H1 is such an icon, this looks like a brilliant update..

This little thing is a beast. It does everything I need for music.

Fix for rattling noise: take a foam earbud fluffy cover, cut a very thin strip and insert it along the top or bottom of the volume rocker. Poke it in with a thin sharp blade. It will stay nicely in the cavity and totally cure the rattle. You'll need to do the same with the trash/delete button. These are the only buttons that have the rattle and this solution is so good it might have been something they did in the factory. Black coloured foam will not be visible, or it will look factory made on a white edition. Very smart looking and feeling too.

I just sold my H1, but it was an excellent recorder. Glad to see it finally got a much needed upgrade! :)

Daniel Earl What's the BIG upgrade? I might use the limiter function once in a while, but I don't see any other BIG upgrade. It does look better though.

The side buttons are still making rattling noise just like in its predecessor. This has been known for years with H1 and still Zoom has completely ignored it. How much more would it been cost to put proper rubber buttons on it, really?

Is it better with less hiss with high volume when comparing to H1? I have H1 and i like it.

Why do you need two? If you're using them as a bodypack recorder than get Tascam DR10L instead, much better for the task!

Hi Zoom ppl, it's about time to refresh H1N, at least change the USB to type C please!

I do mixing like the DJ's to sometimes I will splice a song so I don't erase the rest of my mix meaning I record part of the song and the other part where I left off but I need something that does not leave a buffer or a space in between meaning can I record one track then another track right after without any buffer in between back to back with this recorder I could do it with the other H1 is this one's very similar

when will you update with new H1 Pro with 32 bit float?

Thanks! Is it possible to pause a current recording, rewind the recording and record over that same recording (ie override a portion of a pre-existing recording using the same file). Or do you need to record another take on a new recording and then edit / combine the files using an editing software..? Trying to compare that product with the iPhone voice memo software. This is a crucial feature for podcast use in particular.

What is the purpose of the limiter? Does it also the user to set a decibel level to prevent peaking?

The limiter brings down audio levels when it peaks. Although I typically used auto levels on the H1 which has a similar effect.

is the recording audio quality same when recording via pc vs recording directly from the recorder? or does the audio quality drop when recording via pc?

The audio quality is equivalent when recording in standalone or audio interface mode.

The big question is, does it still have the plastic screw thread like the original? That’s what ruined my H1.

I got the same issue with my H1 also. It's almost stripped out. When I finally get back home I think I'll glue a 1/4 inch nut to the back of it.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one having issues with the plastic screw thread.

After searching the internet and finding a number of tutorials on how to set the output of the Zoom H1n to meet the requirements of a DSLR used for recording the audio from an external microphone for video, they all seem to repeat the same method. I would think that any owner of these two specific pieces of equipment would use the same settings and once known, it would never change. Is there anyone willing to share their setting for the output level on the H1n that has worked for them. Wouldn’t the setting be the same for everyone who has the same equipment? And what is that setting?

Place a file with sinus 990 Hz @ 0dB on the zoom. play it back and adjust the dslr and zoom settings in order to have 0 dB on the Dslr's sound meter.

You can run a cable from the H1n headphone jack to the mic input jack on your phone. The easiest way to connect to the mic input on your phone is using a TRRS headphone/microphone splitter.

Can we create files And put a name in each one, when the recorder are conected in PC. And after Rec áudios on each file we want?

Alas it seems that either the files are date named or ZOOM001 etc named and it will not even play back other files, bizarrely, it seems.

This device is giving me the hardest time ever. When I connect it to my Macbook it doesn't seem to be recognized. So I got all the software but I cannot instal it because it tells me the license tool is outdated when I actually downloaded all the software only a couple of weeks ago. Wish I had never gotten this Christmas gift.

It does not include an SD card. The H1n can accept micro SD cards up to 32GB.

It does not even seem to want to play back files that are not named ZOOMXXXX (or perhaps the other, date format). It will play back, in very high quality, if they are renamed. But this is so weird. It is just a firmware issue. They have deliberately limited it to files that appear to have been recorded by the device.

Why my H1N is produce so many hiss noise? Any tips to solve this?

I have one of the earlier versions of the HN1. I absolutely loved it. whenever I needed it - it was there. I have absolutely no idea what happened, but, there was one day, I needed it. I tried to switch it on - nothing. I tried a dozen different batteries = nothing. I went out of my way and purchased some duracell batteries = nothing. I miss that simplicity in a recording device and I miss my HN1 to the point where, I'll pull it out every now and then and will it to spring back to life. nothing. 🥲
