    Thank you so much! I just disassembled, cleaned and reassembled my Penn Pursuit III 5000 LE reel successfully. I surf fish and my rod been submerged. I rinse it off with water but I noticed when feeling it was hanging up some. So I watched your video many times, took pictures when breaking reel down and took notes with each step. I have never seen the inside of a reel until now. When I took the cover off I was shocked at the corrosion and sand inside mixed in with the reel grass. I am amazed my reel worked at all. I had to do a thorough cleaning. I used an entire can of WD-40, lots of Q-tips, soaked the rotors in WD-40 overnight. Let them air dry. Then used fine sand paper because there was some pitting of the metal rotors. I was able to smooth them out. Oil and greased everything good. I have to say I had a problem with the drag when I purchased it but didn't know enough about reels to know better. The drag now is loose like it should be when I loosen it. So now I know what to expect. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

    Excellent news, Janet! Glad to hear the video helped you get the reel fixed up and you now have confidence in it. Great job of taking notes and pics along the way! I loved your comment on how surprised you were it even worked at all.... this is the norm, so don't feel bad... which is why routine services are good. It's amazing the places sand, grime and salt can end up. Check out my video on how to restore your bearings... you may find it useful: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mniMktxxaZyre6Q.html More vids to come. Hello Barry, that was interesting, line roller at 14.18 , there was no ball bearing, just a teflon bushing. Hmmmm... I remember, in a reel spinfisher the small pivot arm was broken ( at 12.55 ) . I quickly made a new one out of stainless steel. My wife is still looking for her stainless steel knife. Lmao.🤣🤣🤣😉😉 You did a good job on that reel , it is as good as new now. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🐟🐟🐟😀😀😀

    I had tried to cleanup a pursuit 6000 last year following this video and things didnt work out, I kept all the parts together. I tried it again today and have a working reel now thanks for this thorough and well explained video. Two things which I had to fix were a rusty jammed AR and a dent in the body misaligning the gears.

    Nice tutorial. Now I know how disassemble the reel. Now I need a tutorial on how to disassemble a rusted reel. I cannot get the stack on the pinion off. Its only slightly rusted on the inside. This reel is shot but I need the pinion for another reel. Nothing on the pinion budges...Broke the pinion trying to get the last peice off

    Also I have a question. I seem to have dropped/ lost the wire that would go over the brass looking ring @ minute 25:45 what will that affect since I cant find it? 😯

  • @TSGReelService

    @TSGReelService

    3 жыл бұрын

    It affects the backup dog... doesn't affect the performance of the reel.... unless your a/r clutch fails. 🙂 You should be fine... leave the brass ring on the pinion, but remove the black arms for the backup dog... parts 4 and 10 on your schematic if you want to use it while you wait for the replacement spring you lost.

    @@TSGReelService do you mean the arm @ 19:50 or 31:30 . Or both?Aslo where can buy the part?

  • @TSGReelService

    @TSGReelService

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, exactly. 19:50 is the dog (back up) and 31:30 is the auto-engage arm. When you remove the dog in 19:50, remove the spring underneath it also (forgot to mention that before). If/when you get the replacement spring that goes around the gold ring on the pinion, you can refer back to this video for how to reset all of them properly. You should also take pics when removing the pieces, just in case.

    Can these parts affect the anti-reverse function? The antirevers dont work at all now since putting back together. Spool just spins freely in either direction. Idk if it does or if I may have done something when fitting back together or if anti-reverse clutch is now done as it seems to be going bad before.

  • @TSGReelService

    @TSGReelService

    3 жыл бұрын

    Not if you did what I recommended. If your a/r clutch was already going bad before you opened it up, you should replace it. May as well order the spring you lost while you're at it.
