She Dares Live: Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer Survivor

Stage 4 pancreatic cancer survivor documents journey. I share my journey of overcoming metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma, initially misdiagnosed as sarcoma. Despite facing unresectable cancer and metastasis to the liver, my story is one of hope and resilience. From the first signs of trouble on May 10th to undergoing 2 biopsies and starting chemotherapy on July 19th, my journey is marked by perseverance and a commitment to exploring alternative approaches. By embracing changes in diet, exercise and new perspectives on healing from July 15th onwards, I've navigated various phases of my approach towards achieving nearly cancer-free status. This channel is documentation of my journey; my video journal. See Facebook links, and share your own recovery story on the Facebook group.

    Interesting video Lucy. This is why I chose the carnivore diet. It's a total elimination diet therfore giving the body time to heal, well thats the theory anyway. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh saying "theory" as like I've just posted on the video of them missing your cancer and size. I've shrunk my spleen from 15cm to 13.3 and they said it would never reduce. It's obviously doing something to the body and my stools are completely back to normal. My recent blood work is very good (one or two markers out of range) but nothing to worry about. Overall I feel great. I get the odd day here and there where I feel out of sorts so to speak, but overall I cant complain. One thing I did do wrong last night was eat late. I make sure I NEVER eat after 6pm, but last night for some reason I eat around 8.30 ish.... Big mistake. Up most of the night with acid reflux and now left with brain fog and a banging headache. Be warned guys...... Bloody awful feeling !!! 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️🤪🤪

    @@sharonmarks2961 Bizzarely Sharon I'm NOT diabetic. My blood work is on point and I live a fairly normal life apart from the odd days here and there when I feel out of sorts (like today) I fast a lot. I Intermittent fast every day and only eat the one meal a day. I start prepping food around 4pm and finish everything by 6pm. So that's around a 22 hour fast per day. Because I ate late last night I'll skip food altogether today and maybe tomorrow, just depends on how I feel as I rarely get hungry. Food wise my diet is very basic. Mainly I eat Beef, Lamb, Chicken, Butter and Eggs. Snack wise it's usually Beef Jerky and Ghee Butter. 50 grams of Jerky and 50 of Ghee. I have a high saturated fat content in all meals in the form of fat from the meats and from added Ghee and Wagyu Beef dripping. This keeps my stools soft and easy to pass. Hope this helps. Much love, Moonie X

    Not sure if I've posted this before, could have been elsewhere. Anyway I've had a similar experience with my liver. They scanned my liver, pancreas (MRI) and told me my pancreas was chronic which we already knew. The report said my liver was "very fatty" and suggested I went on a low fat diet (which I didn't) and there were no other concerns. Myself and partner read the report together and I told her there isnt NO WAY my liver was just fatty. My stools were irregular shaped and pale in colour. Had been for over a year. I told my then specialist (so called) about my concerns and he was insistent everything was fine with my liver. Your blood works just fine he said. Stick with the low fat diet (I didn't) and the liver will repair 100%. His words not mine. Fast forward twelve months to my next MRI. After almost begging them to look closely at the liver, the report come back exactly as I was expecting, liver cirrhotic. How could they have missed this ? Not only that I have portal hypertension, tortuous portal vein with varices, enlarged spleen at 15cm (of which I've reduced to 13.3) and they said it would never reduce in size. Varices in the stomach and oesophagus. How could all of this been "missed." It's literally unbelievable. I'm now with another specialist who I feel more comfortable with, but like the other "specialist" their literally clueless about diet. I get it. Their specialist's in their field and not dieticians. They only regurgitate old rhetoric about diet which appears obvious for something "fatty." They couldn't be anymore wrong.

    While I agree that the ultra-processing certainly does it's part in slowly eroding metabolic health over the years, doesn't it make also equal sense that through it's processing and thus hyper-palatability it increases general energy uptake, thus contributing to weight gain, prolonged obesity and thus general energy toxicity? In other words: Besides the metabolic pathways, simply eating to much and generating oxidative stress for your system by having too much body fat seems to also contribute to this - what are your thoughts on this?

  • @SheDaresLIVE
    @SheDaresLIVE2 күн бұрын

    Hello, I think that’s a very interesting point. I agree that the smaller the particles of food that you eat are - for instance 00 pasta flour is tiny v wheat germ is the whole grain if you take wheat as an example - the more energy your body releases out of the food. However, I’ve been experimenting with my kids and husbands food recently. If we made homemade pizza dough with organic 00 flour and all organic toppings, the same size as one from a supermarket, the kids and my husband LITERALLY CANNOT EAT IT ALL. I end up freezing a good chunk of it. Homemade bagels for them, same story, if we ever bought bagels from a supermarket, they would have one and then want another one straight away. My son cannot eat more than half of a homemade bagel, my daughter and husband can have an entire one for lunch and that’s it. So… in response to your first point, yes I think a greater refined grain can lead to more energy release but if it is genuinely homemade organic without emulsifiers etc in it, I think your body recognises it as food, and says I’m FULL enough now! So I think homemade organic real food even with a refined grain doesn’t lead to weight gain or obesity because your body stops you. I think being overweight and carrying fat above your perfect BMI is unhealthy. This is because I think your body is making fat to store toxins and try and protect you. If you eat just real food, I think it’s very difficult to get fat because you stop eating and there are fewer toxins to store if it’s organic and homemade with no emulsifiers and only cold pressed extra virgin organic oil. I lost a lot of weight on my diet and I liked that because it really enabled me to see clearly where the inflammation was. I think if you are just eating whole foods, it’s very difficult to be fat. I think I’m trying to say, I don’t think whole real foods have hyper palatablility because they come with a built in off switch. I think that’s my view. Interested - let me know what you think.

