    Hello Eric Just wanted to say your Speedrun episodes are awesome and very instructional throughout the whole game. I love the fact that you think out loud and you do take your time to make the correct move and thus far your 300+ wins says it all.

    Levy for the drama. Eric for the sheer chess quality, explanations and composure. Both amazing and completely different.

    it's cool watching eric in his element as opposed to the speedrun videos where he has to dumb stuff down for us mortals. still love the speedruns but this was cool to see a different side

    It's very interesting to watch this right after a Speedrun episode, with the thought process on a whole other level.

    Actually seems a bit lucky that Eric hasn't ran into a cheater yet. (Or at least one cheating well enough to beat him.)

    The comment in chat about why "pinning your own rook is the top computer move" refers to the computer suggesting Rf2 for white at 8:50. To be honest, I'm not seeing the point either. Is it simply to bait black into winning the exchange back because the dark square bishop is too powerful?

    Hey Eric, I'm somewhat behind schedule by only viewing this today but I've watched every episode from the start and learned so much from your games and analysis, even at levels significantly below mine. I wonder if the same will be true once you go above my level, which is not many episodes away now, or if it'll be too complex for me to understand like some of Danya's very in-depth high-level analysis. (That's definitely my deficiency, not his!) In any case, thank you very much for this speedrun series. I'm enjoying it immensely and this thank you message is well overdue, sorry. I hope maybe one day you will do another speedrun because, oh no, I'll be sad when it's over! 🤞

    Would you consider going for the GM title? Your play feels so knowledgeable but also calm and collected.

  • @kruksog
    @kruksog3 сағат бұрын

    I don't understand the obsession with the GM title by chess fans (well I do, I get that it's the top of the top and people are attracted to that.) The reason Eric doesn't go for the GM title is likely because he doesn't care to. He is still a better chess player than 99% of players and he has a successful career. More successful than plenty of GMs. He would have to likely abandon the success of his career just to commit to studying chess, something he's probably not interested in seriously commiting to at this stage of his life. I'm willing to bet Eric likes what he does now. It's not an unreasonable question, it just bugs me how people hound IMs with the question. He's a great player. If he wants to go for GM, he will. But I don't think he does.

    @@kruksog Why wouldn't anyone not want to aim for the best? No one starts playing chess professionally wanting to stay in one position. GM is the highest achievement, Eric deserves it.

     Eric would have to waste at least a year studying chess all day every day and even then it's not completely guaranteed, It's simply not worth the effort when he already has a good career

    Among my rating range, the Lichess DB shows that 4.Bxc6, 5.Ne5 and 6.Qh5+ is by far the most common line... and yes, Qh5+ IS a mistake, Stockfish says it's -2... the real fun starts when White continues their attack with 9.d3 Ne7 10.Bg5, because now 10...Qxb2, threatening the a1-rook. Now Black will usually play 11.Bf6 which looks crushing, protecting the a1-rook and forking the queen and the h8-rook, but unfortunately, after 11...Qc1+ White is losing the other rook. I really had fun discovering this variations :)
