His car could have stopped had there not been that abondoned marshal station, which should never appear in the run-off area of ANY track, ANY!!!

Why the firemen do not use water to disperse, the methanol, alcohol based fuel, is vital as AII the cars were running on this fuel. The co2 powder is NOT the proper way to extinguish Swede and the fuel this he is engulfed in. This was a known fact at the time. Simply dowsing a bucket of water would have done more to put out or dilute the methanol than what these firemen are spraying on Swede. It is a sad and horrific mistake this. Who was in charge of Fire Safety at the 500 in 1973,,,,,,, Why has this never been properly talked about or even investigated,,,,,,,My Dad was a chemist, even he knew what was happening was NOT correct procedure to put out or disperse a methanol fire. Robert

I loved how fast old Tamburello was, but with this & Berger's crash in 1989, I always thought it was insane that even after these crashes. They never put gravel, tyre barriers or anything other than a concrete wall. If they had actually reacted to these crashes by improving safety, Senna might still be around

It is criminal how underknown and underappreciated Siffert was. Few know, but he was leading the 1970 Le Mans by an extraordinary margin before missing a downshift, ending his run. Siffert was always fast, but extraordinarily unlucky

You would have thought that after this the 3rd time in 5 years that something major would have been done to the Tamburello corner but no. This was followed by another and still nothing changed at that corner. It’s hard to believe that it took the death of a 3 times world champion who to many (including myself) was the greatest F1 driver ever for any action to be taken.

I was at the meeting at Brands Hatch that day. I was watching from the bridge that goes over to the country section and was just past mid way over the bridge. The cars came through the section at high speed and the surface both under and just after was pretty bumpy and the cars were bottoming as they climbed an incline to the next corner. As Jo came through his car like the others bottomed and veered violently to the left and hit the dirt bank and turned over and exploded into flames. It seemed pretty clear that something in the suspension had broken, I thought at the rear. I was pretty shaken up with seeing it happen and didn't watch motor racing for quite a while afterwards. I did report at the time what I saw to the authorities. John
