Hello, Mark Rober. I am an engineer and computer scientist and I have been working with the US Government to develop these very defenses. I run a company which is developing a new version of the MQ-9 Reaper drone to combat mass drone attacks. I was understandably very surprised when I saw this video pop up and I am glad that the public is finally seeing the risk of these drones.
@sirsapphire3499
10 күн бұрын
I totally agree, but I think part of the problem was also lack of ability. I do think that there was a period where the public lacked awareness of the dangers of drones, but I also think there was debatably a period where the public began catching on but didn't have the ability to do anything about it yet. Thankfully, it seems that period is coming to its end as well.

The lesson here: Dont ask a weapons manufacturer if you want the simplest / cheapest solution... well to the majority of the problem anyway. All you would need to reliably take down an incoming light drone would effectively be a very large shotgun - with maybe 8, 10, 12 shotguns strapped together with the ability to fire as one. Fix a device like this on the top of every armoured vehicle or stationary asset, wether manned or automated with the same tracking technology used here and the attacking drone would need some pretty incredible manoeuvring to survive a 12 barrel shotgun blast, or blasts from this system. The only problem is that this wouldnt really be patentable.. and obviously would be used as a 'last line of defence' before impact. But having said that, if your other countermeasures and gadgets arent working and you dont have this last line of defence - those other countermeasures ARE your last line of defence.

to defend against force impact have a drone made of parts that hold together by elastic/ thread. after impact the parts will split appart on design and just pull back together the us military. already has a drone designed to land by crashing. same concept just have to alter it slightly to pull itself back together.
