    is is more of a compressor or massager?

  • @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica

    It uses 3 air pockets to compress the leg,for a massage like feeling, but it is compression, not any type of roller massage like a massage chair.

    It’s got a lot of room for your leg. You may want to measure your calf and check with the company though, just to make sure.

    Sweet, does hanging on a bar with my lats activated help too?

  • @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica
    @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica2 ай бұрын

    Yes, that would be a great way to activate those muscles. You could even gently let your shoulders extend upwards, controlling it with the lats and Teres muscles and then retract the shoulder back in. But in the end, what you need to educate the muscles to do is to learn how to keep the shoulders in their socket while reaching upwards. Your exercise is a great way to start educating those muscles.

    When I get lower back pain from lying down in the recommended way, the only thing that relieves it is crossing my legs, or putting one leg to the side. Strange how that is shown to be "wrong" here.

    I’ve had extremely tight teres minor and major muscles post surf. I’m thinking I’m shrugging my shoulders with each stroke. That makes a lot of sense

  • @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica
    @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica3 ай бұрын

    The teres muscles are in their most outstretched position if your shoulders are lifted when digging into the water, putting a bunch of strain on them. Using the lats to keep that shoulder down in place will help. Practicing proper pull-ups, keeping the shoulders down in socket, can help with this. Also, I find my surfers have strong adductor muscles of the shoulder but are weak in exercises like over head military presses. It’s another exercise that when done correctly, keeping the shoulders down, gives a counter muscle balance to the shoulder joint and opens up the teres muscles and helped balance out the tension in those muscles.

    what if i have crps in my foot and have to cross that foot to rest other the other one so no bed sheets touch the bottom of the heel?

  • @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica
    @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica3 ай бұрын

    Well now that’s an interesting one. I would have lots of questions to try and understand what’s causing that. Is it Wales she same foot? Does it only happen when you sit in bed? Is the cramp in the arch of the foot? Do you just have heel pain? If it’s always the same foot, and you’ve had a lower back herniation before, then it could be related to that. Making sure you have a pillow or something under your lower back when you’re sitting in bed, like the video suggest, may help. There are also some great wedge pillow systems you can buy on Amazon and configure in many ways that could be helpful. Here’s a link: amzn.to/3TVK3gF

    Increases circulation. If you have swelling in your feet and lower legs it’s great for that. Also, any calf injuries or if you tend to get tight calves, it’s great for that. If you’re someone who is on their feet all day it’s a good recover device for after work. It creates a nice calf massage.

    Great video! Thanks, guys! Would you also please be able to do a video for how to get comfortable in a newer car seat where the headrest pushes the drivers head forward, thus pushing them into an awful pain-inducing posture? How for them to get into a proper head-over-shoulders-over-hips posture? I’m finding new car seats unbearable as I have good posture and all new car seats are adapted to poor posture. I’d love to know what help you might suggest for the small percentage that struggles with this. Thank you!!!

  • @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica
    @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica6 ай бұрын

    Sorry to hear about the car seat issue. With the forward head problem in the car seat I suggest a product to try out called the Back Shield (amzn.to/41E4zEC). That’s an affiliate link that will take you to the product on Amazon. I use this at home on our office chairs as they help fix the lack of uppe body support that is missing in chairs and it could also help the forward headrest position as it should change the angle of the mid/upper back, putting your upper body more forward and reducing the push of the headrest on your head. Also, as mentioned in the video, I like to lift the back of the seat that’s under my butt and drop the front part. This is challenging with some of the bucket seats today as they are in a lean-back position but you can see if it’s possible to adjust your seat properly.

    good stuff - question - i changed the way I paddle when I surf and the pain seems to have 'moved' -- i used to get pain in my left shoulder (radiating down the left medial head from rotator cuff), but now the pain/stiffness is basically in the "meat" of the upper back between my shoulder blades, and even a little up into my lower neck muscles ... is this a good or bad thing?

  • @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica
    @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica7 ай бұрын

    That radiating pain down your arm may be caused by a nerve in your neck. If you get the pain to move up the chain and more centralized to the spine then it is at least moving in the right direction, meaning you’re helping the situation. Most likely, the fact that the current discomfort is in the muscles and less nerve related is a good sign. The area your feeling it now is in a good place because you’re working muscles you probably weren’t using before and that discomfort should subside within the next two to three weeks. If it continues to increase then you may be compressing or pinching your scapulas together too much and you need to widen your back and engage your lats more. Hope that helps!

    This is great, so I have migraene and upp back / neck pain some times . I guess it might be from my hours sitting on sofa. I guess the pillow on the head is most related to that?

  • @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica
    @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica5 ай бұрын

    Yes, the neck pillow or something to support your head really helps. Usually with the low back couches that are also in a slightly recline position, we end up pushing our head forward and strain the neck muscles while watching tv. A work around would be if you had your couch against a wall you could roll up a bath towel and put it behind your head, or a pillow. We always buy reclining couches for our tv watching but I know that’s not always an option.

    Thank you for this helpful video, I'm suspecting that my right SI joint & knee pain are from my driving posture. Could you do a video on the correct leg/knee/feet posture for driving to prevent knee & SI pain?.

  • @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica
    @ZLineFitnessSantaMonica5 ай бұрын

    The bigger cause of the SI pain isn’t as much the position but the over use of the right inner thigh and hip flexor muscles. At the end of the video I go over a two simple exercises to do to help prevent the SI pain. But I’d you do our entire 11 Back Repair Video Series, a couple times a week, or before/after a big drive, that will definitely help. www.zlinefitness.com/11-back-repair

After we got her to stop crossing her legs and she consistently did the exercises from the 11 Back Repair Video Series, she was out of her sciatic pain after 3 weeks and it never has come back. It’s crazy how one little repetitive stress can cause so much pain. Glad the video helped and thanks for the message!

    I drive a Tesla, and due to one-pedal driving, I rarely use my brake, which provides more balance between my left and right legs as they are both stationary when I drive. Holding the steering wheel should be in the 9 and 3 position. Although you suggest holding the steering wheel low to relax the shoulders, it's more dangerous to hold it so low as you lose control of the car, and your arms are no longer balanced in controlling the car if an evasive maneuver is required. Holding the steering wheel so low could cause you to lose control of the vehicle and crash. I would put driver safety and my life above relaxing my shoulders because exercising outside the vehicle is a better and safer solution. Professional drivers only recommend holding the steering wheel at 9 and 3 for safety and control.
