Dude, exactly!
Somewhere in the back of my mind I was asking myself..."is this the game Eric loses?" Then, as usual, you pulled it out. Well fought game on both sides. Do you ever reach out to your opponents to congratluate them? This guy definitely deserves some respect for hanging with you for so long.

After seeing Eric playing blitz I've come to the conclusion that at this speed, his mind goes into limp mode.
I actually saw the bishop takes pawn move in the video, but I find there's a big difference between seeing it when someone else is playing the game and finding it when I'm the one moving the pieces.. 😆
21:25 I actually saw this during the game! Though since you didn't play it I thought it wouldn't work lol

It’s also amazing that he never trash talkes but very constructively criticises his opponents moves
Wow. Jody gives us hope. Played really well!
Thanks Eric. I really enjoy these speedrun and longer-game videos.
The e6 pawn sacrifice in the first game is reminiscent of the tal variation of the caro kann. Have gotten several quick checkmates on unsuspecting opponents who play knight d7 when my queen is lined up on the kings weakened diagonal
Love, love, love this series.. That game was gripping and absorbing.. kudos to your opponent and as always wonderful commentary and analysis!! Thankyou!
Love these videos! I really appreciate how you take time to explain a variety of possible moves that would be fine to play. I've learned a lot and hope you eventually do another speedrun starting back from the low elos again haha
I saw that Bishop tactic. As I am a 1100 myself, I thought I was missing some counterplay because you didnt play it. You cant even imagine how proud I was when the engine agreed with me lol 😂
Eric’s the only person to constantly be low on time in a speedrun
Amazing and instructive series, checking the new episode every morning!
A fun and instructive game, a lovely blend of possitional and tactical possibilities. Thank you!
Fantastic game. Very close call! Black to hold off taking the pawn with rook or bishop by the end there is truly one of those moves only a computer could see.
i was so proud i saw Bxd5 at that moment and it was actually the best move :D but i wasn't commentating the whole game so yeah... - still feel good about it

Yes, Bxd5 would have put white ahead with +3.6, but instead of the 1.3 that c4 achieved. Eric has taught me how to spot sacs like that.
Great game always a pleasure to see you play!We learn a lot of good things with your chess games, thank you for this.
Great game enjoyed it. I yelled as loud as I could but you still couldn’t hear me tryna tell you about the bishop tactic lol. Props to Jody for defending so well after your massacre opening
Loving this series, watching every night. Thanks, Eric
This streak is even more sacred than the undertaker's at this point! 😅

Dear Eric! I won two games yesterday with the 6 moves combo 😊 thank you so much for teaching! ❤
The excitement I feel when another speed run episode comes out is not normal
Wow, had me scared there for awhile
That bishop sac was a wild concept I never would've saw lol
Opponents getting better! Series getting better! This just builds and builds. Literally anticipating the next video.
Neat game, I really appreciate the more in-depth analysis. I actually had a similar opening OTB once with e6 Qf7, although it was out of the Bayonet Attack rather than the Two Knights. Coincidentally, my opponent was also around 1450, although I won pretty quickly because my opponent missed a backwards queen move to clear the f7 square, threatening a triple knight fork.
*Eric is such an inspiration to most of us! Love from Zambia ❤*
So proud I saw the Bxd5 tactic! Although I'll admit I immediately doubted myself when you didn't play it. Great game, though!

Also saw it! My assumption was that he was so busy explaining that he didn't see it... you don't always play with the same focus when you gotta explain every move. Very instructional and natural episode nevertheless! I love Eric's naturality and how he just spots the misses and learn from them without punishing himself for them. That's also very educational for us! Thanks!!
Simply Superb.
Thanks to your tutelage Eric, I actually saw the bishop takes D5 move which would lead to rook takes E7 attacking the king and the bishop. I must be getting better if I saw a moved that the master, didn’t see. Lol!
Omg I saw a tactic Eric missed! Day=made lol
a complete masterclass from the first game !
Quality chess content with ASMR
this game is demonstrating why you should PLAY GAMES WITH INCREMENT it wasn't gonna make a difference before but it has reached the point where it probably will
Good game. Enjoyable to watch.
12:10 Eric you missed bxd5 :) I thought about this tactic while watching your video and it really happened. I saw it right away after the opponent blundered
Didn’t see any of the tactics but did see Qf3 instantly. I credit all those Fried Livers.
I thought the time was gonna be the killer...just in time for mate
Thanks for a really good channel! 👍 Well explained even for beginners! I'm trying to revive an old hobby here.. more than 30 years old 😁 There was no internet back then.. there were only terribly complicated chess books.. in the "wrong" language.. 😁 It's completely incomprehensible how you understand many things these days.. because of the internet..

7:15 after Qf3 your opponent missed Qd6 which would make things close to equality again
What a game. ❤
The dilemma of being early to comment but knowing eric will know i didnt fully watch the video before commenting
In the position in game 1 where Eric players Re2, did he have a tactic with Bxd5! (cxd5? Rxe7+) picking up two pawns and forking the bishop
I do enjoy pausing the video to figure out best possible continuations to predict your moves: I'm doing fine but of course not up to IM level! 😎👍
I'm 1100 elo and was yelling at Eric to take that pawn with the bishop. haha I'm coming for you, Magnus.
I would like to see how you setup the analysis settings on lichess and then a view of how you’re using the engine for post game analysis.

