Firstly I acknowledged that what I was doing (constantly thinking and replying the same thoughts daily) was not good for my body as it gave me severe anxiety, depression and bad health. I was stuck in my life and was able to do nothing. Secondly, out of anger and frustration I decided to change my situation and get out of the loop. Things that helped me- 1) firstly get closure. 2) no sad songs and series or any reel or video about breakup and heartbreak. 3) no contact rule also delete all your pictures, emails , ids together unfollow him and his friends and basically delete his existence. 4) Believe you are strong and independent and if someone has gone there is nothing you can do. Everything happens for a reason. 5) Make a Daily routine and follow it , in oder to keep yourself busy . 6) don't replay what happened or the past memories or the questions arising in your brain. remember they are not going to help you in any way they are not your 'ANSWERS' you are only creating more difficulty in your life (anxiety, depression) 7) Read self help books ( I read 'Master your emotions' and 'Power of your subconscious mind' etc..) they really help in reconstructing your thought process and teach you ways to get yourself out of that loop. 8) A morning walk / exercise/ meditation really helps. ( I used to go to my terrace for a quick 30 min walk with bhajans playing in my mobile ) meditation also helps and healing musics also helps a lot. 9) You have to create Goals and Aims for yourself so that you can get yourself busy and build yourself strong. 10) Talk with your friends but not about the breakup (1-2 day is enough to tell them what happened nothing more than that will help you, remember the more you talk about it, the more you'll think about it and then it will result in mental suffering) and spend time with them , hang out with them and socialize with new people. 11) I know it is not easy, but try to welcome positive thoughts only and try to avoid as much as you can all those negative thoughts, memories and questions arising in your mind. 12) Follow these things right after your breakup/heartbreak for 2-3 months straight and this will help you grow and protect your mental health. (You will feel after 10-15 days that you are healed and you no longer have to follow these things but it's not true if you stop your routine the loop will start again.) It's okay to get your heart broken, you're not alone. I hope these things help you . Remember there's no required time for healing some can forget and heal in just 10 days and for some it might take many weeks or months to heal . It all depends on your interpretation of what happened and your way of thinking and coping.

*Use this time to grow and understand yourself better* - Take long walks and be mindful of your surroundings - Never blame on the outside, it won't resolve your issues - Be with your loved ones and talk to them if you have to, but don't mope too much

My boyfriend left me 2.5 months ago and it is SUCH an awesome feeling to know that i'm already doing everything you're advising. It feels good to know I'm on the right track!! It has been REALLY hard but I was NOT going to be a ball of self pity for the rest on my life. When life knocks you down, you have the pick yourself up, dusty yourself off and say to the world, "is that all you got? ". I'm no where near completely healed but I know i'm on the right track. Thanks for the video.

This really is hitting me hard, someone did me wrong and left me with really not much to work with. Just left with no closure or any reasoning and we were very tight, but had issues like any normal human.

Man, this video really helped me. I'm glad I found this, I just got over my first breakup, and I felt like there was just this hole in my life. What this video teaches is that what you have to do in this situation, is to focus on what makes you happy, not what used to make you happy.

I'm grateful that the day after we broke up, I had to go to work for the next 6 days. Although it was hard working night shift and being alone for most of it, it made me get up and get out of the house. I would add to consider a psylocibin or ayahuasca session with a facilitator to process those ultra painful subconscious teachings. Also to quiet the constant rumination. Nothing wrong with a little physiological help along the way!

I broke up because the lying never stopped, the trust got broken again and again, and the final big promise he broke was where I had to protect myself and draw the line. I realized that no more empty promises will fix that broken trust this time, since the behaviors always remained the same. I had to let him go, and I am actually doing well. I feel like I chose myself for once, and that was such a healthy decision towards myself.

