    I'm sure PSA is good, that 500.00 difference will not go away it will still be worth $500 more than the other weapon no matter what happens, so as time goes by it will be worth more than the PSA. Why not spend the money now. We are talking about knockoffs of an M16 which is illegal so it's more or less the civilian version, I went ahead and got the Colt A-4. I've already put like 50/60 rounds through it I can tell you it's fires very well. I had a Ruger AR 556 which was more expensive than a PSA but I got my money back out of it when I got rid of it. It's also Chrome lined which my Ar 556 Ruger was too.

    PSA makes a decent weapon, Sam Colt is one of the premier gun makers of all time, why Colt is not more popular I am not sure anymore, still popular with some people I know. They make the best AR style weapons, we know that. They make the best 1911, for the money. Mine is nearly perfect, in every way. And, it seems better than Glock, no question on a higher level of gun than a Glock .45, ammo capacity is whatever. HK and Walther, also FN make a .45 all worth consideration, as well as Sig. I see Glock moving towards the bottom of the .45 barrel, or 10mm. PSA offers a good value, for a AR-15 it's okay. Any AR style weapon should be okay, if it works. I have some stuff I am willing to trade, I think about maybe a .308 from PSA. I am looking for a AR-10 with good accuracy, reliable that don't break my bank. That's hard to find one, used. Colt .308 carbine will cost you about 4 thousand dollars. I was looking at a Omen or something, also expensive in 30-06. I am sure the Colt carbine is overpriced, but very good also the best battle rifle you can get, pretty sure it destroys the Scar 17, It will last twice as long as the FN. Because the FN is too light weight, that's the #1 reason why it won't last you forever. They are like, disposable special forces weapons according to the special forces. I repaired one myself, since then I lost a great deal of respect for the design since it's flawed. Guns are not really equal, not at all and I noticed right away. The only .308 that can compete with the Colt is the HK, I think.

    I know this is now an old video but go see the video Garand Thumb did on PSA quality and you'll see why PSA is cheap. Not to dog on PSA, and neither does he, but after a few thousand rounds the PSA barrel was shot out, the BCG was wearing abnormally, etc. So there is a reason why PSA is cheap and it's not totally out of the kindness of their hearts. They do make a good product but it is cheap for a reason. You can buy two PSAs for the cost of one Colt, but you'll go through both of those PSAs before you go through the Colt.

Sadly the market is flooded with people who have class and so dealers mark them up. These rifles near me are going for about 700+ and the ammo is over a dollar per round. I did get a mosin m38 pretty early in my gun ownership. Bought it for a few hundred out the door. I’m seeing guns like mine go for over DOUBLE what I paid. Clean and numbers matching. I think the difference is whether the barrel ischrome lined HP tested and MPI (magnetic particle inspected). Same with the BCG, besides it being shot peened carpenter steel it should also be MPI. The PSA $500 rifles do not have this from what I have ascertained. The PSA premium rifles do, but then again they do not go for $500. You get what you pay for. Basic PSA rifles are ok for plinking around and most general shooting but are not built to the standards you would want in a combat arm.

    Get a stripped Colt lower, PSA lower parts kit with upgrade trigger, and a PSA upper without the BCG/bolt and charge handle and then put those items in from your favorite vendor, and I'd say that you get most of what Colt's going to get you and you still save some cash. I've heard that if you look around you can get used Colt's BCG/bolts for just a few bucks more than a PSA set, and a lot cheaper than the high level aftermarket stuff. But for all the garbage talk you hear about basic tier ARs, the fact is that If you have a good barrel and it's put on correctly and to spec, and the upper and lower forgings are in spec, the heart of the AR is the BCG/bolt. Most people won't ever shoot enough to wear out even a cheap barrel, and since the BCG/bolt is the only truly critical part that you don't want to break (other than the barrel blowing up), then other than the Gucci factor of having a DD or Noveske, or something like that, (those guys even sneer at a Colt's; then you might as well save some money and put together a great shooter by doing a bit of shopping around spending the money on the critical parts, such as the BCG/bolt, a quality charging handle and upgraded trigger, and if needed, a good forend. (One that won't fall off) And I'm not being down on PSA. My go to rifle around the homestead is a KS-47, and I'm very happy with it, but I've been looking at getting a 20" AR, and the above is kinda the build I'm considering putting together. I'm just not sure if I want to go with a free float rail, or the traditional look. Either way I want it to be able to roll with irons, but still have the option for an optic down the road. Since I have a removable carry handle laying around, I've been looking really hard on doing a build like the ones in the video. I've always thought that a 20" AR would be handy out on the farm for coyotes, hogs and vampires, I mean varmints. I'm not really a huge fan of ARs in general, but you have to admit, it's the only platform out there that lets you mix and match the huge variety of parts available to get just what you want without spending a fortune.

  • @devildog_iii3492
    @devildog_iii34923 ай бұрын

    Yea true. May as well build like that since most people replace those parts anyway. If ur considering building a 20”, I’ve used lots of Aero parts, and besides one little issue with media plugging a spring retainer hole. They’ve been great. I’d say BCM level quality.
