Ran pretty good. Had 2 FTFs while racking the slide, but shot where I aimed. Couldn’t take video cuz a few people were shooting FA

It's a Big piece of American History of WW-2. The value is not going to go down. Great 1911 congratulations

11/17/2022 Round 3 CMP 1911 sales. I received my Service Grade M1911a1 from CMP. 1943 Remington Rand frame and a NO NAME reproduction slide, that turned out to be a Colt National Match Hard slide. All roll marks and inspection marks were very legible. The unit had minimal arsenal marks so it wasn't recycled very often. A nice looking and hopeful good shooting piece of history.

@@devildog_iii3492 will do...it was crazy cuz me & my father put in to order 1, & as he was telling me that he got his call from CMP, they called me to get my info! So we ended up both getting a service grade. Both super excited. But will def reply again after we get em. I'm doing research about markings & types now so if I get 1 that isn't 100% USGI, I'll know what parts to get to make it all gov't issue. Thanks again for the vid. Really helped with what markings to look for. Edit: BTW... Lima 3/10, '02-'06. OIF, '04-'05 & '05-'06 Semper Fidelis brother

@@devildog_iii3492 Just got to check out both our mine & my dad's CMP 1911s couple days ago...I ended up with a Remington Rand, & my Dad got a COLT! I was a lil jealous to say the least, lol. I was really hoping for a Colt, lol. But just getting one is still awesome! Both mine & his are in excellent condition. Some scratches on the slides, but nothing major. Neither seems to have been refinished anytime recently, & look great. All markings on both are very clear! My Rand had a Colt barrel, & also has Springfield crossed cannons marked on the rear right of the slide. I guess it was sent to Springfield to be serviced at some point? I think it's cool that it has that though. Wasn't able to field strip em, will be able to do that once we actually pick em up to take home after getting our permits back in the mail. Overall were both very happy, & of course my dad is stoked with his Colt! One thing I did notice was that we both had different style hammers. Mine was wider than his. Not sure if one is civilian & the other USGI. The hammer on mine did look newer, so im guessing that might be commercial. Everything else looked gov't issue from what I could tell.

Yay, someone who does a proper takedown of a 1911/1911A1. :-) So often you see the people slide the slide back and remove the slide lock. Which is a good way to damage something or lose something. Short guide rod can fall out when removed that way. Your way is the way they were designed to be done.

That is just an awesome piece to own. It's a real shame that my locale makes it from difficult to impossible to own one.

@@devildog_iii3492 people's republic of NYC. Not impossible to own but by the time a bullshit permit gets approved here, those babies will be long gone. We're talking the kind of place that considers the M1 Garand a high capacity assault rifle and requires 5 shot en blocs and the bayonet lug to be filed off. Imagine that. The closest I've been to one of these historic pieces is looking through glass at an army base museum. Down right depressing, maybe I'll get one as a retirement gift for myself when the time comes.

Congratulations. I wonder if we can be sure that we get a Colt and not some other make?

Best finish on that one that i have see in all the CMP videos people have made. the 2nd round is of CMP pistols are just around the corner Jan 4th 2021an i am putting in on this round !!!

Yea I have seen some weird finished and mixed ones. Thankfully this ones got the slide and frame matched. Didn’t know they announced round 2 yet! Gonna be fun to watch them roll out.

To shoot yea the tisas or ati are fine. This is an investment/toy for me.

The 1911A1 CMP delivered to me was very similar except the fit was considerably looser.

@@devildog_iii3492 I just got my field grade Ithaca last week. Nice finish, not reparkerized. Very few blemishes. I just cleaned/oiled it tonight, will shoot it in the next couple of days. This is the second batch of sales. I was only offered field or rack grade. Came with a magazine like yours, no cleaning rod or De Santiago holster flyer/coupon. The tag said the slide is Ithaca, but no mention of frame manufacturer. Not on the paperwork either. How do you tell?

Colt had 5 different types of hammers for 1911s. And other manufacturers had up to 3 variations also

A thousand is not bad for one, but they ARE refinished and refurbished, which knocks the collector value way down, to just about zero. Great shooter, though.

Theyre refinished by Marine/Army arsenals, not civ. They’re getting flipped on GB for $1300-1800 so not bad at all

That's perfect! And the way it should be. He will no doubt pass it on one day. I hope to out shoot it some. I shoot mine at least once a year with my son's in honor of their Grand father. He served in WW2 from D-Day till the end. Can't beat the Greatest Generation firearms. God's Speed

Yea its a little high, but I could spend a G w them or $2G somewhere else.. But 20yrs ago everything was cheaper.. At least it’s nice and tight and not beat to shit. I’ve already had people offer $2k for it so I’m happy either way.

We as tax payers should get these for free. Our fathers paid for these with the taxes back then, so now we are paying again but an over inflated value. Our government didn’t pay the same amount when they were born. I just cannot get around going through the paperwork and waiting and bull crap to get one. This company cmp makes a lottery to pick you when their is 80k in a warehouse somewhere.......... really people .

Not really impressed with these. Seems they are only part original Colt and then part other stuff. I honestly prefer my newer government model that is all Colt.

Your commercial Colt wasn't government issue and it wasn't in any wars. This is a history piece. I've got a gold gold cup a Colt combat Government model a Colt Mustang and a Colt Government 380 But I wanted of these for the history. My wife got one of these already and we're waiting for another one for me, that way we'll have one for each of our kids someday.

@@ztug57 The US military bought 2.7 million of these 1911 and 1911A1 between 1911 and 1945. I'm sure there were more than a hand full that never left US soil. They were used for training and the MP. I doubt that every one if those 2.7 million 1911 and 1911A1 were issued to combat troops.
