The Jesus Tomb...UNMASKED!

The documentary The Lost Tomb of Jesus makes the claim that the bones of Jesus of Nazareth have been found in a tomb in Israel. If true, that discovery would mean that Jesus' resurrection is only a myth. Watch this episode of Expedition Bible to see that "discovery" unmasked and its claim refuted.

My last year of College I was working on a film for my practicum and one of the actresses, that was helping with my production, heard I was a Christian and brought up The Lost Tomb of Jesus saying that “the bones of Jesus had been found.” I adamantly disagreed. So, we ended up debating it for hours that night. Then later moved on to debating other Biblical things as the weeks passed. A few months later she called me at around midnight - several hours after she had left from hanging out with me where, strangely, I was debating an atheist in a parking lot LOL - to tell me she had just gotten saved that night on the drive home and had just finished reading through the first three gospels. She asked: "What do I do next?" I said: "Read John!" Our relationship blossomed and we have been married now for 13 years and have 2 kids. So, The Lost Tomb of Jesus holds a dear place in my heart - it's rubbish - but it holds a dear place. EDIT: Wow! Lots of interaction on this. Thanks guys! On an unrelated note - I just posted a the film that took me forever to finish! If you like films from the likes of the Coen Brothers, Alexander Payne, and Wes Anderson but are also a believer in Jesus as messiah and want to see a Christian film in that vein but with no professional actors and no budget? LOL! This is the film for you! Man, why do I always make my niches so small?!!! Blah! Its on my YT page and Titled: "The Greatest of These: a hate story." Thanks!

Very simplistic attitude, doesn't require thinking or analysis. If you also believe, in the trinity, the father, the son, and the spirit doctrine, why would the bones be required for a heavenly existence? The answer is, they wouldn't be. By all means believe that Jesus sits enthroned on the right hand of his heavenly father. If you believe in Jesus's return, why would he want to return in a badly damaged skeleton? I would love to meet Jesus in an alternative reality, just as I would love to meet our Queen before she passes on from this reality. Maybe I could get to meet them both, bless them and all those that are genuinely of high moral standing, I sincerely hope there is another dimension for all those who deserve to get there.

If Jesus didn't rise from the tomb, then there would be no Christian believers. It's the fact that Jesus's resurrected body was seen by over 500 people, that the Apostles died proclaiming His resurrection, fulfilling the scriptures. Nobody has influenced history more than Jesus Christ. Everyone's birthday is based on His birthday. Not on anyone else's. It is pure evil to try to deny the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Maranatha.

  • @DaleBrose

It's not a fact, it's a myth at best. The only reason you're a Christian today is because Constantine recognized it as a growing political movement in the third century that he and Rome could use to its advantage in opposition to the Jews. If Constantine had not endorsed the Jesus movement it would have never been anything more than a marginal cult. But Constantine certainly was not Christian. If you look at coins minted even after his alleged conversion, you will still see a lot of pagan iconography.

No it wasn't. When Jesus first appeared to Mary, she didn't recognize him because he didn't even look like himself. So how could 500 people have seen Jesus if they had no idea what the resurrected Jesus looked like? Even Jesus said Mary could recognize him only after he'd spoken to her because she was a true disciple. She would have passed his resurrected self in the street and had no idea who he even was. According to the Gospels.

Everyone's birthday is based off on his birthday? Are you serious? That's complete speculation at best. Have you forgotten that it's a Roman Calendar? Invented in 738 BCE and that the Roman's were PAGANS at the time of Jesus. Constantine didn't make his conversion until 312CE. They got Jesus' birth date about as correct as they got the locations of Mt. Sinai and Solomon's Temple.

Hollywood does indeed churn out alot of garbage, however, "Trying to make people think Jesus is not the saviour of the world"? Think about that, the world as a planet or the people in it? Do the righteous people who have never heard of Jesus get a free pass? The point I'm making, is like so many devout believers, you paraphrase nonsensical declarations. You read reasonable material and come to outrageous conclusions, which you don't expect to be challenged or even defend. I could spend the rest of my life shredding religious doctrine, that doesn't mean to say I think we evolved over millions years from chimps. We have a wonderful language spoken and read in so many tongues, yet those that feed on and adopt other people's imaginations, consider themselves qualified to make declarations of truth. AND, finds righteous justification when some lazy person posts a couple of words of support or encouragement.

