WHAT IS TALK HEATHEN?
Talk Heathen is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared toward long-form and on-going dialogue with theists & atheists about religion, theism, & secularism. Talk Heathen is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
Talk Heathen is filmed in front of a live studio audience every week at the Freethought Library of the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop & support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing & friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of government-religion separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists & to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

I usually like them getting more time to “show us their thinking” than Matt allows. But none of them seem very good at dealing with “simple thinkers”. Not necessarily meaning dumb people, but people who have never in their life experienced and interacted with complex conversations and problem solving (although can be masterful in complex mechanical things). Some callers are just dumb as rocks, but others have simply lived decades without ever having discussions like this and don’t even realize the shortcomings. I don’t think Ernie ignored the host, like a lot of them do, but you could tell immediately there was no real connection. He didn’t have the ability for what the hosts wanted from him. Ernie probably is perfectly capable in at least two languages, it’s not “big words” in and of themselves that are a problem. It’s the way you need to process the thoughts. Probably neither side thinks the communication problems were due to them. Sorry I’m rambling. I just find it frustrating when people cannot communicate. It’s sort of my thing.

No , but the people who first discovered it ,were probably unfamiliar with the concept of dinosaurs. But dragons were a part of their culture. That ,in a nutshell, explains how religions come to be. Borrowing myths and stories from other traditions and cultures. Take Cane and Abel ,Cane killed his brother and then built a city ( as he was the third or fourth proto-human ,I dont know who lived in his ' city' ), Romulus killed his brother and built Rome .

Elgar, the composer, had a close friend who was a bit of a hunter. So Elgar gave him the nickname "Nimrod" and wrote him a piece of music in his "Enigma Variations". It's the last one of twelve variations and it's jaw droppingly beautiful! When it's playing I can see tge British countryside in my mind's eye. Swooping as if I was a drone over trickling streams, bright yellow fields of Oilseed rape, aged wizened oaks in untouched primeval forest with an achingly blue sky above dotted with "little fluffy clouds" (another great piece of music) Treat yourself. A comfy corner with a view out of the window, headphones, play Nimrod by Elgar followed by Little Fluffy Clouds by The Orb. ☮️💜😃

I know the giants thing is silly. Do u believe that giants once walked the earth? Lovelock caves in northern nevada found them the Paiute indians have them. Giants werent like 20ft tall. We r talking basketball players. U know. People were shorter. So the story goes that the native americans fought these giants because the giants would take the indians and kill and eat them in this cave. When scientist got to this cave they found bones of giants and native americans. Also skinwalkers r a whole thing in this area. Anyway. Giants called jotunes r also in scandanvian mythology and african ext. The lovelock caves actually found 10 ft whole bones. The Indians set a fire in this cave to kill them. U can still see the charred remains in the cave. U can go into it and they tell the story. I find it interesting. Don't be mean to me. K?. Promise. Lol. 😂 I used to be catholic and I've experienced some crazy paranormal shit as a kid and teen. That might be my biggest hurdle with being a atheist. Because I experienced Shit. I'm working on it.
