    Hi Jamie and John! I'm Michael Schiemann from Hamburg, Germany and have been an Elvis Presley fan and Elvis historian for almost 47 years. I have around 500 Elvis books, for example! I have to say your presentations about Elvis Presley products are incomparably good! Not only what you say about Elvis and his work, but also the way you present it is very informative and refreshing. I enjoy every episode! Great job!!!

    So, is we can get the numbers and support up, Sony, Legacy, (whoever), will license the recordings so they can be re-released AGAIN, so we’ll have to repurchase all this stuff AGAIN? Thanks 😊 Can I be apart of this? 😅

  • @EAPSociety

    LOL! I hear you, Frankie! That's why FTD botching the audio on these is so frustrating; after years of being abused by the label, fans understandably have less interest in subsequent releases of the material, even if it's better and more complete. That's why I'm a lot more vocal about fixing this sooner rather than later.

    @@EAPSociety Yes, I’ve been noticing your references quite a bit lately and I’m with ya on all this. I’ve heard both arguments many times over, but I’m standing by that if people want it complete, without edits/editing, then we should have access to it. I feel strongly about the “Elvis In Concert” aspect of this issue as well. I feel that it was something that Elvis was still invested in as a career choice and it should not be disregarded as a posthumous piece. But that’s just me … 😊

  • @EAPSociety
    @EAPSocietyКүн бұрын

    Hi, Steven! Actually, that's not accurate: they have access to all of the tapes, and could release it all if they wanted. They just edit their releases to trim things they think are "unnecessary," which is counterproductive to the idea of a collector label, imo.

  • @subrosablues
    @subrosablues2 күн бұрын

    The mastering is the (sadly) usual Jan Eliasson "smash it loud" approach that FTD has allowed in recent years, something many of us had hoped had been left behind in the early 2000s. Also, disc 8, the August 10th rehearsal, is a straight re-issue of the earlier FTD "Stage Rehearsal" (Aug 10 only); with all its fake-out song intros that used live versions to complete the performances, a very lazy, cheap approach to "having all the rehearsals" on this set.

  • @EAPSociety
    @EAPSocietyКүн бұрын

    Yep - the audio is a huge disappointment all around. The edits alone are a dealbreaker for me - why a collectors' label thinks this is a good idea is beyond crazy.

  • @EAPSociety
    @EAPSocietyКүн бұрын

    Hi, Gina! Well, considering these are made in limited runs, probably every major anniversary will see some kind of release. I know David and Pal don't make a lot doing the work they do (which is the best part of the set, considerimg the audio). So saying that it's just about money isn't quite right - but where FTD is concerned, I'm much more inclined to agree. This could have been the definitive set, but incomplete audio (FTD's job is the audio part) drops the ball.

  • @Allen-vl7zq

    Every anniversary is an opportunity to promote Elvis Presley. 2025 = Elvis' 90th birthday and 70th anniversary signing with RCA Victor ; 2026 = 70th anniversary of Elvis' historic television appearances, and his first 2 albums, and his first major hits ; 2027 = 70 years since the Presley family purchased Graceland, and 50 years since Elvis' passing.

  • @EAPSociety
    @EAPSociety3 сағат бұрын

    Very true, Paul! I'd like to see these done 100% right from a catalog perspective that's always available, and then some riskier projects for future anniversaries. After all, if there aren't more releases, Elvis's name isn't around as much, and that's not good for Elvis fans, either!

  • @EAPSociety
    @EAPSociety5 күн бұрын

    Absolutely, Nick! Not sure if you saw my other reply, but the more both real and fake are looked at, it gets easier to spot the fake labels; I could even tell the difference now without needing the radio stamp or the typing. That's why it's nice to study these things up close like this. We'd thought about mentioning the type on these episodes, but left it off only because it's the hardest of the tells for the average person to catch quickly, especially looking (potentially) on a small screen (cell phone, etc).

