Seriously, yes! I once watched a documentary about the ancient Greek gods. The narrator said that the people back then knew the stories weren't true, just stories that people enjoyed telling and hearing, just like the superhero stories of today! Somewhere along the line, someone either forgot the story wasn't true, or realized they could make money from it. Or both.

9:35 "I admit I have not really scratched the surface of evolution." I'll give him credit for being honest here. But here's a tip for all creationists - don't just scratch the surface, you need to actually learn properly and in depth what the theory says before can be in a position to legitimately criticise and call it false. Otherwise all you are doing is saying 'I don't understand it, therefore it is false'.

They don't even know the definitions of the big bang, abiogenesis and evolution.... They think it's one big mish mash of a theory that replaces their god. That is probably why they fight evolution so much. They should be fighting the big bang or abiogenesis, not evolution. I wish I could have matt and company when I talk to people on the internet about things... they have a lot of great answers and cut to the heart of topics very quickly.

+Robert C. Christian You're not far off. Evidence is completely how evolution has been proven to exist. However religion is irrational and people go about it from faith. Anyways the skeleton is fraudulent to try to bring in revenue or fame. It's just trying to create another Sasquatch and Nessy. Pictures of Nessy that were logs in the water and Sasquatch was a man in a suit and they proved these were non-existent as well. As for religion several christian scientist try to confirm things but there is no proof of God. Lot of great theories of why we build an afterlife was created upon the fear of death and to figure out several things that were unexplained. Ceasar turned pagan holidays into christian to end sacrifice. The middle ages was to create a bit of order so people wouldn't murder steal and rape. Modern days we've gone to realizing religion and law should no longer be mixed because it can attack human rights. Darwin has several theories that have shown evolution through traits and adaption. Since that theory stronger and stronger have we found more. Such as through DNA. Ancestry chain goes far back as Africa. Then they found how it was possible to evolve and reason to evolve so quickly. 150k years ago we were still in trees 2 million years ago Lucy and even older Salomon fossils of our early ancestors. Though evolving from monkeys is inaccurate as we came from a different chain of humanoids. Monkeys evolved another part of the hominid chain. added to that we've discovered there were other hominids who could use tools. They were much shorter. . Now we have to look at the most realistic theories to creation because we can't physically be there. We can also go back that the oldest religion found was 70,000 years ago and worshiped snakes which from that some guy was standing in a chamber behind the structure of worship so they could hear the man's voice and believe the snake structure was speaking. this was much further back then Christianity existed and all of the religions that exist today. So even if they could theorize a religion to be real based on time people's religions didn't even exist over 5000 years ago. Added with the telescope we're taking pictures of dead stars and seeing what happens when a star dies to create additional ideas and possible proof that The Big Bang Theory was true. Also those christians and religions that believe there is no life out there our telescopes have found many earth like planets with possible things growing on them as well as even more recently a new solar system with a planet they believe is inhabited. We would never be able to go there as we don't have the technology to do so,

Awesome just learned about the small race with tools just last years in my universities anthropology class. Anamism is pretty interesting too. I did a project on the Wendat burial rituals last year. It had a really interesting history. They're animism involved practices with burial pits and honoring the dead. Bones were even sacred objects. currently it even effects the people cause lot of the bones have been dug up and put in museums. The Huron wish these bones to be placed back so they could have a Feast of the Dead and rebury. Animism is interesting as it can involve animals and sacred objects like bones. Unfortunately as Anthropology can bring about knowledge it can also do a lot of damage in areas such as archaeology. Lot of artifacts in museum disrespect the cultures they come from and often also are stolen. Another issue is lot of artifacts are also vandalized by tourist. It can be a rough territory at times. Another thing anthropology can be used as a military tactic also. In WWII it was actually used to bring the Japanese down. Through cruel interrogations they discovered how their enemies worked such as if they killed the emperor they'd never stop fighting. After World War II Japan had changed. A new anthropology has started to come out too. somewhere around the time settlers were coming to North America about 50 million people died around the time. Can't remember the year that was given. However apparently those 50 million deaths plus adding to many changes since then such as pollution and rise in population war running out of trees due to coal, etc. We have had a lot more CO2 and possibly also what has caused us to have more weather disaster even recent tsunami's and such all because of history. My professors state why history is so important is cause the past can still be effecting the the present. Just more modern research into some new data in Anthropology.

Edwin Hubble's measurements of the distances of galaxies and subsequently their speeds away from us are the foundation of the Big Bang theory. That led to the prediction and discovery of the cosmic microwave background. I think it is important to state that BBT came from observations first, and then hypotheses to explain it. In any case, *something* happened 13 billion years ago, and it was hot and loud.

Consider the Twelve Foot Giant. If his proportions and density are the same as a 6 ft. human, he is - twice as tall; has for times the surface area; and eight times the mass. The cross section of his femur is four times the smaller man, yet the weight they must support is eight times greater, and thus the cross section to weight ratio of the femur is halved. Then consider what would happen if all your bones were reduced to one half their current cross section; in a mild jog, your femurs might very well snap; you would certainly be far more fragile - and yet, you would require approximately eight times the food and water. It's not that you'd go extinct - it's that you couldn't evolve in the first place, certainly not in the presence of the 6 ft. competition. Human form is a function of human size, just like every other species.

Their scientific assertions don't deserve serious consideration.

Colin Barr I don't know of that specific example, but to me it really doesn't matter how someone 'tries to use science'. Their claims either stand or crumble on their own merit backed up by evidence. You seem to think I'm not familiar with what you're talking about but I am, apologetics use this all the time, a little bit of science then they can kinda point to something vaguely from the bible and say 'therefore god'....I'm unimpressed myself.

  • @hrsqsiest

At the end of the video, Matt said it all with "If you had a good reason, you wouldn't need faith". Christianity either stands or falls on faith. The bible clearly says that you must have "faith". No evidence is given and none is needed. The only requirement to being christian is "faith". Christians are willing to make up anything in order to justify their "faith". Why do you think it is that their "evidence" for God, falls apart with merely a modicum of scrutiny? Besides the obvious answer that they don't understand science, "faith" cannot be shown through "evidence". If there were "evidence" for "faith", then it wouldn't be "faith" anymore. Faith can be neither proved nor disproved. Faith is the core tennant in religion. It was set up this way. In their panic to prove that a god exists, they are continually claiming false evidence that then points towards their faith being unjustified. Christians are doing the job of atheists better than atheists themselves. Let them continue.
