In January and February of 1969, looking to build off of the momentum of his Comeback Special, as well as modernize his sound, Elvis Presley entered The American Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Teamed up with studio band, The Memphis Boys, Elvis Presley recorded what would turn out to be the finest studio album of his career. LET’S CHOP IT UP!!!

I have to correct you on one point, it was Marty Lacker who was the one who got Elvis to go American studios. Marty was good friends with Chips Moman. George Klein for whatever reason claimed he was responsible. But it was Marty.. And Moody Blue was an excellent album. Way down great tune. As well as Moody blue.

I agree with you that ELVIS IN MEPHIS is Elvis' best studio album. Very similar to his recordings at American Sound Studio Recordings is his 1973 sessions at Stax Records.
