Not necessarily, I work in Healthcare and I have met tons of incredibly stupid or naive doctors and nurses. When covid was in its prime, we had to fire about 1/4 of the nurses on staff and at least 1 doctor for refusing to get vaccinated or wear masks. These were people who have been in the field for years and years. Can't fix stupid even with years of training and school.

People who believe in conspiracies generally value their own personal experiences above all else. Christians often believe that they have a personal relationship with Jesus, so it fits pretty neatly into the non-conspiracy part of their brain. Indoctrination also plays a big part in that as well.

We MUST. I have been vocal about this for 20 years now. I think we need something like "Internet hygiene" starting in elementary school and covering everything from when and how to share pictures or information about yourself safely, over how to consume media responsibility, to how to research information and weed out bullshit. More generally, we need a format of education which would stop stressing information alone, and start putting more stress on how to consume information critically. It is good that I know the French revolution happened in 1789. But I would much rather be able to explain WHY it happened, what effects it had in the short and long-term, and how we can critically consider it.

This is so disturbing on so many levels. It's like she's one of those Russian dolls with smaller dolls inside each one, except she has a whole new horror of misinformation instead of dolls. I don't understand why Eric is so excited by it, because she is clearly not willing to listen to reason and logic. The fact that people like her are out here voting is not exciting, it's horrifying. I wish they'd pressed her harder when she claimed she "worked" with doctors in the Navy, because I'm curious if that actually includes talking to them about vaccinations and autism. Wow, I just stumbled across this again, 4 years later, and I'm horrified by this all over again. Rereading my previous comment, I feel I should have said that people who believe they are speaking in tongues are probably able to convince themselves that it's real, but at some level, they are still faking it, even if they've made themselves believe it. The other thing that jumped out at me this time, is I wish they'd pointed out to her when she "researches" these things on the internet, the algorithms on Google keep track of her searches, and they will feed back to her new articles and videos that are similar to the ones she clicked on before. So if she clicked on misinformation, the algorithm will give her more misinformation.

These guys are excellent. He manages to debate and challenge without being confrontational and trying to belittle the caller. This is the only way that these people will become open enough to see the light and see that their view is wrong.

Some people believe that the Moon is a projection. I know at least one person who believes that. She has yet to prove to me how the whole thing would actually work. She also believes in *some* science, so I ask her to get rid of her phone. She just laughed.

This is sad. The way some people literally eschew BASIC reasoning and critical thinking because of religious brainwashing is sad AF

I wasn't diagnosed until I was 40. If you'd suggested autism to my parents as an explanation for my quirks they have laughed you out of the room. Because I was "too smart" to be autistic. Our diagnostic criteria had changed so much over the years, that's why we're seeing more diagnoses now, and people like me are finally getting diagnosed decades later.

Top Tip for parents of young children. Go out this weekend and buy your kids some books on Science and the Universe and start teaching them about the Planet they live on.

As a member of the US military, I am so embarrassed.

Critical thinking needs to be taught in elementary school. That's what this video boils down to. Don't wait till college, it's too late by then.

With people like here on this world I'm surprised we're still here.

My sister in law had two kids before she started dating my brother, and one of them is autistic. There have been times where she blames herself for her son having autism, even though she knows that there is nothing she did to cause it. Unfortunately, sometimes our emotions mess with our heads. :(

I would absolutely watch the Danielle show. My neck would hurt from shaking my head.

What you should have maybe asked: ” Did you cherry-pick evidence?” “Did you only count hits and not misses?” “How do you compensate for biases?” These are mistakes I do all the time, and I’ve studied philosophy of science. Laymen usually aren’t aware these things even exist. It’s ok to be wrong. But your epistemology should not be badly broken.

My favorite is the exodus from Egypt. I think a first step is stop letting these people claim they “researched” something, or that they did “research”. They didn’t do research. They read some blogs and Facebook posts and watched some KZread videos that played to their fears and biases. Not a one of them “researched” anything. They merely collected some anecdotes and rhetoric, most of which they do not understand at a fundamental level.

If Danielle was in Africa and other countries then she should have known that some of those children are starving, dying and barely getting any medical help. Where's her so called "god" there? All that education wasted.

It hurt me so bad to hear she was a Corpsman. So many lives have been saved by Navy Corpsman. So many knowledgeable people I know who have gone on to be Nurses, PAs, and Physicians. I also did know a Corpsman who believed that blood was blue until it touches the air....... You cannot judge based on a non-comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Continue to learn, expand your understanding but know you can never know everything. Also blood is red, vacancies svae lives, the earth is spherical, and Corpsman are heros. Thank you for your service Danielle, keep an open mind and live a happy life.

What absolutely amazes me about Flat earthers is that they fail to recognize or know that the second they talk about latitude/longitude, use a "map" with latitude or longitude, they are acknowledging that the world is a sphere. There is no such thing as latitude and longitude on a flat surface, period.