  • @Allen-vl7zq
    @Allen-vl7zq5 күн бұрын

    ~ Jamie, you and John are being very nice & diplomatic (and maybe too forgiving) about Graceland's acetate debacle. The fact of the matter is -- If the Graceland officials (who were responsible for purchasing their fake acetate) really wanted to continue operating in "good faith" (after their blunder was pointed out to them), they would have admitted by now that they made an honest error. However, by not admitting to their error, they are definitely being deceptive if they currently have that fake acetate on display, and still claiming that it's legitimate. 1:38

  • @EAPSociety
    @EAPSociety5 күн бұрын

    Hi, Paul! I definitely get that - we take that road we did for a few reasons: 1, because if they hadn't honestly transferred it, we'd have done part one and that would have been it, we'd have had a lot less information. 2, because they're the ones who took a pretty pricey bath with that thing on the road to getting us that info, and 3, because they get so many fans just jumping down their throat for everything (that's not to say they don't bring that mess on themselves more often than not, but still) that calmly explaining the situation has, imo, a better chance of potential resolution. More flies with honey, that kinda thing. It's the same reason I didn't get too belligerent with FTD until the Blue Hawaii Sessions, lol Plus, they should get their money back, imo. Barring that, I'd use that acetate to bring attention to forgery Elvis artifacts, as it could still be interesting in that way.

    I watched Agent Elvis and I wanted to like it but it fell short. The animation wasn't the problem, the storylines were. The two if you have better ideas than the writers had. I didn't like Scatter or CC. I like the idea of Priscilla being an agent and the Memphis Mafia being involved. I agree about the crassness. Great introduction to the new season! The story behind the "That's All Right" acetate brought to mind an occurrence in my local area several years back. A local history museum purchased what was advertised as a rifle that once belonged to a well-known officer of the local federal court in the 19th century (my local history is tied to the Indian Territory that is now Oklahoma). A panel discussion was organized, several local history researchers and professors were invited to speak. Until a researcher that I knew was able to prove, using empirical sources, that the rifle in question was not what the museum purported it to be. All of a sudden, the researcher was uninvited to the event, and the advertising was switched without notice or explanation. And to date, as far as I know, the museum has yet to publicly admit that they were duped. The history of pirated and bootleg records is fascinating, and perhaps those in charge at Graceland could use this opportunity to include it as part of their narrative surrounding Elvis. Although... I doubt that will happen! Onwards... and sideways!

    Thank you, Paul! Yeah, what happened is definitely a shame, but hopefully this video can help in some way for the future! I will say, this took us months to find all of this, and it's hard to say when they came across the acetate, so they might not have had much time before deciding - and the last owner of the ones we have made the same error. We honestly might not have found some of this information if they hadn't brought the acetate forward in the way they did, so it also inadvertently helped us clear that up for the larger Elvis World, which (in the end) is a good thing. 😁

The recording of "That's All Right" included as the lead song on 1973's "ELVIS ~ A LEGENDARY PERFORMER, VOLUME 1" (actually released in January 1974) sounded better (in my opinion) with less echo/reverb than the recordings on the two albums you mentioned. 22:25 Please go take a listen and see if you agree. Hi, Paul! You are correct - that's the original RCA master, iirc! I was thinking that was late 70s for some reason, not 1974. Thankfully, the point still stands largely if not 100%; for the general public, or those making fakes, you won't think about that album first; you'll think of one with "Sun" in the title. It is pretty hilarious, though, that a track from "A Legendary Performer Volume 2" was used, but not "That's All Right" from volume one.

    I have nothing against EPE and I am glad that they exist, but if they presented this out of "good faith" as you presume, then why out of "good faith" don't they admit they made a mistake, and address the public that they had fooled? By not addressing this issue is a bit disrespectful to the Elvis Presley "collecting" community. In a way it's like them saying f'm they don't know any better.. That way a very good presentation on this issue by a channel that I believe is going to grow tremendously in the Elvis world.

  • @EAPSociety
    @EAPSociety7 күн бұрын

    Thank you so much! As I'm sure you've caught in the other videos, we definitely have massive plans for things as we move forward (CD and book releases, hopefully more), and I'm excited to grow things to get there. :) The question is totally fair, and I'll tell you why I think it was presented in good faith. If it wasn't, they never would have taken the time to transfer the acetate they had or use that audio. The easier, and more technically accurate, thing to do would be to use the sound from "A Boy From Tupelo" or something we already have, and play that. That they didn't, when the audio is so clearly wrong, was a huge clue to me. As for why they don't come forward? Well, that's also a good question, but it's now a big company with several offices in different places. ABG is HUUUUGE. So whoever said to buy the acetate may not be the person who makes the call for cleaning/clearing up the issue. Add the expensive nature of the mistake with people's jobs possibly on the line, and it makes the situation a lot more complicated, even if it's not good for the collecting community. We all as fans are in a better place (ironically) to talk about it - if we can help, that's one of the reasons we're here! :)
