    These photos are stunningly magical! I went to Iceland in 2017 on a landscape photography tour. We saw some horses but nothing like this. I would have been smiling from ear to ear ap the time if I'd had this experience. It is truly a beautiful beautiful country

    Great tips. I also use the bright sunlight reflection bouncing on the water for the bright part. More of a white/yellowish light which doesn't look as good as the Orange/red in your examples shown here but will get it done. Also gives all those Bokeh circles too!

    Awesome, Shelley! Beautiful shots you got in Iceland. I've been once but it was a whiteout in March. Here in Michigan I shoot for a stable of Icelandic therapy horses and I just love them. Unlike larger horses like Arabians and other thoroughbred race horses, the Icelandics are so chill and mostly not divas. They also seem to know when they're on camera and I love how they (seem to) kick their strutting and prancing and vamping up a notch whenever they hear my shutter. Love your channel! Thanks for posting.

    hi, I love your work! Your videos have been very helpful, thank you :) I want to upgrade my camera from 5D mark III to the R5 or R6 mark II... I'm leaning towards the R5, but I'm mostly scared of overheating issues. I live in Poland, so it can be hot in the summer... I'm not a professional, I do stills and photograph at horse shows and I'd love to shoot some video (similar type to this one!). Are you still happy with tge R5? Have you run into the overheating issues?

  • @shelleypaulsonphotography
    @shelleypaulsonphotography9 ай бұрын

    Hi Katina! Overheating is certainly an issue if you are taking a lot of photos in a warm environment, especially in direct sun. Other than that, I'm a HUGE fan of the R5! There is an update due in the next year - the R5 mk 2. I am guessing they will resolve the overheating issue with that new body.

    Shelly this is gorgeous! I recently upgraded from the 5D Mark III to the R5, the video is amazing on it. Do you find that the focus tracking on animal mode has been helpful? Or did you not use that for this video here and just Servo AI?

  • @shelleypaulsonphotography
    @shelleypaulsonphotography Жыл бұрын

    Hi Majken! I don't remember how I focused for this one, but I can tell you that focus tracking with horses is a hit or miss. I've been finding using a broader focus area (such as Large Zone AF: Vertical) gives me more consistent results, especially if objects come between myself and the subject. 😊

    Interesting point regarding the 85mm prime Shelley. Shooting wide open in low light with lower ISO with that lens looks like a new era with the R5 and large MP-size images. Looks like we will be able to shoot from further back and crop in because there are plenty of pixels to play with. A lot of great practical tech comments particular to horses. Something I'll be getting into as a new genre. Thanks for the concise intro. We are always keen to get to the content quickly. Cheers mate - new subscriber from down under here. PS I'm waiting for the rumored R5 Mark II next year.
