Man, this brings back memories. I bought this back when it was released. I need to pull it out, dust it off, and look through it, again. I wish I would’ve kept the gold hype sticker.⚡️

Wow, what an incredible set. 1994??? I didn't think they were doing things like that until FTD started producing their box sets.

Osmond brother “Zeppo”! I was ready to laugh expecting you to say Merrill and lost it when you said “Zeppo”. I picked this set up as part of an Elvis CD, vinyl lot I bought. I will now have to take a closer look at it. Great informative video and I enjoy the humor both of you interject into your videos.

Bought this also back then. It was an import so paid more for it. But like it still. Maybe also because of fun memories.

Jamie & John ~ Genuine question: Does your 'Completism' extend to wanting all the incidental music in the movies? - Just struck me last night, re-watching 'Viva Las Vegas', when there was a brief orchestral burst of 'Blue Moon'!!

I have said and I will continue to say that RCA, Col Parker and maybe Elvis himself, truly made some dunderheaddecisions during his lifetime! It is sickening to see what RCA/Sony/BMG has done to his marketing. I am surprised he accomplished what he did! Seems like he was always swimming upstream! Example: The 1950s movies. All were excellent movies. Then in the 1960s had some very good movies”Flaming Star” being just one! By the time 1962-63 came around, they were light hearted comedies. But I am glad we have what we have. The album, sometimes didn’t even have a single release. Roustabout, the last 60s #1 album is an example. The 69 Singer special, while If I Can Dream was a great song, was not marketed much at all. The single that should have been released was the opening number TROUBLE/GUITAR MAN! Would have been a huge hit backed with If I Can Dream! I could go on, but I hope you get the point. BTW. Just discovered your channel. I like it very much! Keep up the hard work! It is appreciated!

I’m not sure Trouble/Guitar Man would have been right for a single release. Great opening for the TV special but Guitar Man had recently been released as single the year before. If I Can Dream and Memories made the most sense for single release from the TV special. Both were new songs and both were consistent with Jimmy Webb/ Burt Bacharach style of song that were doing well on the charts at that time.

@@sentinel3504 Yes - but thus is revisionism - So maybe mikeivey wouldn't have released Guitar Man the year before, either!

@@sentinel3504and yet both were not marketed very good. Even the album release, if memory serves me, only peaked at # 8? The single release, I believe, peaked at # 12. Memoirs # 33! The world wanted Elvis to rock! Thats why I think Trouble/Guitar man would have been a huge hit!! But, it is wishful thinking! Heck they could have released both! But…..

@@TheslavedriversNothing wrong with the Guitar Man release from early 68. But, it was essentially a Country music song! It only reached # 43 on the BillBoard charts. The rocking version from the 68 Special would certainly have been a bigger hit! But, we will never know! Us Elvis fans wanted and missed the Rocking Elvis!
