WHAT IS TALK HEATHEN?
Talk Heathen is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared toward long-form and on-going dialogue with theists & atheists about religion, theism, & secularism. Talk Heathen is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
Talk Heathen is filmed in front of a live studio audience every week at the Freethought Library of the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop & support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing & friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of government-religion separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists & to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Milk, sugar, butter and lard. 1,2,3,4... Also, you need some vanilla too. SR: So, I need 5 things, not 4, right? Caller: No no no. It is still 4, but... it is 4 things WITH some extra vanilla also. There is still 4 things okay. That vanilla is just one of those presupposed, already implied apreoi things. This was the most pleasant and productive I’ve ever seen a conversation with Mr. Deliceux go.
So by redefining scripture to be only those parts of the bible that do not have contradictions attributed to the direct voice of god, there are no contradictions? Sure, and my car has no dents or rust spots if I define those as not attributable to the car.

I think Mr. No Contradictions would benefit from a prescription for Valium.
The caller is such a special and smart boy.
He’s referring to the quotes attributed to god in the Bible but many people say the entire Bible is the word of god
"God has no contradictions. You must believe in my god. Then you must believe everything I say and do everything I tell you to do. Never question me. Live your life only the way I tell you to live, and give me money."
If someone says there's no contradictions in the bible what they say is they never read the bible
In other words "If you ignore the contradictions in the Bible, there are no contradictions in the Bible."
Is this the seven days guy that tried to change his voice at the start, but then after a while started screaming as he always do? Edit (on Kenneth at the end). This is exactly as the spanish inqusition sketch. "Our two weapons are fear and surprise... and ruthless efficiency.... Our three weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency... and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope... Our four... no... Amongst our weapons... Amongst our weaponry... are such elements as fear, surprise... I'll come in again."
When people think getting louder is winning the argument 😂
It gives me secondhand embarrassment when a caller thinks they're right and stutters to prove it.
Does he want some cheese with that wine
Biblical scholars and Christian leaders of all types are fully aware of the contradictions in the Bible. While I don't buy into the pretzel logic they engage in to rationalize them (or the pretzel logic of religion in general), it is simply dishonest when Christians claim the Bible has NO contradictions...which leads me back to a question I often ask when confronted with Christian apologists: Why do they lie so much?
@kyleepratt

I love the critical biblical scholar take: the Bible isn't univocal. A bunch of different folks wrote and edited it, and different writers disagree with eachother. It's pretty straightforward.

Ezekiel 18:19 "The son shall not bear the guilt of the father" Exodus 34:7 "[god] will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations"
"I have found a few passages and interpreted them in a way specific enough to produce 4 or 5 criteria that makes 99% of my book non-canon and thus excuses all the contradictions found in that 99%, so the remaining 1% doesn't have any contradictions in it, probably". Congratulations?
I wish they would have brought up that assuming he is correct that the Bible doesn’t have contradictions, how that would make it true.
“4 and 5 are not the same number” 😂
You can tell from the callers voice, tone and the nerves laughing that hes the "know it all type" the "I'm always right type"
“A true Christian keeps the sabbath“ 😄

There was no early manuscripts found originally for Mark 16:9-20 verse's about two men having seen Jesus on the road to Emmasus

