Archaeology of Jacob's Well at Shechem

If there is one place where we can know for certain that Jesus was right there, it is at Jacob's Well. How can we know? In the Gospel of John, chapter 4 provides key details needed to be able to trace the archaeology to anchor that well as the very place where Jesus offered the Samaritan woman "living water."

    I've been a follower of Jesus since I was 9 years old. At about 13, I developed a deep love of Biblical archaeology, and that's what I wanted to be "when I grew up". I became a mom instead. I love Jesus, but your videos have made me tear up numerous times as I have been binge watching them. What an excellent thing to do, bringing each and everyone back around to Jesus and His love for us!

    I hate the position science is in. "Real" archeologists refuse to do most of the work because theyre afraid of changing our current understanding of human history. Thats why they wont even look past a certain point because its "too far back" for humanity tho theyve found human remains in fossil records that far back... We are a species with amnesia, and the Younger Dryas event was the Great Flood. We just dont remember

    @@ts7844 When Jesus said he was the door, the shepherd actually sat in the doorway, no one came out but only those he knew came in. Watching the sheep following the shepherd showed how we are to follow Jesus. I didn't know what a sheep pen looked it, there is no roof, so when Jesus said anyone sneaks in, they are the thief. I thought it would be more like a barn, but it's a rock structure out in the open. The sheep follows the shepherd just by hearing his voice, we also will follow when we hear Jesus' voice or calling through the gospels. Just watching the video brought it all to life and drove the point home how we should depend on and follow Jesus.

    @@davidross5593 No it's a hole, a well is a human defined term. Humans don't get to redefine objects for what they naturally are. If a well has water it's a hole with water used as a well, if a well doesn't then it's a hole. That's like saying a stick is used as a spoon. The hole in the video as assumed to be a well, but that's only what the people assume it was who found it. Did they dig it? How was it found?.maybe it was just a hole they labeled a well? My points is your trying to use special pleading, but you missed the point hence your reference of special pleading is wrong. The strawman term is not even applied to this definition. My definition is fact it's a hole even you agree to that in your own statement. Yours is an assumption on how one uses that hole. Sorry but you need more critical thinking skills..care to try again..i like how you tried to sound smart. I'm rooting for you 👍

  • @jujjuj7676

    @jujjuj7676

    @@davidross5593 also wanted to help educate you on the use of special pleading. Special pleading is basically as an assumption. Which is wrong to use when your making a valid case or argument. Your making many assumptions it's a well but ignoring the fact it's still a hole that was assumed to be used as a well. I work with geological foundations all the time and most rock based wells were once natural cracks or crevices people exploited or expanded for other uses one use case could be a well when others could be lava tubes, natural water erosion at the time or simply a hole dug to hide something. A natural event is not a metaphysical event. The people who assume it's God related is the very definition of special pleading which is ignoring other reasons for that hole and calling it something it's not. So to sum it up, go get a higher education and stop trying to use buzz words before you understand the subject or context.

We also received a copy of your book a few weeks ago, took a few weeks to arrive here in Australia but well worth the wait! You are truely an inspirational man of God Joel and I hope and pray that your hard work will continue to bare God's fruit to the world who in these times are in desperate need of our Lord. Definitely wish to experience one of your archaeological tours in the future! 🙏🏻 God bless and protect you Joel.

    Thank You Joel for another Excellent Video. Your videos (and your Book) allow us to see all of the places that we have always read about in The Holy Bible but could never see. Like many I am very much a visual learner and your videos help bring the Biblical Accounts to Life. When reading Scripture I always look at Maps (on my Tablet) of the locations being referenced which allow me to get the "bigger picture", as this helps to see where the events took place. Your videos have been a great source to reference when studying Scripture and they do more than any Map could ever do to improve the picture in my mind. Please continue to create these videos for the world, your hard work is very much appreciated. May Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Bless and Protect You and Your Families from Evil and the Enemy Now and Forever.

    What really hit home for me is the image of the Shepard labouring to pull the water from the well for the the sheep, and all the sheep can do is wait for the water. They can't get the water they need to live by themselves. A beautiful metaphor!
