British Museum Events

The British Museum is the first national public museum of the world.

It is unique in bringing together the cultures of the world under one roof, spanning continents and oceans. Its eight million objects allow us to explore the extraordinary diversity of human cultures and to realise how closely they are interconnected.

Enlightenment ideals and values - critical scrutiny of all assumptions, open debate, scientific research, progress and tolerance - have marked the Museum since its foundation.

These values apply to this channel, where live-steams and recordings of past events at the Museum can be found.

Whilst discussion is encouraged, please be aware that any offensive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, discriminatory or harassing comments, images, videos or personal attacks of any kind will be removed. Spamming, repeat submissions of the same contributions or content that is off-topic may also be removed.

It’s only in the Indian culture where women got so much respect and freedom, whereas in other cultures they were enslaved and deprived of all kinds of rights. Only in Hinduism there is equality between male and female gods, example Ardhanareshwari where Shiva is depicted as half man and half woman, symbolising two opposite spins of electrons within orbitals of an atom, which is the basis of physical realm. I’m proud of my culture, tradition and homeland. Proud to be an Indian 🇮🇳.

Whether “real” or “belief” is probably personal. Or that is my theory anyway. My experiences.. yes plural..have seemed very real. Were they? That is anyones guess. I would say i don’t believe. But, when my Mother, after she died, asked me why that young man in her kitchen would not answer her when she spoke to him, i told her it was “because he knew she was not there”. No words were exchanged. Only thoughts. I puzzled it over and “decided” to accept it as real. She came again, years later, standing in front of an opening, where behind her my father, who had recently died, was sitting as he did when we celebrated their anniversaries and all the old cousins would sit on the long back porch talking about the old days of growing up. In the opening in the wall in front of the cousins, my mother smiled. Then it all was gone. She wasn’t been back. Not like that. Though i dream about those who have gone, and they seem only normal as they did when alive. I’ve never had that experience since. I have wondered about it. I chose to accept it, and it gave me some comfort about whether i did an acceptable job of caring for my father’s needs, as i had promised Mother we would. She worried, because he was a difficult person who was not kind, nor did he care much, for his family. So i accept those events, what ever they were, real or belief, as a reassurance that all was well for them, and Mother wanted me to know i did ok. Sounds needy, doesn’t it. I don’t believe in ghosts, but on the other hand… And then of course there was that creepy old man that visited our three year old when we lived in that 100 year old house out in New Hampshire, and told him we should not be there, and wrote things on the wall of his bedroom that he could not read since he was only three…. And that menacing heap of rags i saw standing over us the first night we stayed in that house. Scared the hair off me. I chalked it up to a bad dream. But then there were those visits to our son….and our Lab who would not go upstairs, and the cat who would….and then the dog disappeared. Needless to say, we did not stay there any longer than it took to find another place to live. Real or belief? Darned if i know.
