Why Letting Go is a Super Power

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

There is tremendous power when you truly let go and surrender.
When you first hear this, it sounds like something you are NOT suppose to do.
But let's go much deeper into what I am actually trying to say.
Surrendering and letting go doesn't mean that you have to stop doing everything that you want to do. Or you give up on your hopes and dreams.
Surrender and letting go means to stop being so ATTACHED to our hopes and dreams. To stop putting so many expectations of attaining it. It is less about external circumstances, but much more about our internal state of being.
To go more in-depth, watch the rest of this video.

Wow..... I just watched until 2 minutes and I need to stop and comment so I never forget what you just said. This is the greatest wisdom I ever heard in all my life. We are setting not only goals but limits in our life and then we are prisoners of that. But if you just look at goals and limits and de-attache yourself then you are free. Now you are no longer a slave towards it but can use it like a tool. Fantastc.

Yes! I needed to hear that today - I have a project to finish and feeling the pressure in mind & body very much, so thank you :). Recently I had another situation that I had to let go of: We had a cancellation concerning our wedding. At first I was disappointed & didn’t know what to do. But then I realised that it’s even better this way and that we’re going to find a solution quickly and that’s what happened 🙂 I know our wedding is going to be wonderful. I accepted the situation as it is & was opened for some change.

I totally agree with you Mike. Quote from Vince Vaughn Dodgeball " I find when you have a goal and you might not reach it, but if you do not have one - you are never disappointed. And I gotta tell ya, it feels phenomenal". Problem with people is that it's never enough and until doing something they no longer enjoy doing but rather they create a sets of stuff that didn't really make them happy in the first place.

to summarise from 12:08 onwards: in order to have peace amongst us; we must all have a piece amongst us (i.e. a piece of the proverbial "pie"; some land to call home as is the case of living on earth that is devoid of ownership, but of general agreeance--caretakers of the land so to speak)

This is healthy but just like anything else - you have to let go of it too. There will be sometimes when you're just going to be angry and attached to circumstances and guilt tripping yourself for not being perfectly calm all the time is also it's own form of attachment. Silly brains go haywire sometimes. Humans can be as unpredictable as life itself. Life is absurd (Albert Camus)

I agree that being able to let little things go is really essential for happiness. But don't you think 'obsessions' made human beings to be different from animals? Look around. Most of inventions and technologies we use today are the outcomes of people's obsessions. For them, it was not okay to take it easy and let it go before they had had come up with satisfying outcomes. So, without their obsessions, you wouldn't even have been able to deliver your valuable messages on the internet. So, not surrendering, not giving up, or not letting things go are not always bad. In many cases, it is good!

Obsession can come from love or it can come from fear (for example, motivation based on the fear of being behind others). I think he’s talking about the attachments we have that come from the latter. One can be very driven and at the same time loose/surrendered.

When learning to type the paragraph, How To Build A Better Mousetrap, I became obsessed with that idea. Eventually, I ‘let go’ of that, because what did I need to do that for? It took six months to learn to type, once that became a long-term goal, rather than short-term accomplishment!