Hi Brendan I’ve been in phase one a few times! The last phase one with my husband taught me that he was actually a psychopath and I was love starved from a pair of dysfunctional parents. Where do I go from here when I had to move far away and start again with two kids 🤔

My girlfriend left me for someone else immediately after our breakup. It's clear what was going on before we broke up. It's really hit me hard and I've had my entire life turned upside down -- moving out, separating our phone plans, getting everything settled... not to mention she's totally ghosted me and left me without my partner who's been by my side all day, every day, for almost 4 years. It's been just about 2 weeks since our breakup night, and I'm getting better every day. But still, every day, I get a moment or 2 or 3 where I'm hit really hard and I get very emotional and I feel really badly. Someone who I've made memories with, who I wanted to marry and have children with, we traveled together, took thousands of pictures, all of a sudden now there's nothing. She blocked me on all social media and my phone calls. For sure, I've deserved this. I did this to an old girlfriend of mine, and actually I left that girl for the one who just broke up with me. I am now reaping what I have sown, and God as my witness I'm sorry for the hurt I've caused. But now it's come full circle and I must deal with the pain. I know it will get better, and that I have to separate the things we used to do together from her, so I can reclaim myself (like going out to eat, which I just did with my parents and it was very difficult for me). I haven't even watched the video yet, but I just feel so pent-up with this emotional energy that I want to let it out. I've written so many letters to her that will never get sent, I've written emails that I've deleted, journal entries that I hope no one sees. Life throws you curve balls sometimes, and things that you thought were certain are not at all. This was a big wake-up-call for me. I've never had this happen and I have to say that I've been utterly devastated. I know recovery is a long hard road and you can't make it go any faster. I wish I never had to be on this road at all. I am sorry man for your break up. I really feel you as it happened with me too. But not as dramatic. My difficulty though with western style relationship is that why would you take 4 years to for dating and yet not married? In 4 years of course it's highly likely that you would grow apart or some big argument would show up and break you apart. Within marriage there's a contract and people are bonded even stronger. Handling things with the long-term mindset would be possible. Well, it's your and your principles. Mine is just a friendly suggestion of an alternative way. God bless you and hope you recover soon and get even better as a personality.

This is very true, however, there are different situations and different circumstances. For me, I'm currently pregnant and my now ex fiance of 5 years unexpectedly walked out to "find himself." Hasn't been to one prenatal appointment and it's literally like pulling teeth to get a hold of him now. In my opinion and with my experience, a breakup is hard enough but being pregnant through a breakup (that wasn't my choice) and then knowing I'm always going to have to deal with this person who crushed me is a lot harder than someone who breaks up and isn't pregnant or has kids together. Because then you can totally cut that person off and not be reminded of what happened. You can't just cut someone off when you're having a baby together or have children together. It's been very stressful for me because I thought I knew this person so well and now with everything that has happened I feel like I don't. Never thought I'd be in a situation where I'm going through pregnancy by myself. It's hard to understand a man walking away unexpectedly specially when he showed nothing but excitement to get married and have a baby. We didn't get engaged because of a baby. We actually have been engaged for couple years and I'm currently 5 months pregnant. I feel awful that my baby is going to be born into the world with this chaos going on. Someone so precious and innocent in all of this. I'm super stressed about a lot but also trying to heal and prepare myself for a new baby🤰❤

Hello. I hope you and your baby are doing great. Your story touched me. My boyfriend and I separated after 8 years together but we don't have any children together & I can tell you I feel like my heart is in a million pieces. So I can't imagine your pain of going through this while pregnant. I hope you're okay.

What about being in service? Like benevol organisations, isnt this a very good way of connection too?

I just had a break up with someone who meant so much to me , they said I was emotionally dependent and I complain alot on why they take hours sometimes even day to reply my messages... But I feel so sad because I'm feeling maybe if I didn't care that much they will be still in my life , and they went ahead to block me on every social media and messages app i can contact them, and it hurts so bad !! I feel like I was selfish or something ..

It's one thing to let go, it's another when the person who broke up with you WON'T let you go...why???...the honeymoon phase has most likely ended they're now seeing who their new partner REALLY is. Another factor...they're sooo afraid of losing you because you are their comfort zone in the midst of the emotional and psychological He77storm they created for themselves as a result of the bad decision(s) they made.
