Era of Reclamation Ep.9: Storytelling and Black history

Explore the interplay between storytelling and Black history in the latest ‘Era of Reclamation’ event. In this in-person event at the Museum, Bonnie Greer, former Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees of the British Museum, and former Director Hartwig Fischer, were joined in conversation by special guest Olivette Otele, Professor of the History of Slavery and Memory of Enslavement at the University of Bristol.
The ‘Era of Reclamation’ event series explores vital issues linked to identity, belonging, diversity and interconnection. This conversation raises and discusses important questions, including, how do we reclaim and tell people's stories? Who is writing these histories? And what stories do objects tell?
The discussion also looks back at the ‘Era of Reclamation’ series, reflecting on where it started in early 2020, how far it has come and what lies ahead.
