Timeless Travel Club

Timeless Travel Club

Twenty-five years ago I quit my job and traveled throughout Mexico. Young and still in my prime, the experience changed my life. Years have passed and I am now proud to say I order my meals from the senior citizens menu. But I still hunger to repeat the timeless Mexican experience of yesteryear.

Today my goal is to share video through both the tourist and locals perspectives and at times will offer senior friendly observations on location. I do this for those who are interested in Mexican travel but apprehensive because of what they've heard or read. If this describes you, then join the travel club and you will experience the beauty of Mexican food, culture and people, only this time through the eyes of KZread and in the good company of the Timeless Travel Club.

    I always hate to be critical of others efforts but this video should be retitled , it is too much time spent on the reconstruction of the flood damage, doesn't really focus on a comprehensive walking tour list of sites to see and even when there is potential for something interesting the audio is terrible. to much video of a guy on a bench.

    My wife and daughter and I have been living in Aguascalientes for a little over three years. (Before this, we lived six years in Puerto Vallarta and five years in Zacatecas.) For anybody looking to retire in Mexico -- or if you're a digital nomad like us -- I have found a VERY high percentage of people here who speak English. I would say at least a third of the people speak some English, and maybe 15% are fluent English speakers. Not only that, but I have found hidrocálidos (people from AGS) so open and helpful that almost every time I go out, I have at least one person speak to me in English and ask me if I need any help with anything. I never had that in Puerto Vallarta (a supposedly touristic spot catering to gringos), but I have found that here. Aguascalientes, AGS is one of the safest cities in all of Latin America, there's good food, lots of things to do, and great people. I can't recommend it highly enough.

    OMG - one of our subscribers sent me here to watch this video! Another vinyl-loving kindred spirit in Mexico! 🥰 We are being nomadic for 4 years and hitting at least 30 different cities across Mexico, so I had to leave my 1400 records in climate control storage in the US. Once we choose the location in Mexico that we plan to call our permanent home, I need to figure out how to get my collection into Mexico. I have to admit, missing Record Store Day in April hurt my soul a little bit. I don't dare go into any record stores here in Mexico yet, simply because it's hard to not want to buy something and there is no place for us to put those things for now. I also know of at least one of the record stores that you mentioned too because I looked them up to see what the Record Store Day selections have been in Mexico over the last few years to see if they have unique releases. It is TOTALLY all about the hunt!! ~Gina

    Gino Vannelli!!! I saw him on tour at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto back in the late 70s. He was from Montreal and had a big following in Canada back in the day. PS - judging by my 20something kids - vinyl is making a comeback. My son has several collector discs and, so far, doesn't even have a turntable. I guess they are for looking at - not listening to. Anyway, great idea for our next visit to CDMX.

    Must have been a great concert back in that time. I understand he still tours. I watched a KZread video of him and his brother. Of course he uses a real orchestra now but man, he can still sing! Another Canadian find for me was Latin singer Amanda Martínez. I loved her Mexican music and was shocked she was Canadian. BTW vinyl outsold CDs last year. It’s a thing. Please don’t let your awesome son buy a cheapie turntable to play those precious gems with. Haha

  • @Vancouver_Dan
    @Vancouver_Dan10 ай бұрын

    @@timelesstravelclub6240 Thanks for mentioning Amanda Martinez - I had never heard of her. I am now a fan. Great music! It looks like most of her concerts are in Ontario - so I will keep my eye out to see if she comes out to BC. Yes, my son recently got a turntable from his sister for his birthday. I helped him assemble it and was amused to see he had zero concept of how it should be put together (my payback for all the times he has treated me like a tech newbie). We are talking - it won't work unless you take the plastic protector off the needle - and those dark lines are the gaps between songs. I am sure you will be horrified to hear the turntable has Bluetooth - no receiver or 30 pound speakers necessary. He was only prepared to open one "collector" disc, so I now have Taylor Swift Midnights memorized. Next stop, a trip to the vintage store. Not sure he is going to find The Weeknd - but ... I hope all is well!
