1:03 Sonja is the only CO who hides her units health on the map. When you’re her opponent, you won’t know how healthy/injured a given unit is until you attack unless you pay really close attention to the numbers. Sonja’s units also gain additional vision with her COP (believe it’s by one additional space, but that one space can make all the difference). Her SCOP is a bit more than just “her COP but better” like most other COs as it gives her units the ability to automatically counter direct enemy attacks before the enemy fires, meaning they take even more reduced damage and deal more damage in return, potentially even defeating enemy units before they attack. When Sonja’s got her SCOP active, your best bet is to just play it safe and reposition your units for the Day unless you’re confident about the damage you can deal or if she moves in the range of your Indirects. Sensei also gets Sami’s APC/Landers/T-Copters in that they get 1 additional unit of movement (Sami loses that in Dual Strike). His foot soldiers aren’t as strong as Sami’s though and don’t have the 50% capture bonus Sami’s troops do. 2:15 Pro-tip: you can combine damaged units together, and their health will be the sum of their individual health up to 10. Any additional health beyond that gets converted into funds, 10% of the combined units’ production costs per additional health. This is a hint you get in Sensei’s first mission because that makes Sensei absolutely busted when he controls enough cities. Combining two of the new 9 HP Infantries gets you 800G to spend immediately whereas his SCOP produces Mechs instead which give you 2400G per combined pair, so Sensei does really well on maps with cities bunched up together as well as airports to make even more B-Copters (and Fighters/Bombers to protect said B-Copters).

They're really weird with these videos; showing AW2 COs but only mentioning AW1 changes. Not sure why they're trying to keep AW2 a "secret" like that. And the counter ability of Sonja is sadly only in AW2, though still not enough to make me enjoy playing her... I really like Sonja as a character, I just really don't like any CO where I can't rely on their damage to be what it says it is (sorry Flak...).

Still playing it, such a fun game. Really need a new Advance Wars!

While we have big hitters like Zelda and Pokemon, its always really special to see Nintendo bring back some of the lesser known IPs for the fans. Love to see it! Advance Wars lets goooo!

Kanbei: 20% markup (more cost) for 130/130, there's a reason why he's top tier solely because of the 130 defense Morale boost only affects attack, raising it to 150/130 (i think), while samurai spirit gives of 150/150 or 140/150 Either way, it discourages attacking once it's your turn Sonja: 100/100, HP is unknown throughout the game if you go against her, and +1 vision Enhanced Vision is what it sounds like, it's a torch that leaves no escape even in obvious hiding areas And Counter Break just gives first attack advantage, just think of it as Vantage from Fire Emblem Sensei: Copters get 140/100, infantries to 130/100(?) And +1 move to transports, but everything is 90/100 (i think) There's a reason why he's top tier, and it's because you get free infantry or mechs depending on the power, and it's entirely useful because its 9hp, the boost to his already good sides is just a bonus

@mushy Typing in "would of or would have" gave me way more results pointing out that would have is incorrect. A flawed phrasing refusing to die does not make it widely accepted. Sergeant is commonly misspelled as Sargent or Seargent. Doesn't make those other 2 spellings accepted. Language evolves slowly. We are nowhere near your world where "would of" in text isn't going to be pointed out as wrong or get bad marks on a school paper.

I was concerned they would skip Gold Comet since everyone has their attention on Tears of the Kingdom, now all that’s left is Black Hole.

Since you don't know much I'm here to give you some context: Kanbei likes Sonja because that's his daughter, and Sensei is actually a very strong commander from the previous game (Super Famicom Wars) but he got older and looks like a paratrooper.

@@ivanderschreckliche8385 Acknowledging that the game already got screwed over by the delay is giving them more reason. They obviously don't want the game to fail because of some avoidable controversy. Advance Wars is way smaller than Mario, so its tolerance towards bad faith controversy is way lower. Its similar to how Orange Star used to be Red Star in Wars games before Advance Wars, but it changed to Orange Star in the west due to the red star being associated with communism.

On PvP he's not that good. The problem in the Campaign is that they gave him too many pre-deployed troops, which basically throws his weakness out of the window. Although Max can easily best him in direct combat. In AW2 though.... yeah he is broken.

Guess that kind of depends on what your taste is as each faction has their share of nice designs. Orange Star has a lot of fairly modern looking vehicles and modeled after the US military. Their artillery sharing similarities to M109 Paladin and rocket unit based on the M270 MLRS. Fighter based on the F-15 and b-copter similar to the Apache. Green Earth is heavily based on Germany in terms of characteristics with infantry having German trench coats, their recon unit looks like a Vec-M1, I believe their b-copter is made to look like the Mi-24 and most notably their fighter resembles the A-10 Thunderbolt. Blue Moon is based on Russia particularly the Soviet Union around the 80s and you can tell how many of their units share Soviet era designs. Gold Comet is obviously based on Imperial Japan and other Asian countries with their unit designs sharing sort of WW2 appearances. Their fighter being a prop plane, their infantry uniforms having similar looks to Japanese soldiers in WW2, their medium tank oddly enough is based on the Soviet KV-2. Black Hole is all Sci-Fi with laser weapons, their tanks and other land vehicles hovering instead of having wheels or tracks, their aircraft sort of looking like spacecraft and their battleship and cruiser are the only ones with a different model, resembling the new Zumwalt Destroyer.

Changes the name from yellow comet for some reason. But doesnt change the obviously Imperial Japanese inspired unit designs. I guess they tried to cover up Kanbei with a cloak most likely so they can actually release this game in the rest of south east asia.

Sometimes I feel like you guys mention “Fire Emblem” in these comment sections just to keep that game franchise relevant somehow. It’s such a gross series honestly, why bother fetch new fans until they clean it up a bit? That stuff is waaay too sexual for kids, let alone for the US to have “unlocalized”. (Nowi and the whole “incest thing” with every Fates Supports for starters). Kind wish you guys would say something to IS (Intelligent Systems) about it or at least petition for cleaner games before looking for new blood, ya know? 🤷‍♂️

I’m sure this game is great, haven’t played it but why the F*** does nintendo push this game SO HARD. It’s received more promotional content from this channel than totk, pikmin 4 and botw combined

Its the smaller game. All the games you mentioned are big enough to sell on their own. Advance Wars hasn't had a new game in 15 or so years.
