    I have the same problem. After watching this I think I’m going to give it a try myself. Hopefully I’ll be able to just give the spring a bend and it’ll be ok. Unfortunately if a new spring is required there is 3 to choose from. You have to look under the main gear and find a number that is stamped on the inside to find out what version is needed to make the purchase. Lol. Wish me luck.

    Thanks for watching. There's only two options. If your dog has a groove in the middle of it, then you need the spring that wraps around the ratchet. The correct part number for that is 230n-5500, dog with leaves is 4-550... assuming the leaves on the dog or the spring (depending on your version) is damaged. Try mysticparts.com if you need to order either one. All the best with the repair.

    @@TSGReelService I just fixed it. Did exactly what you did, squeezed the spring tighter. But now that I know what I’m doing (thanks to you) I’m going to order a new spring. So if it happens again I’ll just pop in a brand new one. Thanks so much.

    I just bought two 5500ss and they had this problem. I took them apart and they looked great. One together and the antireverse works but I feel like it takes too long to engage. Long story short, I didn't know about these springs and I assumed friction on the "wings" engaged the dog. Cool video, I'm ordering springs now.

    Thanks for watching. There are two dig setups. One with the leaf on the dog and the other with the spring around the clutch. Make sure you're ordering the correct parts for your particular reels.

    @@TSGReelService ya man the ones I got have been worked. The housing is the old 1-5500 p/n but it has the slot for the c-clip on the dog. I just squeezed the spring fingers tighter and they seem to be in order. Thanks for your videos! I built some 9500ss reels watching your stuff also.

    hi! great video, really appreciate all your videos. one quick question, how did you end up getting the roter off? I am in a similar situation where mine is jammed on, I let it soak but still can't seem to get it off

  • @TSGReelService

    @TSGReelService

    9 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching! It's a graphite rotor so it can't be that stuck for you not to continue rocking it as you pull up...., unless the the pinion is frozen to the square washer inside.... or sometimes the rotor gets "rounded" off on the pinion. One I use heat for and the other, I'll secure the pinion with a vise grip and hand rotate the rotor until it "feels" free-er. Best advice I can give you for these scenarios is take it to your local repair shop.
