Not impressed... when you hold down the "option" button this comes up with 4 new things you can choose from. What do all these mean " AUTO REC, PRE REC, SELF TIMER, SOUND MARKER"?? Also what about the "settings"option (press trash can button while turning on the device at the exact same time) this open you to battery life, SD card life, LCD, date/time, language, etc.

I mean... wow... that's really everything I needed to know. You should be hired to do beginner's guides regularly. The views were all very clear, each word was purposeful, and you explained just enough to demonstrate why to use a certain setting, without overextending the video. I've barely started using my H1n, and I feel a lot more confident diving in now. Much appreciated.

Before viewing this video I was lost in terms of how to specicially set the recorder for my purpose. I want to record the folk songs that I write, sing, and play on an acoustic guitar. Your very insructions were perfect on how to do this on my H1n. Thank you!!

I just got this recording device and it didn't seem the most intuitive. I looked through the manual and it didn't help much. I searched on KZread and chanced upon this video. I think Zoom should consider paying royalties to Julian for teaching their consumers how to use the mic. It's truly the manual that should have come with the H1n.

I just went out with it and recorded the street noise and was amazed at how much wind noise I got seeing as it's a really nice day today with only a very small breeze. Good to know I can cut that with the lo-cut.

That was a fantastic tutorial. I’ve tried everything to get better audio in my videos, short of buying a stand-alone recorder. I was a bit daunted by the prospect of learning a new piece of electronic equipment but I feel confident now. Thank you!

I just used my new h1n on my android sky and a android a502DL( much cheaper phone) and it records really well. 5 months late but in case you did not find out yet, there you go. : )

Hello there! I got my Zoom H1n three days back and I couldn't be any happier. I still gotta wait for some accessories to arrive though. I watched and bookmarked this video of yours way before actually getting one just to know more about it. Now that I finally have it, I find your videos really really helpful and easy to follow. Awesome work covering every other detail and necessary information! So, I basically bought it to level up my audio game. I'm a beatboxer and I've been beatboxing for about 1.5 years now. I've seen a lot of professional beatboxers use this mic for their videos and even online beatbox battles, and they sound so damn good. I just knew I had to get the Zoom H1n for myself right then. I'm expecting high quality audio for my routines and tracks with this. (Earlier I just used my phone's mic.) This will allow me to get creative and post high quality beatbox content. I love the fact that it's so very small and handy; plus it can be used as a USB mic! I got it for 71 USB via Amazon India and I think it's such a great deal. I didn't get the APH-1 accessory pack because it's more expensive here. I've just ordered a compatible windscreen, a mini tripod and a hard case separetly, all under 10 USD. I'm also willing to learn mixing and editing (EQ, compression and all that good stuff...) beatbox/acapella, so that I'll be able to work on some awesome projects and collaborate with my artist/musician friends. (I guess the bundled software will come in handy here.) Anyway, I'm just super excited! Thanks so much for your videos! Take care. :)

Great video! Just got a H1N myself for the purpose of monitoring audio recording as my Sony camera doesn’t have a headphone jack (I’m almost amazed none of my shoots were messed up over the year when I did recordings where I just pray and hope for the best that my audio equipment doesn’t act up).
