I believe this is the first F1 car that I saw in real life. We hurried to the track in Phoenix from Tucson Arizona. Nigel Mansell was rounding a corner on the installation lap of the 1989 US GP. I couldn't believe how low to the ground it was and how cool it looked. The race was crazy with V-12 F1 cars rounding a turn which is city intersection. Then they would blast away down the straight full throttle !

No, it wasnt :) This car never raced. They uswd a newer version of this - the 640 - in the 1989 season.

The F1-89 was a stunningly good looking car. And with that V12 it sounded like heaven.

Very good of Berger to wear the cardigan his nan knitted for him.

That's how you launch an F1 car. No expensive over the top media show. Plain and simple, F1 is about racing. It should turn back to that, instead of this corporate, politically correct elite marketing beast it has turned in to nowadays. Sorry for the rant. Thanks for your videos. I love them 👍

Agree.

Nigel was desperate to improve his excessively down to earth image, as in his past career he advertised for cheap watches, cheap cars (Austin Metro), London Bus, ate Burger (not Berger) and chips, dressed cheap etc. I think he had some success in his image after his Ferrari and 2nd Williams careers.