It's nothing to do with debunking the bible, Jesus had a family and therefore a family tomb. The tombs discovery and the crude scratched Hebrew lettering, can be deciphered by those that have expertise. I saw this documentary and though it wasn't conclusive, I kept an open mind. The trouble with those that are lead by faith of others, they lose the ability to consider alternative possibilities. The very thought that finding Jesus's remains, is beyond anyone's imagination, is like the belief in his resurrection is being brought into question. This just isn't the case, if you believe in the 'holy' trinity, then it shouldn't be beyond those that have faith that a spiritual resurrection could be an alternative. In short, embrace your faith, but people should consider that there is more their religions than what people of bygone ages cobbled together for the convenience of holding sway over the people they sought to dominate.

In the 16th year of Tiberius in the 5th month and the 29th day (april 15, 27 AD) Yashua of Natsurat (Jesus of Nazareth) was tried and convicted of treason, sedition and rebellion then crucified. Twelve days later his body was reported as missing. This is a record from the Roman Empire found in Vatican archives in 1996. In our Bible it says third day He was resurrected, However we are talking about government efficiency, It took 9 days for the information to get recorded due to people tasked with stopping the body theft not wanting to claim responsibility for it. Pilot was called before Caesar Why did you crucify him Pilot explained his reasons which were purely Political. Tiberius screamed That is why you had 3 legions! the rebellion of 70 AD can be laid squarely at Pilots feet! He Sent to what is now Cardovia, Spain where he was tried, convicted, and executed for sedition against Rome!

He STILL wouldn't be in the tomb of His family because Yeshua was placed in a tomb owned Yosef of Ramatayim. That's just one of the MANY reasons this whole idea is ludicrous.

Exactly, that’s why it would seem that the lost tomb theory is extremely foolish. Most likely, Jesus family tomb would be located in Nazareth. His family was likely poor so his chances of having a good tomb near Jerusalem is unlikely. Plus, if we’re trusting the Bible that Jesus was actually crucified and died, we should also accept that multiple gospels explain that he was put in Joseph of Arimathea’s tomb. He wouldn’t have been buried with his family. I think this whole “lost tomb” theory is very baseless and seems like a foolish pursuit.

@@s.s.9149 Im not here to strengthen nor to cast shadow on your faith. But if you look at history to form your path to faith, then I think you will be dissapointed in what you will find if you do an honest examination of history and compare it to what the church and the faith teach today. I am not a believer but I am a passionate student of history and love learning about the origins of faith. To learn about the people and culture of that time and how they arrived at a certain faith. When approached from the perspective, Christianity becomes a very interesting study. I don't think many Christians today even think about the history of their faith and the world of a first century Jew and how that could give rise to fringe groups like the messianic or apocalyptic jewish movements of the first century or groups like the Essenes (2nd Century BCE to 1st century CE). But imagine that you are a first century jew and you life pretty much revolves around the temple and the Holy of Holies where you have been told your entire like is the dwelling place of the God of Israel. But your land is occupied by Roman soldiers and they have put their government in place over you. Even your Jewish kings, like Herod 72- 1 BCE were appointed by Rome. Then in about 70AD the Romans destroy your temple and the place where you've been told your God resides and there is no consequences. You're God, the god that you've been told is above all others, has been defeated by pagan polytheists. You think this way because you are very aware of many gods because polytheism is still very common in your world. But again, the dwelling place of your god has been destroyed and burnt to the ground. To me, it becomes very apparent why then, most of the gospels do not even appear until about the time of and after the second temple destruction in 70AD promoting the idea of a Messiah (messianic) that will come to defeat your enemies and push them out of your land (apocalypticism). Since your people are not strong enough to do it, how much hope would the idea of this powerful savior be? I'd imagine it would be pretty powerful. But it was not a message accepted by most Jews and it would remain a marginal fringe group well into the second century. I cannot accept that there are any accurate accounts of an actual Jesus or the events of that time since there is nothing, absolutely zero, contemporary writings about Jesus during his life yet there is a sudden explosion of such writings after 70AD to bring about messianic movements after the destruction of the temple. It's very much the MAGA movement of the first century. Now yes, there are the writings of Paul that pre-date the books of Mark, Mathew, Luke and John. But even these writings were about 20 years after the alleged death of Jesus. So no eye witness account. Did Paul have a moment of enlightenment on the road to Damascus? I doubt it. He had his influences. Remember the Essenes I mentioned above? It's interesting that Paul would suggest that people not get married because the end was near and that is the same or similar belief that some Essenes had well before Paul. All new testament writers drew on their influences from pre-existing faiths and paired them with their innovations to form new ideas. That form of philosophy was common all over the land. Even the writings of Mathew reveal how this or these writers had influences from Zoroastrianism out of modern day Iran. Now, I could write volumes at this point but what forms your view is up to you. I can only share some of the things I take into consideration. I have nothing against faith, it's religion that I don't like. If you seek a faith to give yourself guidance, I wish you well on the journey. If we continue this conversation, I will share the faith and philosophy that I feel most connected to. But if your journey is about adopting a faith and a religion and you are finding yourself moving towards the Abrahamic faiths, I strongly encourage you to sit down with a rabbi and have a conversation before fully accepting the Christian faith. The Christian faith is not based on fulfilled Jewish prophecy and you should find out why they do not accept Jesus as the messiah. Now, you can just take the typical Christian position and claim that they are just blind. Or, you can actually sit down with a rabbi and hear them out. But that is not a comment on who you are as a "baby" Christian, that is a comment on who you choose to be a person.

