    So…. The FI32Q is a “better” M32Q that is now selling for $30 LESS than the M32Q (July 2022). Needless to say, I just ordered one. 90% of this review is based on the (bad) value proposition and the overpriced launch pricing. I understand it. Giving people an honest opinion on an overpriced item is a good thing. But, with price drops it makes it hard to keep a valid review. People use KZread a lot for product education and advice. If this monitor was being reviewed at current market price ($399) I am pretty sure it would have gotten a rave review.

    If you have a decent RGB light against the wall, it lights up the wall quite a bit, so you can definitely see it. It can actually look pretty cool in darker environments since it can light up the whole wall in fancy colours. It's not pointless per say, but yeah, I wouldn't say it should factor into the value at all considering you're buying a monitor, not decorative lights.

  • @HDJess

    @HDJess

    True, I wonder the same. I never have to look at the back of my monitors, except when I clean them from dust. I think gamery looks on monitor are STUPID and a waste of money, they should invest those in a better overdrive as the image quality is why you buy a monitor and nothing else really matters.

    I put rgb behind my monitor to give bias lighting. It actually really helped my eyes and makes the blacks appear darker on my TN panel. Of course this requires it to be bright enough to illuminate the wall behind it

  • @tacowang

    @tacowang

    2 жыл бұрын

    Its not the back of the monitor that you look at, it’s the reflection on light off the wall called bias lighting that helps you with eyestrain and tricking your eyes into seeing better contrast at night (although pure white high cri would be ideal)

    Perhaps, because the overwhelming majority of reviewers, especially on KZread, do not measure anything (or at least nothing beyond basic values like brightness or at best gamut coverage, while also considering the latter equivalent to color accuracy), while also having little knowledge as to how a good monitor performance looks. Most of them simply are all talk, playing influencer instead of actually reviewing the product. Why? Well, guess what, actual monitor testing is significantly more difficult than benchmarking a random game. It is a similar game like it was with case reviews before Gamers Nexus existed really. Meanwhile, Steve shows us quite clearly that certain products fall apart when thoroughly assessed for their qualities in relation to their price, which is to be expected and the precise thing a reviewer should expose. Going with the recommendation of many other reviewers on the other hand, means basically considering anything expensive good - something the FI32Q seems to profit quite strongly of off.

    Edit: great monitor. Love it and it was very affordable here. I personally don't mind the "low" pixel density at all and gaming is a breeze. I just suffer from the weird usb bug where the KVM will stop working randomly when connected to my b450 board. It works flawlessly on my XPS 13 as well as my steam deck... Original post: Thank you, Tim. A bit later and in Germany the M32Q costs about 110Eur more than the FI32Q (440 vs 330). I am so happy I found your video. I really wanted the M32Q and now it is basically the same thing at a discount. It will be wall-mounted, so I don't care about the gamer aesthetics anyway. Might be like a bit of backlight against the wall then. Great video as always and fortunately the downside of the monitor is not anything for me.

    There are some significant differences with sound support and KVM function. The M32Q has 3xType-A USB ports that are switched with the KVM function. It also has a headphone out port where audio from the selected DP or HDMI input sent. The FI32Q has only 2xType-A USB ports that are switched with the KVM function. It also has a built-in ESS SABRE HiFi USB sound card which they neglected to switch with the KVM function, and there is no way to access the sound from the selected DP or HDMI input. Most gamers use a USB headset anyway so will not be using the monitors sound function. However if you have ideas of using the KVM function and expect sound to switch, the M32Q is the better option. You can plug your USB headset into the 3rd port on the M32Q and it will switch along with the keyboard and mouse. There is no solution with the FI32Q unless you buy an additional USB hub. However the FI32Q is heavily discounted and is priced less than the M32Q, so that may be the deciding factor. Very happy with every other aspect of the FI32Q.

However, I would personally like to see more competitive gaming features reviewed. For example, youtuber Bijan Jamshidi compares color vibrance and black equalizer combos in addition to backlight strobing features between monitors. These things are valuable information to me personally and benefit those people who play e-sports-like games. But anyway, thank you Hardware Unboxed for doing outstanding job with your monitor reviews. You are basically the only people on KZread who I trust when picking monitors.

    You know, it just occurred to me that we have more, higher quality review data available to us as consumers in the tech space than we’ve ever had at any point that I can recall. I bet these manufacturers just LOVE that shit lol

    Tim, please make a video about upscaling 1080p to a 1440p and a 4K monitor. And even upscaling 1440p to a 4K monitor. I still play at 1080p on a 24.5" 360Hz monitor and I'm on the fence whether to upgrade to a 1440p display or a 4K display. I do have the hardware to run both (10700K, 3080), but I still do play a lot of older games that are limited to 1080p only. I've heard that playing 1080p on a 4k monitor looks slightly worse than a native 1080p monitor, but slightly better than on a 1440p monitor. But I'll love to see and hear your thoughts and conclusions on this.

    Hi guys! I like your videos. Could you please help me? I'm looking for a 32" IPS 1440p flat (non-curved) monitor. Prices are crazy in the EU. The FI32Q costs 700€ (820$) here. The M32Q 634€ (743$) and the PG329Q 805€ (943$) ! Any advice for a lower budget option?

    Do you plan on doing a review of the new Samsung Odyssey monitors? I guess I'm not the first one to ask this but I'm interested in the G5A (the flat 27 inch 1440p) and there are no serious reviews of it yet. And I'm wondering why they dropped the very good performing VA panel of the previous Odyssey lineup in favor of IPS. Couldn't they just make a flat version of the G7? :D From what I've seen about the G7, it had good enough colors and viewing angles on top of the very high contrast. If it only wasn't curved...Now the G5A comes and is flat but also IPS which means the contrast is suffering *sigh* Still interested in a review though!

    oke so i bought this monitor for 350 euro's it was cheaper than the m32q. Maby somthing for the video is recommanded picture settings, like brightness and gamma. I know every panel has it difference's and there is a personal prefference but some tips can help. Like you mention the sRGB modes has some flaws. But it keeps me with the quetions, should i use the srgb for gaming or should i try a custom mode, adjusting settings. If you can share your calibrated settings it gives noobs like me a ball park idea.

    At 6:48 the FI32Q is rated at 19.1% for Inverse Ghosting Rate. This is similar to the samsung ody. G7 which is a VA panel, you can also see that all other IPS monitors have very low Inverse ghosting, can someone explain this? Why does this IPS monitor has so much ghosting?