  • @AutumnSonderness
    @AutumnSonderness2 күн бұрын

    @@SheDaresLIVE no question - whole foods are more satiating and thus, you tend to not go over your calories! The hyper-palatable stuff usually is also the hyper-processed stuff. There ain‘t no creme-filled cookie trees in the wild, sadly haha

    @@AutumnSonderness although I was also thinking it is seasonally right to build up some fat in the summer and autumn (but not to the level of obesity) so that this can be used up in the winter, when we should be having less food generally available. This is a great video and it helps prove everything I've been telling a few of my friends that just because it says plant based doesn't mean it's healthy. I think companies are now using the term "plant based" as a marketing scheme since more and more people are taking control of their health and watching what goes into their bodies. This is why it's important to read labels and do research.

  • @SheDaresLIVE

    @percydays hi percy, hexane is not required to be labelled because it is used in a process and isn't an actual ingredient. The regulation of hexane is all wrong - food technology, just like computer technology, often runs ahead of the law. But we should all be approaching those who have a platform to change it, like our elected representatives and in my view the Vegetarian and VEGAN Societies who could effectively campaign to change this. I searched for hexane on both their websites and found nothing. Hope you are doing well. Xxx

    hello, the enzymes are Creon (prescription medication), enzymes which are produced naturally in your saliva etc by chewing, and also serrapeptase. I may share the supplements in future but I'm not sure whether it is the right thing to do, and also I'm wary of the experience of other youtubers with cancer channels who said they were shut down or had warnings after sharing their stack. I don't think taking a load of pills is going to sort you out on its own anyway - you need to put in the groundwork on diet first (and exercise really) and if you haven't done that taking the pills could even be dangerous imho. Nevertheless if you look at my Feb 2023 video (where I got rid of two metastases) I did summarise a list in there. Wishing you very well, Lucy

I had a similar issue Private hospital that I was lucky to be on a trial with were seeing my tumour shrinking but the NHS were saying it was growing, in the private sector each report was done by the same radiographer in the NHS it's our sourced so no consistency. My oncologist took my private scans to an MDT and had a local radiologist look and compare my old scans and agreed it had shrunk. If my mental positive strength hadn't been where it is this could have caused me a real downward spiral. Scans and opinions are just a small window of the overall picture. Wishing you so much ❤❤

Unfortunately I'm loosing weight rapidly and I am considering reintroducing some bio animal protein like chicken fish. What is your take on this?

  • @SheDaresLIVE
    @SheDaresLIVE19 күн бұрын

    A few thoughts a) use your BMI as a guide. I lost 15kg during my first year since diagnosis but I had it to lose and I think that fat had a lot of stored toxins which had to go in order for me to heal. I had to rebuild every cell made out of good pure things. I ultimately now stay pretty stable and it bumps around a bit depending on the season. b) you need to eat a lot by volume if you are eating a vegan whole food no processed diet. Out of being vegan or eating no processed food, eating no processed food is by far the more important. I try to include grains, roots and beans/legumes in every meal (though I don’t stress too much if I don’t get one of them) because it bulks my food out and fills me up and that’s important. I think I also need this vegetable protein - and I did also add nuts in at breakfast time - to make sure I got enough protein. Protein is also very important for enzyme production. C) One question from a slightly different angle - are you taking Creon? Otherwise you may not be metabolising whatever it is you are eating. As you have pancreatic cancer it is likely you have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency so I’d also check you are taking this at an appropriate dosage if you are losing weight. Those are my thoughts… but I got to where I am by doing what I felt was right for me, so ultimately I think you know yourself best just like I did. Wishing you well. Xxx

