's mind-boogling to see the distances in Australia.
Stephie makes a good farmers Girl! 👍 With all the rain of the last months, the reserves are filled, must last for two years!!!⛲ Have fun. 😂😎
This is so much fun to see for someone who lived his whole life in a city! So different from what I am used to. Some time I will experience this by myself. Thanks for sharing! Kind regards from Germany
Super cool and absolutely interesting! Have a great time on this station. 🎉
Life is rough in the semi dessert places. Very interesting and fun video. Looks like more fun than sheepherding in the mountains for a summer at least there is someone else around that speaks english. Hope you are having fun and they get a little rain soon. Stay safe and healthy.
Loved this Leigh and Steph. Thank You. ❤🇦🇺🦘
Its fantastic to see you guys giving it a go in the out back. Great video and innovation to find a phone signal.
You are both awesome. Living your best life.
Love all your videos, especially the Australian ones which have shown us parts of the country we may never get to see even though we live here. The information you provide is helping us plan our overland trip to Africa.
You guys are a great couple and are truly living your lives!!
Hi Guys, First time commenting, long time subscriber. I just wanted to say that I have watched most of your episodes and your both are a refreshing breath of fresh air to me. You both have such a positive outlook on life, always smiling and go to the most beautiful parts of Australia (World). Please keep doing what you do for as long as you can and I'd like to thank you for sharing your travels with us. Thanks Roger

The Hydroplat (3 wheel elevated work platform) at the 12:16 mark is one of my Dad's that he has built. Originally Manning Engineering and then Schulz Repair and Sales. Built in the small Riverland town of Loxton, SA. Was pretty chuffed to see one out in rural NSW 😊
Very cool guys.
Hi, Thanks for sharing your adventures. Really enjoying watching. Are you planning to visit Victoria? There’s lots to see and take in. Cheers, Andy.

You two make a great jackaroo and jillaroo team! Not many French speaking jillaroos I’m guessing.

What great episode. Really nice work Steph. Love the new barbie. There might be a bit of explaining for non Aussies. "Chooks", and "I love fanny". Totally different meaning in the US.

Thanks so much mate. We'll make the big decision later this year or early next year. I guess it will have to be wherever travel is going to be the most accessible and the least restrictions on movement...
Amazing! Here in Africa you'll never be able to collect your weekly mail delivery. It will be stolen.
Great Vid. And for sure a great experience. I’m wondering how the water is kept drinkable in this big tanks…. I can highly recommend to support via Patreon, as the insights there also very, very interesting ;-) Cheers and thanks for sharing

Buy your self a satellite dish ,for internet access.
Well I think you're right now are staying out in the middle of nowhere literally I was going to see you might want to get a satellite hotspot so that way you'll have reliable fast internet okay other than that have a good day 🐾😉🖖
Have you guys looked into starlink for internet?

We did mentioned it to the station owners and they are looking into it. for ourselves we don't really have anywhere to put the big satellite dish.

@@GrizzlyNbearOverland and it is not currently available in mobile form outside of Ukraine. Starling is first focussing on getting critical mass in urban areas. In theory, once it is profitable and they have enough sats up it might be an option.
