    My Mk2 BCM 16" middy BFH upper has become my favorite all around AR15 and i own quite a few from high end manufacturers. I'm getting 0.5-0.75" 5 shot groups with 77 grain OTM factory ammo. I hit out past 800 yards often with an 8x Burris optic on it. Runs really well dirty. Hitting consistently on the steel silhouette at 735 yards is easy... and with a quick pace to boot. Just an awesome upper. Love BCM.

    I bought 2 receivers and have had them coming up on a month. Really liking the one I’ve already built into an upper. I’ll say the fitment between the receiver and my hodge barrel was like nothing I’ve ever dealt with before. Both parts are extremes in their respective areas. Hodge, has an oversized barrel extension to help reduce play in the receiver. BCM MK2 is undersized where it meets with the barrel extension (even has disclaimer of thermal fitting in the box). I went into it knowing it was going to be a tight fit...but holy shit. Had to chill my barrel overnight and heat the receiver with a heat gun until it was too hot to touch to mate the two parts. Even then it was tough. I say all this not as a complaint, more as a “just to let you know” It was more labor-some than fitting a SR-25 barrel to its respective receiver (from what I’ve seen, I’m not a KAC M110/SR-25 armorer) Getting back on topic, I’m really happy so far. It is definitely a more ridged upper. I lapped the front of the receiver for a more true fit with the barrel; didn’t take much work (was 90% there I’d say). Overall very tight tolerances. Fitment on my used and abused Noveske lower is solid. Tight but not a bad tight. One thing to note, not necessarily a mark against it, more just the unfortunate nature of the design...it is not compatible with LMT MARS lowers. This was a bummer for me. The new location of the FA is now in the way of the both catch on the ejection port side of the MARS. Going forward I don’t see why I wouldn’t go with this receiver for 95% of builds.

    Nice! Glad to know the tolerances are like that. I put this upper on an Aero M4E1 lower since BCM lowers are out of stock, and it fits really well.

    Haven’t heard good things about DD lately with quality control, but I’m sure it’s still good. I don’t know the weight, BCM doesn’t do a great job at publishing that sort of stuff but it’s light.

  • @stoner_pinky

    @stoner_pinky

    split time Personally, I’d go with the BCM over DD. Better in almost every way to include QC. Only thing the DD has going for it is a pinned gas block, whereas the BCM gas block uses 2 set screws with Permatite or something of the sort. That being said...I have never seen an issue with a bcm gas block coming lose, but I still prefer a pinned GB because they are bombproof. I end up pinning BCM’s after the fact just to be 110%.

    It’s cool looking but I don’t see the benefit. The standard upper is plenty reliable. Plus if I’m getting an another upper it’s going to be sans forward assist. Forward assist is plenty much useless and even Stoner didn’t like it. He only added it at the army’s request. But the mk2 still looks cool so idk.
