Yeah, I've been looking forward to electroluminescent quantum dots for what seems like close to a decade now, though at the same time I'm pretty happy with my 4K IPS panel despite the backlight bleeding typical of this kind of display (I'm only aware of it with a static black background anyway). The thing that annoyed me most about flatscreens was the fact that they work best at native resolution, whereas CRTs didn't exactly have a native resolution. So 240p or 480i retro gaming content looked kind of bad. But I think just having a stupid number of pixels has taken care of this problem. 240p video on a 4K display looks great, even if you still can't use integer scaling for a full-screen image (the pixels are so tiny that even without integer scaling, things look sharper than they did on a CRT). Plus having so many pixels makes CRT filters look great for people that want that look.

I have a question about the high saturation of colors on modern tv's. Is it the case that the tvs aren't reading the color profile of the source material and mapping whatever it is fed to the full color gamut of the display (ie, they're not color managed), or is it the case that the manufacturers are purposely boosting saturation to align with what marketing tells buyers, ie, that the more saturated, the better?
@louispratsundrnning9710Күн бұрын
fascinating, thank you for exploring the history and reasons behind all this. I personally really hope e-ink will keep developing to be better, especially as it pertains to colors and cross compatibility. The android devices currently seem to really drain the battery compared to others, but they are the only ones that will let you take the advantages of amazon without having to sell your soul to them.

Is there a real video evidence of how a company picking and placing millions of physical LEDs for each sub pixel? To mass produce such thing somebody has to produce those micro LEDs in billions and provide them to a number of companies that produce millions of those displays and to supply millions of people around the world they would really have to be producing these screens in hours which means individual LEDs would have to be placed within nanoseconds to just make up a whole display.

Philips makes BY FAR the best electric shaver on the market. Their One Blade razor. I shaved my whole life with sensitive skin and nothing ever helped. Until i started using a philips electric razor. I can shave dry and its always comfortable and smooth. Yet finding replacement blades is often a serious struggle to the point i may have to consider another brand. Shame really.
