**DESCRIPTION**
Jochen Rindt went off at Tarzan during Friday practice. He said it was his own mistake as he forgot that he had new brakes and braked much too late. He still managed to get the pole position.

The brakes of that car where very fragile. It costed Jochen his life

Broken shaft when braking. The car was intentionally light weight ... and fragile
Sadly a day later Piers Courage would be killed in a fiery accident it was reported that one of the wheels strucked Courage in the head with knocked him unconscious or killed him instantly

Was this the same chassis he was driving at Monza?

I think yes….Lotus didn’t have that many 72 chassis at that time.

Not really. Emerson Fittipaldi told he and Jochen swapped cars during practice at Monza under crew manager decision Colin Chapman