Apostle Peter: 'No contradiction's? Good thing that I didn't say anything opposite of what was written then.' (Acts 1:20 Psalms 69:25 "his," opposite word, "their.")
Wot a seven day joke
You get the impression for a lot of these callers that this is the first they've tried speaking their thoughts out loud.
Oh Mr Delicieux, one of the most dishonest trolls out there.
Isaiah 53 verse also mentions a past event that show's written by the word, ("was,") having been written
Matthew 7:1 vs Ist Corinthians 15:33 springs immediately to mind.
The word's written on in Psalm 105 and Psalm 96 are used on in 1 Chronicles 16:8-22 verse's to 1 Chronicles 16:33 verse
The Bible is a book of metaphors, and that’s what’s important. I see a story about people who think this guy’s idea of “God” is the right one. They think agreeing to sacrifice his own child to it was the “right” decision. Then a guy comes down and shows them that this idea of “God” was supposed to be about Love, rather than fear of his power…and we killed him for trying to teach that lesson because we thought he was challenging our idea of “God” and what was important. He showed that “The Way” was to Love something more than ourselves, but we all think that he’d want us to worship him. I’ll bet he’d find our worship of power or ourselves to be pretty gross. But, then again, I don’t know who I’m talking to, so God can just chime in, now, because I’ve got a few questions and a few bones to pick…about some acts of “God” in my life, and about what he let happen to Jesus.
I love how the caller started to laugh. That's not a crazy person laugh is it? 😅
Kenneth is amazing. I wish SR would drop the minor point of 5 or 4 being a relevant contradiction. If the caller wasn't so prideful, they could have just redacted and said they misspoke and gotten past this.
Rabbi Tovia Singer asks King David about Psalms 69:25: 'Were you talking about 1 person when you wrote that (whole) Psalm?'
Writer of Acts: 'No one was suppose to find that. I want all the evidence of contradictions destroyed.' (Acts 1:20 "his," singular meaning 1 person. Psalms 69:25 plural meaning many people.)
It's a book. Might as well be discussing Spiderman
Then 1 Chronicles 16:23 verse start's with the words of Psalm 96:1 verse: 'sing to the Lord a new song sing to the Lord ord all the earth.'
A verse from the book of Ezekiel is also shown written on in Revelation too
"It is most difficult to understand the disposition of the Bible God, it is such a confusion of contradictions; of watery instabilities and iron firmness; of goody-goody abstract morals made out of words, and concreted hell-born ones made out of acts; of fleeting kindness repented of in permanent malignities". MT
I’d recognize this guys voice anywhere. EVERY time he calls in, he is so amazingly arrogant, egotistical, and condescending. It’s truly baffling to me how he calls himself a Christian.
It took me three words to identify the seven day cycle guy. His combination of manic and smug is unique.
They're dying to say "You're person number 6,958,321 who has said that other people don't know how to interpret the bible." Or as I'd put it, until you can actually prove a god exists in the first place, by definition, nothing about this god you believe in matters. Also, it doesn't matter what's in the bible because you can't prove or disprove the existence of a god by reading out bible passages to a call in show.
Is this mr 7 day cycle?

The definition for the word, ("was,") is a word for a ("past tense,") event on in Isaiah 53
If obnoxiousness could be exchanged into wealth this guy would be one of the richest people on the planet😒
There are two thing's that are from the Gospel of Luke chapter 17 and Luke chapter 21 that are putted together and that are written on in Matthew chapter 24 about, ("the signs of the end of the age,") Matthew 24:1 verse to Matthew 24:51 verse.

The place of the feeding of the five thousand took place on in ("Bethsaida,") Luke 9:10. Then after dismissing the crowd Jesus sent the disciples to ("Bethsaida,") Mark 6:45 the SAME EXACT town which they were already on at
Ain't it amazing how _'humble'_ some of these faith-believers are? ps (edit): It's weird, though, how an almighty, all-knowing creator god couldn't be bothered to make sure there wouldn't be _any_ translation -or whatever other, errors to end up in those scribbles, and, instead, expect from us to take mere fellow humans on their word that when it reads _''and god said...''_ it's without error, as well as when it claims it's _''a prophet''_ speaking. I mean: if this god made sure that, in those cases, the scribbles are flawless, why not do the same for the rest of it, or, better still; tell _all_ of us directly _himself,_ like he supposedly didn't mind doing back then? With over a thousand Christian denominations in the US alone, each saying the others got it wrong, this guy's got quite the nerve, smirking to atheists about _''(...) not going to give a bible class''_ on how the damn thing should be read.
Delusion masked as over confident fast-talking is a helluva drug.