I lost a lot of fat also, about 15 kg since the starting of the journey, but I'm a bit worried for weight loss as the oncologist said that we need to maintain the dosage of the chemo and also keep a healthy weight. Of course that I'm eating very clean, as you said, but was considering introducing some bio animal protein, limited. Of course processed food and sugars and other stuff are out of the question. It would be nice to write a recipe book of all the things that I ate that I think were really tasty and helped me get well, but I think I'd need a lot of help to do this and I am fairly busy doing all the things I do to stay alive. @thetruthergirls I don’t know why but it doesn’t seem to do the captions automatically for me anymore. The ideal would be for KZread to generate them and then me to correct the typos, but this doesn’t seem currently an option. With regard to the purpose of the channel, I know my story is important and potentially a game changer for many people. I feel like cancer slumdog millionaire and that my whole life was leading up to achieving this (probably need to make a video on that one day). I love the engagement I’ve had with people that have found my story. I feel like the channel has helped me find my tribe. However, I need to stay true to documenting my own story. I feel a bit like an artist when people say, I would like your pictures more if they had more blue or trees in them, but all I can do is make the videos that make me happy and reflect my journey to me. I like watching them back myself. The music was a big part earlier on, and I spent a long time picking the right tracks and words that really expressed my emotions. However, negative feedback on how people didn’t like the music (probably not helped by my amateur video editing) really tarnished my experience of posting them a bit so now I don’t put any music on at all. Which I don’t feel especially happy about. So, your feedback is interesting and I note your huge number of followers, (104k wow!) but I guess if people want to watch they will and if they don’t because of the sound or the visuals, then they don’t. I think being a KZread creator with squillions of followers when the channel is really my own diary and so personal is something I haven’t fully considered all the pros and cons of for myself and my family. Is it even possible to consider all the pros and cons? For the moment, I just make the videos and I’m happy if others enjoy them too and it opens their minds to a different way of thinking about cancer. I have an obligation to do that because it gives other people the opportunity to help themselves, and I’m paying it forward from the people I found about about when I was sickest. But I’m not sure where making this part of my life so public will take me or my family, so I’m just leaving it up to the universe, which I find generally has my back. I definitely could learn a lot from you though and congratulations on the success of your own channel. X

The strange thing is that the doctors have not tested me for c19 or pankreas amylas.. i have left a stool sample,, but the last doctor was in a hurry and just did a simple blood sugar test.. I had only eaten a small bowel of oatmeal in the morning and a not ripe banana 1.5 hours before the blood work so I would not expect a high blood sugar.. I wish you all the very best in your journey against this disease. I have watched some of your videos, perhaps to late, my beloved 84 year old Father lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on March 29th, 13 months after diagnosis. He had 2 drug chemotherapy which we accompanied with wheatgrass juice, turkey tail mushroom extract, turmeric etc. We think it helped minimise the side effects but ultimately the chemo ceased to be effective last December and led to a rapid decline. Hi again, I hope you're not too busy. I wanted to ask, what dietary habits, exercises, yoga routines, or any other practices do you believe were most effective in combatting SPECIFICALLY this malignancy in the liver?

  • @SheDaresLIVE
    @SheDaresLIVEАй бұрын

    my answer has to be set in the context that I think the liver is in many ways the most important organ. If it had anything wrong with it, it will come out some other way in your body so paying close attention to small signs elsewhere (bloating, haemorrhoids, yeast infections, the list is nearly endless) and acting to relieve those symptoms through addressing your liver would be my plan A. In my case, I had liver metastases and I knew I had a lot of toxins running through my body that my liver needed to clear like chemotherapy drugs, and also dying cancer cells. Key things I did were modify my diet and lifestyle to ensure that I had minimal additional incoming toxins that needed to be cleared. Exercise helps your body get clear of all toxins so I did my 10,000 steps every day. I even did this during chemo and think that was probably the most critical time to have done it. I took a lot of carrot juice in particular in the periods after chemotherapy (I could not do smoothies which made me vomit!) as this makes your liver very slippery and makes it easier for the liver to expel dying cancer cells and chemo drugs. Drinking 2 litres of water a day is also a key thing. Discovering the yoga routines in the liver video I made were brilliant as the twisting and squishing of my liver really helped with the pain in my liver - although to date it has not yet shown on the scan. You can regenerate or regrow your entire liver which I think is amazing. I have a friend who had a huge percentage of his liver covered in metastases and operated to remove one half. It grew back. He then operated to remove the other half. Metastases in liver almost completely gone. Not many surgeons would agree to do this but he did find one privately and that has been working for him alongside chemo for a number of years. Your liver is good at growing back so it's about ensuring you stop any excess additional toxins coming in - some are inevitable and chemotherapy drugs can be beneficial! - and allowing your body to heal. Hope this helps. First stage is working out how your liver is affected though and that's a tough one because it means looking at all those small things, your blood results and doing the detective work. Hope this helps. X

    @@SheDaresLIVEThank you so much for your thoughtful response and the time you took to provide it. I really appreciate your insights. In my dad's case, the chemo is not an option anymore... it wasn't working on the metastases (due a chemoresistance) on his liver (he got removed the main one on the pancreas' head) So, we are looking for seconds opinions, or try to keep it under control by diet and exercises. They doctor that saw my dad are saying that they can't do more (they used just 2 chemo programs) and no alternativies (surgery, radiation, etc) are avaiable. (again.. aaccording to them) Your words have brought me comfort and insight. Thank you again

    @@danielaisabel5096 yes that’s a very similar position as mine was. As I did it, he can do it too. It’s a lot more work to do it this way. I’d try and work on improving gut biome as a plan A - maximum diversity of plant based ingredients - but so many other things. What does your dad want to do? What are his thoughts and how does he feel about a dramatic change because that’s a key criteria. Creon is also very important. Xxx
