Thanks for this video I can’t figure out how to remove the rotor. This is a weird design.😇 Most reels you just remove the washer/shims/bearings from the shaft, loosen the screw and the bolt holding the rotor and that’s it.

It does take a little bit in co parison but you need to unscrew the main shaft and then it’ll come off

if there's grease in them they fail. I run mine pretty much dry.

Clutch/sleeve assembly. Refer to the video description

There is no need to remove the main gear. Just take off stuff from the stock under the rotor and the anti reverse can be pulled off.

is this part the same for the Penn Pursuit III 5000? Thx

Yeah this just happened to mine as well.. in your opinion what do you think caused the clutch to fail?

I can’t even begin to think why. It just doesn’t seem like anything could cause it. The one thing I have noticed is that with clients (I’m a guide), some of them instead of manually flipping the bail down after casting, reel into it to make it auto flip down and this is terrible for the gears and just about everything inside. So if you do that, I’d stop. Other than that, I have no idea

@@surffishinginsocal For sure! Another possibility is that if the reel is casted accidentally with the bail closed, over time this puts wear on the clutch/anti. If these reels had antireverse switches instead then maybe it would resolve those particular issues.

@@alexistrujillo5855 My Battle ii 2500 has anti-rev switch and this part just failed. I'm sure it had been foul-casted a few times and bail forced closed with handle many times.

My battle 3 just started doing this when I was jerking a 1oz vibrating jig from weeds.

Mine broke from 35 pound grouper reel to small for it and the drag was locked down cause I was fishing for snapper in the rocks was fighting it then took my hand off and it spun backwards

I thankyou for your demo, but I feel you should have had better camera angles because there even times when the reel was not in the camera range and also not speed up the video. You may have done it many times, but some of us are attempting it for the first time and we may need better and more detailed not too mention slower. instructions.

Flush that AR bearing with some brake clean or denatured alcohol and I bet it works fine. Learned my lesson years ago after getting grease on an AR bearing.

Anti reverse is usually dirty with oil and grease , that is why it does not work You just need to clean it with kerosene and dry it then lubricate it with light silicone oil 3 in One silicone oil

Naw… that clutch gets worn out… especially if ur salt water fishing….
