I am wondering why my cat licks his can/ wet food dry wont eat the chunks . My vet says it is normal but what is going on in his furry little head.

Maybe add Beagles with Labradors and Doodles I had a Beagle that was a bottomless pit she would eat almost anything including rocks, dirt and she even ate a little bit of drywall, I just had to have her put down about a month ago shocked she made it to 13 and a half years old RIP Magnolia Blossom.
My cat loves to lick plastic grocery bags. I also had a cat that loved to chew on cellophane. She could smell it, and would knock over waste baskets to get at it.
But are we really SURE cats aren't possessed?!?! I'm mean the glowing eyes, zoomies, seemingly invincible, 9 lives, falling from great heights without injury. How is that not supernatural?
As an owner of multiple cats and dogs I can recognize my self in both characters.
My Wife & I named "Zardokhan the Destroyer" for this very reason!

A cat wouldn't stop meowing at my door one day, I ended up letting him move in and named him Drogon because he is huge with black fur that has a hint of red in certain lights. Anyway he now lives 2 houses down and is called Jeff 🤨 if you want loyalty get a dog lol.

My kid has an interesting sense of humor as well as a tendency to fall asleep listening to documentaries. She was on a space kick for a while and ended up naming the all Black kitten we adopted Star. Short for Quasi-Star(Also known as a Black Hole Star) because she was a small dark void that inhaled kibble at a terrifying speed.
My aunt had a rescue cat who lost both a front and back paw to frostbite. Her name was Teeter.
As someone with chronic illness who spends too much time in communities for humans with chronic illness, too many human doctors are having that specialist vs meds conversation because of what healthcare is like in the US.

On that last one... I'm much more hesitant to just listen to the recommendations since my experience last summer when my 16-year-old jindo mix with an inoperable malignant tumor in his throat suddenly stopped eating and I brought him in. The vet recommended an expensive array of tests (total, just under $1k). The blood test came back that his red blood cell count was super low and hypothesized the cancer had spread into his bones. I asked if now was the time to start considering end of life decisions, what the vet would do in my case? The vet *laughed* and says if it was his dog, he wouldn't have even done the testing panels, he'd have made the decision to put him down because where was the dog going to go from there? Excuse me sir, you advised me to get the testing done an hour ago....

Tbh I don't know what flea collar my cats have. I mean, I don't buy em. I know that it's a breakaway and I know that it's white or some other very light color. (Looked it up, our current one is ProElobara)
My cat's activity consists of twitching her tail while she watches me frantically wave toys around trying to get her interested in anything other than food.
3 am zoomies oh God.... We have a grown cat that does that and we adopted a trash can kitten early on the year and now they're zoom budies
I would add, I would not get one kitten. I would get at least two. Singletons can be unintentionally aggressive because they don't have kitten to play with. Also they will slap back at each other and teach each other how hard is reasonable to slap and play.
This makes me so happy! I always ask the vet what they would do if it were their pet and go with their recommendation, and I always felt like I was being annoying lol. So glad it is appreciated on your side because I know that I am not an expert so it is definitely appreciated on my side!

The poop ninja thing is so accurate! I too have three cats and it's hard to tell if one of them is having issues, especially figuring out which one! There's no identifiers on whose poop or pee is whose! 😭

True.... Although I have one cat who is very vocal and can be aggressive. She's proven that if I manage her/hold her, vets have a better time doing the uncomfortable blood work and other procedures. It when from then needing the leather hawk gloves to needing no protection at all. But since Covid they won't let me hold her for visits anymore so it makes the vet work really difficult, I always leave needing to being back a fecal sample or reschedule blood work. Twice the amount of visits y-y
The evolution of my cats name: Rocky road, rocky, rockbert, bert. Official title: Rock bert T. Micgilikitty the silliest cat in town ...yup! The sweetest little cat that always smells like old towels.
We always ask to record the conversation when we are at the vet just so we can go back if we missed anything when discussing health concerns. Much easier then taking notes on the doctors time.
And I thought my cat's name, Me-You, was an interesting one. I see now it's rather tame.
One thing that helps is using bitter or sour spray. I have a Golden retriever puppy, and a cat with mild pica Anything they chew gets a dose of bitter spray, and they learn pretty quick what not to chew on
My cat's name is Kitty Hawk but I just call her Kitty. She's a hawk trapped in a cat's body.
I knew rawhide was bad, didn't realize bully sticks were also. My dog's love those. 😬

As a dog owner I partially agree that I pay attention to all his health features. But I would implement all vet's recommendations, even leaving him for hospitalisation, bcs I really worry about my friend xD
