Wayforward is really good at taking cute girls and making the cuter these guys are behind the shantae and river city girls series

I know a lot of people are worried about AW1 Max's 50% Direct, but keep in mind AW2 is in there as well. And in that game MAx is far more balanced with a 20% Direct boost. And I'm pretty sure multiplayer will mostly be AW2 era because you have a larger character roster and Super CO Powers. Same thing with Andy; He's kinda average at best in AW1, but in AW2 his SCO is sooo good.

The vibe from Sami in the remake is like the complete opposite of how I pictured her from the originals lol

​@@LHSMeleeClub Prsonnally, for me, she did feel like she was kind of the most professional minded, cool and collected one of the orange Star field COs (I said field COs, so not counting Neil who's everyone mom here :p) and her usual pose of having her machine gun on her shoulder gave her kind of "quiet strength" vibe compared to Max "in your face brute force" feel. While the animation and voice here in the remake, make her feel abit more childish, energetic and a bit cocky. (Then again, I suppose everything's relative, when your colleague are Max and Andy it's not hard to look like a fountain of calmness and a strategic genius by comparaison)

@@s.m.2523 bahahahah indeed. it is interesting when you put it that way. wayforward had a big hand in that probably since they dev'd this remake. kinda interesting cuz the same could be said about their flagship character, shantae. she also changed in the newer games compared to her gameboy interation. on gameboy she was way more snarky and short tempered, wheras, in the new games shes way waaaaay sillier and or childish O:

GBA's games are back, and not just for the NSO, remastered and better than ever! Let's hope we more games of the series AND new entries! :)

First of all, I know it was a difficult style to remake because the pixel art of the original was cartoony but at the same time ambiguous enough to also look like a real war (which it is, in-universe). They could've done something similar to Octopath traveler here, but instead they went full-blown "toy style", which by itself I think it's problematic, but it's also that here it's executed very blandly. No tilt-shift filter like in Link's Awakening, no plasticky textures, no bright joyful colors... also the animation work lacks punch, they are all going back and forth lamely like in a boomerang video from tiktok. Personally I don't like it at all, luckily they're just remaking two games I've already played, but I wouldn't like to see this style in future entries.

Is it Friday yet? I need this! And we need a new game in the series!

Glad to see that Sami's pros and cons are changed With that being said, stat time for the 3 of them [Andy] All units are 100/100 (meaning no strengths or weaknesses, with 100% attack and 100% defense) 2HP healing isn't all that great, but it can be nice to deny trades [Max] Direct combat units are 150/100, while indirect units suffer -1 range (rockets, artillery, battleship) and are 90/100 Max Force can literally go as high as 187/100, meaning some impossible trades (like normal tank vs medium tank) can be viable and you probably get punished less [Sami] Infantry units are 130/110, and capture rate is 150% (instead of 10/20, it's 15/20 at full HP), all transports have +1 movement speed, all other direct combat units are 90/100 and indirects are 100/100. Double Time is literally the cheapest CO power in AW1, and it raises the infantry attack/defense to 150/110, +1 movement speed, and all terrain cost is 1 (meaning any land terrain can be passed with no problems)

It seems likely that they will nerf Advance Wars 1 Max since he was so completely busted. Probably bring him more in line with Advance Wars 2 Max instead.

Andy Co Power is really really god what are you talking about. The thing about it is that it's very situational. Used Correctly it changes the tide of the battle but if used at the beginning of a battle it would do nigh.

​@@prismal418 It's really good against CPU players, and it can hard-counter the damaging CO powers. But overall, Andy isn't great in head-to-head matches against other COs when controlled by players. Not garbage, but not great.

​@@SaltyToad00 Not quite. Mario + Rabbids and Fire Emblem have something this game doesn't have; carrying over character progression from level to level. While you unlock new characters and maps, a tank bought in level 1 will be identical to a tank bought in the final battle.

The remake has Catherine wearing her U.S. localized version clothes, while Asu is wearing her U.S. version uniform and her Japanese version glasses. The remake is more based on the U.S. GBA version with some of the Japanese stuff in it.

Domino loses her gun in the CO power animation cut in. Billy loses his handgun entirely, same for Kikuchiyo and his katana.

One of the first things I noticed when the game was first revealed almost two years ago was Grit/Billy's hat, which was the cowboy hat that was in the Japanese version and in his official DS art, but not in any of the US (or North American) localized games.

@@timepatroltrunks8276 To be fair, Kanbei having a fan for his COP better fits the samurai theme as fans were used to rally troops and direct them.

I’m looking forward to playing these games again. I used a voucher to purchase. I used the other voucher on Tears of the Kingdom.

I love how they needed to repost the video cause they messed up Sami's day to day powers.

I'm so hyped for this game. Loved them on the GBA and I played through the DS games; Day of Ruin was my favorite for it's dark aesthetic. I'm kind of glad this got delayed because I was lukewarm on it before but the more I've seen it and the more Fire Emblem I've played the more I am excited to get back into Advance Wars. Making maps is really fun and when you dont have to worry about individual characters staying alive it really changes the strategy a lot. Great soundtrack in these games too; I appreciate the new arrangement here with real instruments. The original has a lofi charm to it but this seems like a faithful remake of the originals. The art style has also really grown on me.

Looking forward to this, particularly AW2! I really hope though that a decent online mode is in store for us (even if not at launch). This is turn based so it’s perfect for even those with less capable connections. Larger maps, online matchmaking (believe it or not, many of us don’t have “friends” on the Switch), and even 4 player battles would be very much desired and appreciated!

Didn't they have Super Powers on AW2? Hyper Upgrade, Max Strike and Victory March if I remember correctly. Are they come back too? If Strum is playable and the Super Powers aren't he's gonna be at a massive disadvantage...not really dudes OP anyway.

@@squidkid9310 Yeah, as much as I can't stand Fire Emblem for taking AW's stage, if this game does sell well, it can show Nintendo there is a market for it again. I just wish we were in the timeline where Advance Wars got as popular as Fire Emblem is nowadays. Having that many reps in Smash Bros would've been great.

I can help a bit. Eagle and Flak share the same VA: Sungwon Cho. He has a KZread channel by the name ProZD and has done plenty of voices for a while now. 3 great examples are FL4K from Borderlands 3, Vaseraga from Granblue Fantasy and the squirrel from GOW: Ragnarok. (I know the name but can't spell it for the life of me, so deal with it.)

Funny thing happened to me two days ago with this game. I went to Best Buy and was browsing through the games. Didn't see anything I liked, so went up front and asked if they had any indie games back there. They know me by know, so one of the guys brought out 3 "indie" games. One of which was this. I said I wanted it and the guy proceeded to ring me up. I was licking my chops, thinking I'm taking the day off playing this. He tried 3 or 4 times and his system wouldn't let him complete the sale. Finally, he said, "I just checked and the reason it's not letting me complete it is because the game isn't due out till Friday. My friend went limp. I said to myself "oh well, guess I'm waiting till Friday".

They fixed sami's informations!

Indirect combat unit should be able to return fire against other indirect combat units once within their range.

@@danielevans7439 No joke I did not like Eagle in aw1 when I was young. I did not like most of his missions in campaign. The one mission he teams up with you in and he immediately dies. And your reward for playing his missions with the weakest co for campaign is an even harder final mission after the final boss.
