    Very nice trick! When I do back and forth from photoshop, it take "sometimes" minutes to reload the updated image...even when pressing the reload image in redhsift several times, do you have a idea why^

  • @gernge

    my trick to 'force' reload newly updated textures is to raise the gamma 1 click on the Redshift texture node then click it back to it's default value. this works more reliably for me than the actual reload button. see if that works for you

    Is this similar to how unreal does Parallax mapping? Can you fake depth / volume for spaces on just planar objects with this? Also does this just replace displacement, or do they fight each other due to how they work?

    Hi thanks for sharing this, I'm having a simple issue is that when I use the standard material technique but when I changed the emission of the shader node. the PNG layer doesn't emit but the white color layer instead. How could I make my PNG texture emit but not the white color? Thanks in advance.

    Hey Billy. I am currently rigging a car as well and in the past Ive used this same exact rig. This time im also trying out the car rig in C4D from the Character menu. I've noticed with both rigs that the rotation of the wheels seems to be too fast when there's curves in the animation or when using align to spline. If you love the car slowly using the position gizmo it rotates okay. Is this more of a visual thing that makes me think the wheels are rotating too fast? Or what do you think? I'm pretty sure the rigs are applied correctly but wanted to hear your thoughts

  • @laeternaml
    @laeternaml8 ай бұрын

    Hey Jesus, I was experimenting with that rig a few days ago and faced the exact same issue. If we align to spline the car, there are kind of problems in the curved part of the road. Also we have to manually keyframe the wheels steering because obviously the wheels do not stay straight when the car turns in real life. When wheels steer there is also a problem with the rotation speed that looks off with the road. I think it is due to how the rig is created, and especially the math in Xpresso. I havent find a solution yet. If you find one or if you find a better rig, please update your comment, i am curious :)

  • @j.ssuarez
    @j.ssuarez8 ай бұрын

    @@laeternaml after a few tries I ended up using the rig that comes with C4D under the character tab. It's a bit more involved but it also has a ton more options AND the steering responds automatically to the car turning when it is on a spline. Definitely give that one a try. I still feel like the wheels rotate a but too fast but with motion blur it goes unnoticed

  • @laeternaml
    @laeternaml8 ай бұрын

    @@j.ssuarez thanks for the feedback! The auto steering with a spline seems a great feature, i didn’t know. Im sure this still due to the math used for the calculation of the rotation of the wheels, I guess it is very difficult to calculate accurately depending on the angles of the curves. But yes if the car is not driving slowly it may be not so visible. I didnt want to use the built in c4d rig because I found the component setting (with the colored dots) a bit complex and confusing to setup. I’ll give it a second try then 👌🏻

    Yes, that's really bad. It is world base positioned, that's the problem. Should have a tag to freeze it. Honestly, shading inside C4D is a waste of time, get used to Substance Painter and be happy. Problems are gone.

    Hi, great tip thanks ! I'm still having a hard time understanding where I can input real-world scale values of the textures I use that are not square (like a wooden plank that I know is 200x50 cm for instance). How do I tell Redshift those dimensions, and how do I tell triplanar in which direction to project X,Y,Z depending on the grain of the wood. Many thanks !!

  • @gernge
    @gernge9 ай бұрын

    Hey, thanks for the question. My answer for that is a pretty weird workaround but it works for me. Setup your RS material with the texture maps, and then set the C4D Texture Tag to a Cubic projection and then you can use the Coordinate tab to enter in real world values for the scale. So you set the proper scale for the texture maps and then get a visual idea for how large that translates to on your C4D object. Then you can go back to a proper UVW projection or however else you want to setup the texture and try to match them visually. Not ideal, but it works for me.

    @@gernge thanks for your reply. I find it crazy and strange that there is no proper way to do this in C4D. Very much enjoying your Redshift series. It’s hard to find quality tutorials that don’t just leave me feeling more confused than when I started. Thank you. Would you consider making a tutorial about using a Redshift light as a “projector”? I know it’s possible to just drag a texture onto a light, but to create the volumetric shafts of light between RS source and whatever you’re projecting onto, plus flickering etc. that would be a killer tutorial. In fact anything that helps get a better handle on the environment object in general for creating a sense of scale and mood… :-)

    Would you recommend using denoiser inside the redshift or maybe like after effects or smth, because im using Altus Dual and it not only removes some details but also takes ages!

  • @gernge
    @gernge10 ай бұрын

    i only like using Neat Video Denoiser in AE. none of the options in Redshift (for c4d) are temporally aware, that is, they don't analyze the data from frames before or after and so the result isn't as good for animation which is mainly how i work. so with that being said, i do not use any of the Redshift denoisers, and Altus Dual takes a long time because the 'Dual' mode means it renders the entire frame twice in the background, which is just far too inefficient for my needs personally. hope that info helps!!
