The Last of the Iron Sisters: SWOLE Ep. 2

Спорт

In 2015, the women's bodybuilding division was dropped from Ms. Olympia - marking the possible end of women's bodybuilding. The Wings of Strength organization stepped in and started the Rising Phoenix competition to give these women a platform to compete.
In episode 2 of Swole, we follow pro-bodybuilder Helle Trevino as she prepares for this competition and talk to 8-time Ms. Olympia Lenda Murray and the founders of Wings of Strength about how they're pushing to keep the sport alive.

These ladies put so much blood, sweat, tears & heart into carving out their physiques and then their division was dropped!!! I can imagine how that would feel like the rug was pulled out from under them. They were left with no where to feature or show off their dedication. "Now what?" When you see how choked up Kristal Wood is, when she and Jake Wood are talking about Wings of Strength...you can see how much this baby means to her! I always wanted to go to see the Ms Olympia growing up...all divisions. I am glad these Women Bodybuilding athletes still have a showcase!!! 💗🙏🌺

It's not that society hates women with muscle. People need to stop saying that. It's when the women start to look like men because of the abuse of a male hormone that was meant for a man where things get out of control. Women are almost never the same and are changed physically for the rest of their lives. That's the problem. The first Ms Olympia had a great body and she wasn't gigantic nor did she look like a man. Men's bodybuilding is no different. The introduction of "Classic Physique" is proof that people are starting to move away from the mass monster look.

Everyone knows that, but in our times this nonsense about "acceptance" and "its cultural" gets ears of certain small, but an influential crowd that believes in bullcrap, though they should know better. The reason why female BB shows were canceled was because nobody wanted to see this, they stopped looking human. Aesthetics has its flow; there is such thing as too big. The human frame can take just a certain amount of muscle before it starts to look bizarre and unattractive.

@Mags Arkadiusz consider this. Testosterone is a male hormone. Not natural for a woman to have a high volume of testosterone. Thats why their voice changes and facial hair growth....yuck. No one wants to see that. Plus muscle on a woman to that level is not feminine or natural...most dont.want to see that.either. I am not being biased. If there was a competition for men ....where they took high levels of estrogen that gave them breast and made them look like women...I would be.just ad critical because it is not natural. Common sense. Quit the feminist thinking and use reasoning.

I have a lot of respect for these women, because no matter if you take steroids or not, you still have to do the work in the gym, and you still gotta have a ton of discipline. So hats off to that. And often times they have lovely personalities. What puts me off a little are the deep voices from the steroids... that's when you know they've taken it TOO far. Ok, with a woman's normal level of testosterone, there is simply no way to achieve this amount of muscles, so i see why they did it. But probably also to their detriment in the end.

It’s not hurting anyone for them to simply pursue their own goals. Not all women exist just to be appreciated by all potential on-lookers. I’d rather see this much outrage over the number of obese slobs clogging up our medical systems.

@@kennysalazar8192 its not. theres studies to prove it. think about this for 1 second. men are generally stronger than women why? testosterone is way higher in men. now think about this and its a proven fact. before puberty girls and boys play sports at a similar level. after puberty its not even close. even if the guy is lazy and doesnt excersize at all and the girl does the guy is 90% of the time going to be stronger. why? testosterone. boys going through puberty literally get stronger sitting on the couch. why do you think thats different if you take more of the same thing more than a human can get naturally. its obvious thats just the effect of the drug. it makes you stronger. you dont even have to do anything and it will still make you stronger. maybe not as much as if you worked out but it will make you stronger anyways.

There is nothing wrong about a woman's desire to be muscular. Unfortunately, many of the women at this level of the sport will take HgH and other Anabolics which will alter their jawline and deepen their voice among other side effects. This is where I feel the comparisons to male looks are apparent. I'm not sure why you would choose this option.

@@radicalbradical3164 if they have the genetics and potential why juice? Because if they don’t others will, and surpass them. So they’re forced to take steroids or quit the competition altogether. If everyone just stopped using steroids, you could just play with the genetics and potential you already have. There’s a larger audience i.e. kids growing up watching this and aspire to be like them and they’ll be driven to using steroids too. This shit is bad for your health. Tobacco is legal, although it’s bad for health. You could extend the same argument to steroids, that is legalize it and let people choose after being educated about it. But you don’t get an award or tons of Instagram followers for smoking; you will if you use steroids. It’s a tricky part, but please don’t glamorize it for the sake of health.
