No Evidence of Disease - Experience is everything: my pancreatic cancer journey

In this video I look back to just after chemo, and my scans at that time. Two radiographs eres looking at the same scan but how could the results be so different. There was a reason and I examine it in this video.
In this episode, join Lucy as she shares her experience of what "No Evidence of Disease" means. Lucy has been living with inoperable stage 4 pancreatic cancer since May 2022. Lucy's story takes a compelling turn when her MRI results leave medical professionals confused.
Explore the intricacies of "no evidence of disease" (NED) and how two hospitals interpreted Lucy's scans differently, despite the same imaging data. Witness the complexities of measuring cancer, from discrepancies in tumor size to the elusive detection of liver metastases. Lucy's experience sheds light on the critical role of radiographers' expertise, with insights drawn from published research highlighting the impact of experience on accurate diagnosis.
As Lucy navigates her unconventional journey towards healing, she confronts doubts and celebrates victories, challenging conventional standards and embracing higher expectations. With unwavering trust in her radiologist's precision, Lucy finds empowerment in embracing a new life, far stronger than before.

Congratulations Lucy on beating this disease ! You are truly an inspiration of hope. My Brother was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer stage 4 with mets to the liver last September; chemo almost killed him and since late December we’ve been allowing the body to recover and heal on its own with vegan diet, supplementation and exercise. We have still a long road ahead. Currently we are working on healing an atrophic pancreas, which scares me more than the actual cancer. God Bless you and everyone facing this battle.

Thank you for this video, people need to understand that no evidence does not mean it's not there just it's so small it cannot be measured. I had a similar issue Private hospital that I was lucky to be on a trial with were seeing my tumour shrinking but the NHS were saying it was growing, in the private sector each report was done by the same radiographer in the NHS it's our sourced so no consistency. My oncologist took my private scans to an MDT and had a local radiologist look and compare my old scans and agreed it had shrunk. If my mental positive strength hadn't been where it is this could have caused me a real downward spiral. Scans and opinions are just a small window of the overall picture. Wishing you so much ❤❤

That is so interesting. I didn’t know that they were outsourced in the NHS. I feel lucky to have had the amount of diligence on my scans that I have done. I’m so glad to hear your tumour has been shrinking. Go Sharon!!! Xxx

@@sharonmarks2961Hi Sharon. How are you doing ? All good I hope. Have you decided on starting up your channel yet ? Don't be worried about negative remarks, I'd be stunned if someone did pass a negative remark given the position your in. It would be very interesting as like you I don't have private health care (big mistake on my behalf) so we have some common ground on that front. Let me know. Much love, Moonie x

Not sure if I've posted this before, could have been elsewhere. Anyway I've had a similar experience with my liver. They scanned my liver, pancreas (MRI) and told me my pancreas was chronic which we already knew. The report said my liver was "very fatty" and suggested I went on a low fat diet (which I didn't) and there were no other concerns. Myself and partner read the report together and I told her there isnt NO WAY my liver was just fatty. My stools were irregular shaped and pale in colour. Had been for over a year. I told my then specialist (so called) about my concerns and he was insistent everything was fine with my liver. Your blood works just fine he said. Stick with the low fat diet (I didn't) and the liver will repair 100%. His words not mine. Fast forward twelve months to my next MRI. After almost begging them to look closely at the liver, the report come back exactly as I was expecting, liver cirrhotic. How could they have missed this ? Not only that I have portal hypertension, tortuous portal vein with varices, enlarged spleen at 15cm (of which I've reduced to 13.3) and they said it would never reduce in size. Varices in the stomach and oesophagus. How could all of this been "missed." It's literally unbelievable. I'm now with another specialist who I feel more comfortable with, but like the other "specialist" their literally clueless about diet. I get it. Their specialist's in their field and not dieticians. They only regurgitate old rhetoric about diet which appears obvious for something "fatty." They couldn't be anymore wrong.

I think its amazing how categoric doctors are about the write-ups on scans and bloodwork when it's clear that they are not definite at all but just one part of any overall picture. And then someone else looks (perhaps with more experience) and sees something that was there all along. As the patient, I find it particularly soul destroying because you think are making progress but then to have all your starting points in historic scans adjusted, it just feels like you are being set back on your journey to wellness. Of course, you aren't because you've still made progress fixing yourself, but it just feels like the end goal of a completely clean scan is further away. The liver is the most important organ in your body and it is the only one that truly regenerates. I've got a friend who had bowel cancer and had one half of his liver (riddled with metasases) removed, and regrew it, and then repeated it with the other half. The levels of knowledge about diet in doctors is horrendous and frightening. We literally are what we eat. I hope your speen continues to reduce to a normal size. xxx

@@SheDaresLIVEThe liver is one tenacious organ with a remarkable regenerative ability, that's why I'm not giving up on mine. They say it's cirrhotic but functioning entirely normally, so what's happening there ? As you've wrote Lucy you can literally take one half of your liver away and re grow it. That's almost unbelievable but very true. This gives me hope with mine. I'm steadfast about it and I'm not budging with my opinion that I'll fix my liver. I may not get it back to full health but if it's functioning now in a cirrhotic state there's still time for it to heal. I know most people who read this will be thinking it's cirrhotic, you can't do anything about it. Bullshit I say ! The mind is a superpower and belief is a healer. If you believe and trust yourself enough you'll heal and heal I shall.... Sorry for the slight profanity there but I came over all emotional in the belief and FACT I'm proving my doubters wrong. As always, much love Moonie xxx

Hi Miranda, I don’t give medical advice I just document my story, but I would say my best advice is take charge and understand everything that is happened to you and then make fully informed decisions on what is right for you. Your life is in your hands. I’m feeling ok, but I’ve still got more work to do to heal. I will get there. X
