Era of Reclamation Ep.5: Beyond 'Bridgerton'

A record 82 million households globally chose to watch Bridgerton in its first 28 days, making it the most successful show on Netflix on release.
Join Olivette Otele, Professor of History of Slavery and Memory of Enslavement at the University of Bristol, and heritage consultant S I Martin as they explore the real stories of Africans and people of African descent in Regency era Britain and beyond. They join writer and broadcaster Bonnie Greer and Director Hartwig Fischer for this panel discussion.
They’ll be looking at why the series has been so popular, examining the reality behind the fantasy of ‘Bridgerton’, and asking if museums can form the link between fantasy and reality to foster a deeper understanding of our complex and shared history.
