that's pure over engineering . thanks anyway
That would have been nice to have a month ago as I was burning up boards on a disc sander. Do you have any brick and mortar( I'm in Denver area) or just online?
We have a factory outside Denver…but not a retail store. Some people stop by to pick up orders…it to drop off guitars for Plek service. But this needs to be done by appointment. Call the number on our website if you need help. Thanks for watching.
When I put steel grommets into guitar necks, I just put the insert bit into my drill press and (obviously with the power off) use the perfectly vertical pressure from the press and I turn the chuck with my bare hand. The other fantastic feature of the steel grommets are if you use four recessed neck ferrules instead of a plate, it's much easier to find metric bolts of various lengths, or even cut a longer bolt down. It's much more difficult to find the short wood screws necessary for a tapered neck heel to keep the bolts from poking all the way through.
Great vid process ect... did part 2 ever materialize
Do the telecaster templates and the telemaster templates fit fender necks if i just want to build the body?
Do your telecaster and telemaster templates fit fender necks if i just want to build the body? Great videos
Do you sell those guitar templates?
Yes. Although it wasn’t my intention…it became a business. maximumguitarworks.com Call the number on the website if you need help.
The adjustable pocket template can be accomplished with three pieces of mdf taped to the blank around the heel of your neck lined up to the center line to the line drawn for the scale length. The route (tweaked with tape) will match that particular neck. I use a cheap laser to line the neck up with the blank's center line.
Cool
Good video
great job! i need to do this to my strat with striped wood screws.... anyway you could ditch the nut driver and chuck your home made driver into the drill press, spin the chuck by hand while putting small amount of pressure on handle for leverage.... a little wax and they go in dead straight every time...
I very, very much appreciate these videos for their expertise, however, anybody contemplating their very first guitar build would likely never set foot on that path having watched this series. Sometimes, you just have to have at it, and be damned with all the jigs. You just have to give it a go and learn from your mistakes.
At 22:00 Steve could use the special tool he says he doesn't like by setting it into the chuck of his drill press - the perfect perpendicularity of the alignment is still assured from drilling the original holes! - and then start turning the chuck by hand while gently pressing down on the plunge handle of the press. Most drill presses are designed to allow such hand-turning of the chuck...
Question regarding planing the neck blank down to the desired thickness - I don't have a planer, but I do have a jointer. Would that also work to get it down to the thickness I want?
Not ideal…but possible. You will have to pay attention to all four corners of the blank…and take light passes on the jointer. I have found that you can put more pressure with the push blocks over the thicker ends/sides…and slowly make adjustments to make the sides flat and parallel. It’s not easy…but possible.
I just did a belly cut and forearm bevel with an orbital sander Works really well
Great video 👍👍 do you sell this templates ?? Thanks Lars
Yes. Go to the website…many different template sets available there. maximumguitarworks.com
Your video are so great! Thanks for sharing your expert knowledge!!
Goodnight! I was wondering what this mold is for? I watched the whole video thinking I would have an answer, but I stayed the same. If it's not due to my lack of education, I can ask you and see how the mold is used more trade after it's ready. Thank you very much in advance for your attention and congratulations on the very good KZread channel.
Answer is at 42:03
This is great! Looking forward to binge watching the rest of this series! Lots of great info already!
Man, I‘m so glad I came across this video. I didn‘t know you had a KZread channel until today. I‘ve heard a lot about you through Todd‘s videos over at Sweet T Guitars. I have seen him do this and am planning on doing the same in my first electric build. Thanks for the detail! I appreciate it. I am now subscribed as well!
You don't really need perpendicular holes. You need co-linear holes. So drill a smaller pilot hole thru both the body and neck. Then drill at the needed diameters
Great to see decent engineering principles being applied to an age old problem. I think Leo himself would've approved. Would be interesting to see if unplugged resonance could even result for the couch surfers amongst us.
No mask?
Great video, what thickness of aluminium are you using?
Hey man. So nice to see your setup. Looks awesome. Thanks for the shout out
What would be the best way to round over the edge after you make the cut? Would it done by hand?
I like the clean-ness and uniformity of your templates. Mine all look terrible, (either baltic birch or MDF) but still work, but would be nice to have some of these. Great job
Cool video! I just subscribed, gonna check out some of your other videos rn
I always said that using inserts the modern way !
Lucky my neck I bought was a SCREW on neck. ;+)
An equal length and geometry of the cross section is important when comparing the stifness. The titanium has a different dimensions, according to it´s cross section, than the maple and carbon rods.
Thanks for the good tips you provide. I made a cheap tool for positioning the tailpiece kzread.info/dash/bejne/Znuqyc2roL2fiLw.htmlsi=Kfd-SJYdX8KD308w
very interesting but the scale you are using came from aliexpress and is false i have 2 of them and they dtgive the same reading.
Just grab it with both hands and head over to your belt sender. 30 seconds, DONE.
Do you build and sell these guitar jigs? Tom Sisson
Thanks! This is very helpful and fun ✌🏼
Would love to see the same pressure test on finished necks since the wood and reinforcement make the total package.
Perfect amount of time. If a person can't deal with important info to teach something that is very useful they shouldn't be watching in the 1st place. Let them learn the hardway and wishing they had watched this the 1st time and did it correctly. If they had want to watch short uninformative videos they deserve to get problems and they will with anything that requires attention span. They probably shouldn't even be playing guitar, it takes attention and time to learn.
Eu tenho uma pergunta. Com essa máquina é possível cortarmos canos de latão de 1/4?
Great comparison and very informative. Technically, you are measuring load at a specific beam deflection. Since the cross-sections of the beams you are testing differ from sample to sample, it’s not quite a pure analysis of the strength of each material as much as it is a comparison of the beams with the predominant factor being the difference in strength of each material plus the geometric effects. One nit is that you are measuring load, which is in pounds and this is not a pressure but rather a force. Hope this helps and thanks for your analysis.
I watched the whole thing... Every minute. 🤘🏻
This saw is no longer available. is there another you would suggest ?
i could find any mojo, so i settled for coffee instead....? edit is that the right joe???? jo now imconfused....
Do you have project plans available for purchase so I can build one?
I like the tool but don't want to sit there and pull it through the other side ... Is an "auto feed/advance" available? Subbed, Belled, thums up. Thanks
Never mind, I just heard it on your video. My Bad! lol
Where do you get the heat activated dry ink transfers made?

You are the greatest example of how detail is so important, just watching this video shows your experience. Thanks!
good ok