I was doing my English homework while watching this and there was a sentence saying" the middle class people of the 1800's were getting time to read novels because of development in machines" This was the trick of the matrix because middle class people at that time were heavily illiterate and they believed the political features and the novelists and both the politicians and the novelist were controlled by the matrix and they knew that the middle class will increase allot in the following ages

WOW! I didn't even know that movie existed. I used to enjoy 'The Naked Archeologist' and wondered what happened to him - now I know. Haven't liked Cameron since he stole Roger Dean's artwork for 'Avatar' anyway. Thank you for this very well presented look at what the misrepresented experts had to say. This really puts everything either of those producers, especially anything of a "documentary" nature, have done under a cloud of questionability. I wonder why they thought it was worth it...

Not surprise the guy in the movie trying to claim that was Jesus and Mary. This is the same guy on the history channel who said the Bible mistranslated the Red Sea with the Reed Sea. Which is impressive because they was trying to discredit the parting of the sea by making it more impressive with a 2in deep sea wiped out the Egyptian army

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Judas, and others are very common names during the Lord Jesus’ time. So it’s possible to have families having the same names.

I’m 24 turning 25 this year. Never knew what to study so I just didn’t go to Uni because I’m not about to waste my parents money. Regrettably as a result I still have no idea what I’m supposed to do or what my purpose is in life. Seeing your life discovering these things I feel like I’ve missed out on all opportunity to find that purpose.

Considering that Moses was perhaps 80 when he first encountered God and began the mission that he had been prepared for his whole life, you are still very young, and your purpose and life choices are both in the present and are ahead of you. There are some archaeological digs you can go on as a volunteer. As well, archaeologist Joel Kramer has a study tour annually. His channel is The Expedition Bible. I'm sure that these and other learning experiences are but a fraction of the cost of university. Prayers for your guidance and faith in the One who is not in any tomb!

Thank you for this. Watching that so called documentary it reinforced my beliefs in the shows they produce for us being designed to lead us from the truth. I don't trust the screens anymore. After watching the prequel to The chosen, I deleted the app and never watched another due to them taking liberties with Jesus' life story.

Just hold your peace old boy. I am an eye witness to His Majesty being very much Alive. In 1980 He opened Heaven where He is and I saw His hair, white n wavy and down to Hos Royal white robe. His Majesty's face and general complexion is like that of a Bedouin or other Dessert dweller. Very dark red-brown. In His stature, even sitting He appears as if He would be 6'4" tall. His hands and feet were very tanned and healed . I was not a believer or follower or "Christian" when that happened. I have been learning from Him since that happened. In my humble understanding , He sits before God as High Priest over this whole World we live and die on and presents us as Holy , Righteous and Blameless in God's sight. Cheers !Have a nice day. Pass on the Good News. You will see Him with your own eyes and no one will have to explain to you who He Is.
