Diabetes in Pets (A Basic Overview)

I’ve been wanting to do a video on diabetes for a while. Since it is too big of a topic to cover all the info in just one short little video, I figured I would break it up into multiple videos and make a mini series! And even though things seem easy based on the brief descriptions, diabetes is much more complicated. Hopefully you guys enjoy the info!
I think this video is a pretty solid overview of the massive disease of diabetes, but for those of you wanting more details I will be making videos discussing things in more detail! Be on the lookout for the other videos!

Thank you so much. Our beloved Border Collie Mix was diagnosed diabetic at 6yrs and with good vet care and proper diet, home monitoring, and being exacting in her home care, she lived to 15yrs. Education is a key!

We did the same for our beloved Border Collie Mix. She lived 15 yrs and died of a ruptured liver tumor. April 16, 2024 will be 1 year since her passing. I miss her so much.

As a Stage 4 Cancer patient with Hypoglycemia, I can attest that managing my total calorie intake per day began to get the hypoglycemia under the BEST control it's ever been in. That, and to be honest.... reducing my overall daily calorie intake. That required a TON of regularity about how much I ate and when. Since doing all that made such a difference for my metabolism, I broke up my cat's total calorie intake (she's a wet food gal, no dry because digestive polyps) and now she's got three even-sized meals per day almost perfectly timed 8 hours apart. In no time, she was less upset between meals, was no longer obese and her activity went up all the while she's completely cleaning her plate. Daily "output" did increase but immediately leveled off. :) The consistency has made her happier and more comfortable. It works for humans and animals alike :)

My cat Tiger was diagnosed in 2016. He had ketoacidosis and was hospitalized for 5 days. He’s doubg very well now, he gets his insulin twice a day and acts like a normal cat.

I just got diagnosed with diabetes incipidus. The CDI one. Just another med to take on top of my heart, BP, and separation anxiety meds. Luckily, I have a great vet who kept digging and testing until we got an answer.

I gave this video a thumbs up, but I am not able to pick up the enunciation as effortlessly. Maybe you speak too fast, or maybe position of the mic is not great. I don't know why. Anyway, this is a good video, but I think it would be great if the ENTIRE series centred around the needs of people. Like: 1st video in series: " I am suspecting my pet has diabetes. Does it?" 2nd: "I see the signs. But how to diagnose diabetes in pets". And so on.