He has shown this on his twitch stream a few times if you have a chance to look over there
In that first game Qxd6 would have given white a winning 3:1 pawn majority on the kingside.
Undefeated to Master! LetsGO!
21:23 makes for a nice puzzle.
Man… that was a good game.
One of those games that shows why classical chess is a thing. Black defended a lost position for so long and, if paired with someone else, could have easily won this on time.
During the game I saw the tactics with moving away the light squared bishop, but it didn't seem to work, because I forgot about taking a pawn and only considered other vacant squares :)
I was wondering about the nuances about whether to play 2. Nf3 or 2. Nc3. I know that Fischer used to like the 2 Knights Attack and I think he always played the latter. For example, you don't know 100% that black wants to play the Caro. If he played say the Modern Defence and you liked f3 systems against that, you'd prefer 2. Nc3
At 14:50 and other times, when the king moved to C7, wouldn't have bishop takes D5 won a pawn? If the opponent recaptures, you can fork the king and bishop with the rook by taking E7. This tactic was on the board for several moves; I was wondering why you didn't consider it. EDIT: Oh you just mentioned it in the vid. Ha, I'm better than an international master! XD I'm just blundering my pieces a tiny bit more often.
my man I love this series
I'm really interested in how you analyze your games. How did you later see this idea of Bd5? Did you just spot it during the review on your own? Was the engine pointing it out? I don't see things like this during my reviews. I don't gain the same learning from reviews.
15:45 why do you think of doing this sacrifice once it doesn't win the bishop? 14:50 can win the bishop with this sac, rook e7 right? EDIT: just got to the analysis part 21:25
I think you'll agree it was an ugly game but uglier for black, who was fighting confusion and chaos the whole time. Nonetheless, an excellent illustration of how doubled pawns can be a fatal weakness. However, the final mating attack was worth watching.
My favorite number
I think Eric is brilliant to watch but he doesn't play chess in a way you'd want a novice or intermediate player to play. It's interesting at the 3 minute mark he's considering a novelty like pawn to e6 or the aggressive G4 because he knows he has the skill to defend his king. A crappy player like myself would absolutely need to privilege king safety ahead of attacking opportunities.
I was following along with your rating roughly from 1100 up to 1400 with the small hope of playing you. I don't think I'll be able to catch up from here T_T
When you blunder the pawn i thought this the way to go. Then you agree you blunder 😅
12:22 bxd5 !!
Hello Eric! Cam you play Sicilian next time with black?
Instead of Q.f3 why not play g5? It would effectively paralyze blacks king side blocking in bishop, knight, and rook.
Question: Offering the queen trade, why not take the knight instead of trading with nothing?
I was screaming at my phone for you to take the pawn with the bishop, you even thought later, after the black bishop moved, about taking that pawn as a sacrifice. Love the videos!
at 12:45 is there (white to play) knight takes d5, knight takes d5, bishop takes d5, pawn takes d5, rook takes e7, king b8, rook takes g7?
@Posic_
2 ай бұрын
That's a blunder because black can take the knight with the pawn but close one because bxd5 is correct since bxd5 whatever black take with there's knight take d5. I have to note that after your knight take and pawn take, if bishop takes there's knight take bishop that protect e7
@Gooodmorningdog
2 ай бұрын
works at 12:17, but if Nxd5 black can respond with cxd5 (piece for a pawn), Nxd5, Nxd5, and black's knight guards e7. however, Bxd5 is the same tactic but works since it opens the vision of our rook on the e file and if cxd5 we just fork on e7 and if Nxd5 we respond with Nxd5+ cxd5 and then can fork on e7 :D
@adamclinton9740
2 ай бұрын
thank you guys, i didn’t see the knight defends in the end. almost works lol
I love your speedruns, than you
12:41 yo i suck at chess can someone tell me if playing bishop d5 makes sense because if he take i fork king and other bishop?
@kevinbaker4164
2 ай бұрын
Yes, the fork is the threat. Black can avoid that with RH7 or Nd7 instead of taking (depth 30)
Will the disrespect speedrun be next? Please 🙏 😃
I always play e6 against caro kann, and it pays off
13:30 Bishop takes d5?
12:17, you had Bxd5 there, no?
Just realised I haven’t watched 32 yet. Be right back.
13:10 Bishop D5 not possible?
episode 33 done
You need to another speed run but use d4 !!!!
Caro kahn always seems to fall apart
I just dropped out of Medical school to binge watch and study this speedrun
So the takeaway here is that if you play a 1400 opponent, make sure it's not Magnus Carlsen or Stockfish masquerading as a 1400.
1400s are strong
4:00 This opening was the first moment in the speedrun when I felt like Eric was revealing his true IM powers.
I was shouting Bxd5 at my screen multiple times in the last game😂
my dad is now 800 elo caase of this series
Is it just me or the sound is breaking up a bit?
14:52 you had bishop takes pawn, pawn takes bishop, rook take pawn check take his bishop
Issue withh quality
Only 1 game bit dissapointing
