Gernge Quick Tips - Custom AOVs | Cinema 4D Redshift

Фильм және анимация

This quick tip is an introduction to Custom AOVs in Redshift. Using the Store Color AOV Node, we can create A Render Pass out of pretty much any Node, Texture or Layer, which Can be used Later in Compositing. I demonstrate using Surface Imperfections, animated Maxon Noises, and Curvature & Round Corners to give 3D text an edge highlight.
This information should apply to Redshift in other DCCs, and the steps to use the Custom AOVs will depend on the compositing app you use.

Very much enjoying your Redshift series. It’s hard to find quality tutorials that don’t just leave me feeling more confused than when I started. Thank you. Would you consider making a tutorial about using a Redshift light as a “projector”? I know it’s possible to just drag a texture onto a light, but to create the volumetric shafts of light between RS source and whatever you’re projecting onto, plus flickering etc. that would be a killer tutorial. In fact anything that helps get a better handle on the environment object in general for creating a sense of scale and mood… :-)

I've been scouring the internet... do you know if there's a way to create an AOV for post-effects in Redshift? I've seen several workarounds that seem to work, but no true post-effects AOV...

One thing I always do is if I need a Custom AOV for multiple surface imperfections is to combine them into their own RGB pass.. So I'm not managing 3 extra file sequences. you could also do this for combining the surface imperfections and the curvature into a single pass.

definitely a good idea! requires working with the channels in post, which i wanted to skip for brevity but i like the idea of "getting more" out of each pass!

Awesome, but why are you using the old version of c4d?

For all of your AOV and renders from RS, do you alway use DWAB?

i tend to, but because i'm mostly working alone / comping my own renders, so it's rare that i need to make *extensive* changes in post, so i dont mind cutting a little bit of that for the smaller filesize/compression
