  You know, I think that everyone should see this. Just so that people learn to appreciate the love, effort, knowlegde and time that goes into those costumes. Anyone who goes to see aplay or musical or opera needs to not only appreciate the actors but the people behind them.

  As someone who is also a combination of sizes Bust > Hip > Waist; I always fit to the bust. The fit for the bust is more complex, and the waist can always be cinched in with darts, gathers or (whisper it) a sneaky self fabric belt.

  There's something so flattering about the walking skirts on us larger girls. Mine flares more at the hem but I love yours. The colour you've chosen suits you and looks fabulous with your printed shirtwaist. I've yet to make a shirtwaist. Well done, you look truly lovely ❤

  I would cut up a bra that fits you attach to the top , seems to me like lining it with strips of foam , then using foam to fill up ! With the foam you’ll get bumps thus the foam !

  I've also heard that vodka is a great fabric deodorizer, but it's actually not strong enough to kill germs. It needs to be at least 70% alcohol to disinfect, and regular vodka is only around 40% (some everclear is >70%!). Deodorizing alone is probably fine for costumes, but I've seen this tip also being shared for cleaning makeup and makeup tools, so just want people to be aware that vodka is not a disinfectant 😅

  I can confirm the vodka trick for cleaning costumes! Use the absolute cheapest vodka, the worse quality the better it works for some reason. Mix with water (I'm sorry idr the ratio) and spray on whatever costumes you like. We did this in my college costume shop

  And I concur! And I have been doing costuming for school and community theater for years and no one has enough budget to dry clean! Cheap vodka for the win. I don’t mix mine with any water at all because I don’t want it to spot. And if a show is running several nights, I will spray pits and parts as the costumes are being hung just to kill the germs that cause the smells.
