SHOW NOTES
Greetings Heathens! Hope you all are doing well today. In today’s episode of Talk Heathen, Vi La Bianca is joined by longtime friend Dave Warnock. It’s awesome to see you Dave, Carpe the F*cking Diem!
Let’s get to calls! Isaiah from Hawaii would like to talk about how the legends of God are like the telephone game and that the original story has evolved over time. (HA!) Interesting take, but why do we need to attach God to origins?
John in California is up next, he asks about becoming an atheist while his family continues to believe. He explains how his wife is frustrated with his change and says how she feels “catfished” with his newly skeptical life.
David in California is wondering about keeping nostalgic icons and art of when they were religious after deconverting.
Renee in California wants to talk about the spiritual realm and if we as Atheists believe in it. Is it bad to believe in it? She has some interesting “theories” on some things and may be more of a victim of her own religious biases.
Arden in Canada is next up, wanting to talk about nihilism and it’s forms. Some of this philosophy goes over my head, but this is a great conversation.
Jake in Texas is wondering what he can do to help his mom who has seemed to become very brainwashed due to Christian sources and QAnon. Dave recommends cutting off these fringe ideas.
Our last caller, Noel in Michigan is wondering since Genesis is not accurate why doesn’t the entire thing fall apart. Great question!
That’s our show for this week, please continue to be safe in your area, wear your mask. The world is better with you in it. See you next week!

WHAT IS TALK HEATHEN?
Talk Heathen is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared toward long-form and on-going dialogue with theists & atheists about religion, theism, & secularism. Talk Heathen is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
Talk Heathen is filmed in front of a live studio audience every week at the Freethought Library of the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop & support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing & friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of government-religion separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists & to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

@@nagranoth_Much of what are known as Isaac Newton's occult studies can largely be attributed to his study of alchemy.[2] [...] During Newton's lifetime, the study of chemistry was still in its infancy, so many of his experimental studies used esoteric language and vague terminology more typically associated with alchemy and occultism.[4] It was not until several decades after Newton's death that experiments of stoichiometry under the pioneering works of Antoine Lavoisier were conducted, and analytical chemistry, with its associated nomenclature, came to resemble modern chemistry as we know it today." (Isaac Newton's occult studies, Wikipedia) "Alchemy (from Arabic: al-kīmiyā; from Ancient Greek: χυμεία, khumeía)[1] is an ancient branch of natural philosophy, a philosophical and protoscientific tradition that was historically practiced in China, India, the Muslim world, and Europe.[2]" (Alchemy, Wikipedia) There you have it. His whole shtick was basically protochemistry, before more was known about chemical phenomena, when chemical reactions still seemed mysterious, esoteric even. Doesn't mean Newton was an occultist in any useful sense of word.

Its theories and practices were mostly bullshit, but these were nonetheless genuine attempts at cracking the secrets of chemicals. Like when the guy beat his donkey because it went off the road because he didn't see what the donkey saw. Which was an angel that the torah called a satan. Also I've wondered why in the book of job, supposedly the oldest book of the torah, satan was not only walking around heaven full of angels talking to and betting with god and nobody freaked. The freaking angel who tried to dethrone god was walking around talking to angels and hanging out with god. Am I crazy for thinking that's crazy? The jews love satan because satan helps them keep being faithful. As a rabbi I heard say, what value is being chaste if everyone was chaste. I don't know what you mean when you say zero answers? First, there has to be questions before you can even attempt to have answers. So, what is the question? Most atheists just say that there is no evidence of a god. You could begin by asking a theist, for example, which god, how do you define your god, where's your proof/evidence that your god exists OR created the universe, and how can we know that your god is the true god and not some other religion's god or is more real than say fairies or Big Foot or unicorns? There's no evidence for them either. It seems that theists don't really have the answers either; just a lot of made up stuff. For proof or evidence you can't just use the Bible. You need to use the Scientific Method to discover the evidence based on facts. Or how about just plain old logic? Oh yeah, I forgot to ask how do we know your god is not really The Goddess? Remember, she was around millennium before your god arose much later among these backward desert tribes. In actuality, ancient myths tell us she gave birth to your god. Know your human history!
