Hi Jamie and John! I'm Michael Schiemann from Hamburg, Germany and have been an Elvis Presley fan and Elvis historian for almost 47 years. I have around 500 Elvis books, for example! I have to say your presentations about Elvis Presley products are incomparably good! Not only what you say about Elvis and his work, but also the way you present it is very informative and refreshing. I enjoy every episode! Great job!!!

To me this is the best FTD they have done so far. TTWII was how I became an Elvis fan. Those rehearsals are so magical. The band is kickin and raw. They sound great since everything is fresh. It’s crazy this thing sold out so quick and I heard about represses but never saw any. This would have been amazing to do just the audio release and especially on vinyl. I love it so much. Let me know if these are available anywhere for less than an arm and a leg.

Hi Jamie & John! I just wanted to let you both know how much I enjoy your channel! You pack so much great information into the videos! I love That's The Way It Is, and Elvis never looked better in my opinion. You are right, the books alone are worth the price. Excellent quality! I hope to get this one. I'm looking forward to your next video. You both have a great weekend, and stay safe. Tanya

Hi again Jamie and John. I didn't have time to watch the video all the way through last week, hence my caustic comment about how many more anniversary things etc. But I have just watched the whole video through, and that book....oh wow, what can I say...the photos were stunning, and the text was fantastic. I stopped the video to read the text (thanks for holding the book so still and close up enough!) because for me the text in a book is as important as the photos, and this was no exception. I won't be getting this..sigh...unless I win a lottery, so I really appreciate being able to see it here. 'Thank you very much'

Hi, Gina! It's all good! I definitely understand how so many releases can make it all seem lacking in real care for what's being done - and sometimes that's true (like the audio on this set). That's why we like to show things like this, so fans can determine for themselves how they feel about them, and also just to get to see some of these when they're so hard to find now, especially when they're out of print. 😁

Thank you! And it's not, really, it's just a longer-term goal than most of the instant gratification-laden internet is used to. Since it's an item Elvis owned for nearly two decades, so it shouldn't be set to an easy goal. Given that we're at nearly 3,000 and it's only the start of our third year, I'd say we'll get there faster than I thought! 😁

Always love the videos. Hey I was wondering, although this is off topic, did you have any sort of friend relationship with Martin Fontaine? If I'm not mistaken it was you who also did the Elvis story. I never heard about how that came together and it seemed like such a slick and good show. I'd definitely like to hear about that at some point and forgive me if you've covered it somewhere else

  • @EAPSociety

Thank you, Nicky! And Martin and I knew each other, but not well enough to be friends; he was there when the Elvis Story people selected me (after spending a very long time looking for his successor) at EPE's suggestion, and we got along pretty well at the time - but I didn't really see him after that. It was a fun show, with some great concepts! Though, if it had continued, there's a lot of potential that could have been realized that would have been nice to see it achieve. It's still very likely the best live show on Elvis's life that's been done, but an even better one is possible, imo. Hope that helps! 😁

Hi, Steven! Actually, that's not accurate: they have access to all of the tapes, and could release it all if they wanted. They just edit their releases to trim things they think are "unnecessary," which is counterproductive to the idea of a collector label, imo.

So, is we can get the numbers and support up, Sony, Legacy, (whoever), will license the recordings so they can be re-released AGAIN, so we’ll have to repurchase all this stuff AGAIN? Thanks 😊 Can I be apart of this? 😅

  • @EAPSociety

LOL! I hear you, Frankie! That's why FTD botching the audio on these is so frustrating; after years of being abused by the label, fans understandably have less interest in subsequent releases of the material, even if it's better and more complete. That's why I'm a lot more vocal about fixing this sooner rather than later.

@@EAPSociety Yes, I’ve been noticing your references quite a bit lately and I’m with ya on all this. I’ve heard both arguments many times over, but I’m standing by that if people want it complete, without edits/editing, then we should have access to it. I feel strongly about the “Elvis In Concert” aspect of this issue as well. I feel that it was something that Elvis was still invested in as a career choice and it should not be disregarded as a posthumous piece. But that’s just me … 😊

CD5 should have been replaced. Track 7 (I Washed My Hands….) comes to a halt after 3:47 then starts playing again!!! What happened there?!? Also, there is a really dreadful mastering fault on track 17 (What’d I Say) at around the 12 second mark, where there is a horrible screeching sound. This sound wasn’t on any previous releases of this track not even on bootlegs so why is it on here?

The mastering is the (sadly) usual Jan Eliasson "smash it loud" approach that FTD has allowed in recent years, something many of us had hoped had been left behind in the early 2000s. Also, disc 8, the August 10th rehearsal, is a straight re-issue of the earlier FTD "Stage Rehearsal" (Aug 10 only); with all its fake-out song intros that used live versions to complete the performances, a very lazy, cheap approach to "having all the rehearsals" on this set.

  • @EAPSociety

Yep - the audio is a huge disappointment all around. The edits alone are a dealbreaker for me - why a collectors' label thinks this is a good idea is beyond crazy.

Hi, Gina! Well, considering these are made in limited runs, probably every major anniversary will see some kind of release. I know David and Pal don't make a lot doing the work they do (which is the best part of the set, considerimg the audio). So saying that it's just about money isn't quite right - but where FTD is concerned, I'm much more inclined to agree. This could have been the definitive set, but incomplete audio (FTD's job is the audio part) drops the ball.

Every anniversary is an opportunity to promote Elvis Presley. 2025 = Elvis' 90th birthday and 70th anniversary signing with RCA Victor ; 2026 = 70th anniversary of Elvis' historic television appearances, and his first 2 albums, and his first major hits ; 2027 = 70 years since the Presley family purchased Graceland, and 50 years since Elvis' passing.

Very true, Paul! I'd like to see these done 100% right from a catalog perspective that's always available, and then some riskier projects for future anniversaries. After all, if there aren't more releases, Elvis's name isn't around as much, and that's not good for Elvis fans, either!
