Expedition Bible

Expedition Bible

Expedition Bible brings you the teaching of Joel Kramer, a biblical archaeologist and former expeditioner in his younger years. Joel teaches by "taking you into the Bible," showing you Biblical sites, and giving you context, evidence, and experience to understand Scripture more profoundly. Watch, learn, and be encouraged as Joel lays out the evidence for the historicity, authenticity, and authority of the Word of God.

Interesting that God in the form of man, who I believe was Jesus, was who came to Jacob when he called out to be saved. "Yeshua" is a name of Hebrew origin that means "rescue," "deliver," or "save" The name Yashua gave Jacob was "Israel" meaning "Wrestles with God". To this day, Israel Wrestles with Yashua, Jesus.

11:05 marker The Torah and the writings of the prophets were compiled by the House of Israel and the Jews. There are thousands of years before Catholicism (325AD). The first part of the book of Deuteronomy was written by Moses, then some unknown person finishes the book (later stating that Moses had died). This group of people are referred to as the Deuteronomists….they took out plain and precious parts which were not politically convenient. They were the Establishment that led to Rabbinic Judaism. They were compiling and editing the scriptures a long time before Catholicism came about. We know that by the time of King Josiah, the temple and high places were desecrated and all the scrolls were ordered to be burned by King Manasseh. King Josiah found what he called the ‘Temple scroll” under the temple and we have one Torah again. Both King Hezkiah and Josiah were reformers. They were more righteous than the wicked kings but they were not prophets (just like Martin Luther and John Calvin). Most likely, this is where the politics entered (philosophies of men mingled with scripture). This apostasy also happened earlier when Israel fell into bondage to the Babylonians, Meds-Persians, Greeks, and finally the Roman’s whose “political body” infiltrated holy writ. The Jews of Jesus’ day were Hellenized (Greek philosophies had been mingled into scripture). The Catholic Church ((which came later after 325AD) was also Hellenized in their day. Which the Protestants can attest, for they separated themselves from it….with Martin Luther and John Calvin. Yes good men, with good intentions, albeit not prophets, who reformed holy writ. Not saying that the Reformation was a bad thing, absolutely there was good that came of it, it needed to happen, but it did not bring about the Restoration of the Church (which was to come later down the line) prior to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

The Restored Church and mainstream Christianity have a different idea about how leaders (prophets and apostles) and holy writ must be inerrant. We recognize that humans are a product of our culture (the place and time in which we live). This is true of the cultures of both Old and New Testament times with those prophets and apostles. Jesus Christ is the only inerrant person who walked this earth and he was not a byproduct of his own culture. In the past, Catholics held the pope to be inerrant. The Reformation with Martin Luther disagreed with that authority and then created their own ways (except for not denouncing the creeds which should have been done). The Protestants cut-out many things which needed to be cut-out (but not all) and the things that they added WERE based upon their own culture and tradition. Protestants can only claim priesthood authority through the Catholic Pope…..whom they rejected. So I find it hard to understand the authority that a Protestant can wage over the restored priesthood and what it should and should not contain. Priesthood authority is a major blind spot for Protestants (unbeknownst to themselves).

Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I find the story of Ninevah and Jonah very funny. Jonah didn't like the people of Ninevah, I presume because apparently he was aware of their wickedness perhaps. Which is why he didn't want to go to Ninevah to warn them. Till he got swallowed up by a huge fish and relented and went and preached there. In Jonah 4:5 he went to the eastside of the city and made a shelter to watch. This is where I find it funny. I could imagine him being upset having trekked all the way from Jersualem, being in the belly of a fish 3 days and then going 3 days through the city warning people. So I imagine he's like God sent me out to watch a firework show considering he gone through so much just to get there, least he could do was create a shelter, sit back and pull out some popcorn to watch some good ol fashioned wrath of God rain down on Ninevah. Then nothing happened. It appeared to upset Jonah that he didnt get to see the firework show he was hoping to see. So thats why I find this story a little funny. But one thing I learned from this is Jonah wanted to see Ninevah judged. But Judgement belongs to the lord and because Ninevah repented, he spared them. In this way we are not good people, we all have sinned against God. Im sure there are people who don't like us because we have wronged us and Im sure they would love to see God's judgement rain down upon us. But God is patient not wanting anyone to perish. Just as he was patient with Ninevah. Judgement belongs to God. While anyone of you who are still alive to see another day is a testimony of God's patience towards you. But it is appointed for man to die once and after that judgement. This is why he sent Jesus to die as a substitute in our place so those of you who confess your sins to Christ and believe on him may recieve God's mercy and forgiveness. But he's calling you to repent and if we do, just like Ninevah we will be spared of Judgement because of our life in Christ.

Now american institutions are erecting statues of the Gods that require child sacrifice... there is only ONE God and Yeshua bless those who have eyes to see, ears to hear.

It just amazes me that so much scientific evidence which supports events of the Bible that it also perplexes me as to why people aren't turning more to God than ever before. For the exception of Ron Wyatt's supposed Noah's Ark discovery, I feel that much of the Bible's past has been proven to be correct by science, whether in the lab or through archeology. The reason for the disbelief in Ron Wyatt's discovery of Noah's Ark, God told Noah that the ark needed to be X amount long, X amount wide and X amount high. God said nothing about curving the bow or the stern. God didn't tell Noah to shape the front or the back of the ship in any type of curved fashion. And since I believe that Noah would not veer away from God's instructions, the ark was basically a rectangular box made to float...whether by divine intention or by design/load order.

Some of you say that you plan to or have read through the Bible. I have some questions for you. Does it sit well with you that Yahweh require the blood sacrifice of 3000 sheep or goat in a day? Does it sit well with you that Yahweh would cause a bear to mauI & kiII an innocent chiId simply because they teased a prophet about having a bald head? I could go on and on, but the sad truth is that most of you will allow preachers and pastors to explain these things away, or say something like "God works in mysterious ways" whenever they get stumped and can't answer a question. I have read the Bible and it is very clear to me that Yeshua came not to fulfill the Old testament, but to contradict it! Yahweh was not yeshua's father and he never once prayed to Yahweh or mentioned his name, not in prayer and not to any of his disciples. That is because Yahweh was not God and he is not the creator of the universe!
