    Beautiful hair 💕💕. I was thinking about straightening my hair once a week. In your opinion, do you think it can cause more damage? If I do this I will lower the heat to 410 to 420. How many times do you straighten your hair?🥰I'm a straight natural but I've been taking a break from straightening my hair too.

    Hello, I have had periods where I straighten my week weekly. So a full wash day every 7 days. I don't think it will be as damaging if the hair is prepped well and maintained well so you can avoid retouching during the week with heat. When I was in high-school I straightened every week, every 7 days wash blow dry and Straighten, and then before school I would run the straightener through my hair every single morning. My hair was broken fried and limp. When I learned better I stopped retouching but continued straightening weekly, and the hair retained it's length cause it stopped breaking off. Keep up with lots of moisture and Strengthening products and ingredients. If where you live is hot and humid, keep that in mind when you start straightening. Even under the best prep and conditions, the summer humidity can make the hair swell and then our bodies are extra sweaty. Recipe for hair reverting. I'm outside alot everyday with my son so my straightened hair in the summer struggles. In the fall and winter I can keep it straight all week no issues. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Keep me posted. Keep deep conditioning too. Thanks for being part of the fam.😊

    @@shanikacorb Thank you for your advice! Very helpful. I would love to follow your hair routine. I'm the same with you. I need to wash my hair at least 1x a week. When I follow this routine, my wash days are easier to do and it helps my hair to have more moisture. Yes! I understand about having straight hair during the summer time haha. 😅The hair starts to revert and then I try to straighten the frizzy parts again which is not good for the hair because it's too much heat. That's why I decided to take a break too. I will watch your protective styling videos. For now, I've been blow-drying my hair on wash days and then putting my hair in flexi rods. You have a beautiful soul also! I love watching your videos. I will go through my no straightening break and will keep you updated about this routine.❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you 💕💕💕💕💕

    Thanks for watching. Routine has been the same. Using the same products in the collection. Still double cleansing and keep the conditioner in for longer. The process just takes alot less time. I usually spend more of the cooler months with straightened hair and the summer months a cut back the heat and do more protective styles . I find that the summer time my hair flourishes more co pared to the cooler months. I have been able to grow and retain more hair out a couple times in my adult life and I find as long as I keep things very chill and low tension there won't be too much breakage or fallout. ❤️❤️❤️

    Is it hot there in Canada? How will you maintain the straight style?

  • @shanikacorb
    @shanikacorb8 күн бұрын

    It's been super hot here in Canada. It was hotter start of June and then it cooled down a bit and then it got nasty humid here. I straightened my hair for this time cause I was going to a concert. The goal is to have the hair last a week or maybe 10 days max cause I am outside alot and if the sweat doesn't ruin the hair then all the wind and dust for sure will. I wrap the hair at night into a low loose bun and then I put a satin scarf on and then a satin bonnet on over top of the scarf. Wrapping the hair helps to flatten the strands back out and keep the hair softer and less dry for longer. ❤️❤️

    I do kind of look like her. She is really pretty. Thank you. The tymo is really nice. For whn you wanna maybe refresh a straightened style or add a little bump to the ends. It gets very hot. I can't use it without the gloves. Many cities now have wearhouse stores where you can pick up Amazon items. They had a tymo just like mine for less than $40. I paid a bit more than $50 for mine from Amazon. Inbetween the plates can get a bit gunky from product buildup, but a small cleaning brush or old toothbrush is great to get in to clean it. It's a nice addition to my heat tools collection. ❤️

    Hello thank you for the information.If the hair should not have moisture before straightening., how long should you wait after applying a heat protectant spray before you actually pass through your hair with the iron? Isn't the spray itself adding moisture? I should also add that I was told to put protecting on before blow drying, And then put another protectant on before pressing with the flat iron. Is adding that second round of heat protection where I'm making the mistake because I'm literally adding moisture to the hair again that's not needed at that point? In other words, should you only use the heat protection spray or oil before blow drying and don't add more when you pass through with the iron?

  • @shanikacorb
    @shanikacorbАй бұрын

    Heyyyy. Perfect question. When I first started using heat protectant spray again I would alternate between only applying it before blow drying and then sometimes again when putting the iron on. I didn't like the effect I got when I applied twice. Buttttt. I make sure to apply heat protectant very evenly on all my hair ( top to bottom, inside and out) before I blow dry. And then I'll wait atleast 30 minutes after blow drying before I go in with the iron. Gives my strands a chance to fully absorb the moisturizer and heat protectant without there being too much residual wetness on the outer strands. I think it's the wetness that can really make the sizzle sound and give the burnt smell sometimes. I have tried doing my hair with no added moisture or product in the blow drying phase and my hair gets frizzy, reverts faster, and has a weird static effect. From being tooo light. Double check that the heat protectant spray you use protects up to as close as possible the temperature you set your iron too. I have also noticed that some heat protectant sprays seem like spraying a fine lovely mist vs a super soaker water gun. And some have a higher water content and don't evaporate as quickly as others. Which spray have you been using? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thanks for watching.

    @@shanikacorb Thank you so much! I've been using Dark and Lovely Blow Dry Creme for the blow dry then IC Fantasia Heat Protectant Serum before the flat iron. I would let my hair air dry mostly before applying the blow dry creme and blow drying. Then, I'd apply a little serum to each section and flat iron right after applying. My iron was set at 375 and I'd wipe the plates before using but would still get the burned smell. I even noticed it after a silk press at the salon so I figured our hair just burns although I don't recall smells back when I was a kid and my mom would press my hair with the old school hot comb on the stove. I will try your suggestion to allow more time between blow drying and flat ironing and give the serum time to absorb. (Lately by the time I finished washing, conditioning, and blow drying, the whole day has gone by and I'm ready to press it and finish up and be done, LOL ). Thanks again for the advice I'm looking forward to giving it a try. 😊

    @@alewisscott I think you are using good products and you got a good routine. For sure give it more time between the steps. It's exhausting the entire day process. I used to always wash at night and then straighten the next day so I'd have that extra 16 houra atleast for my hair to dry and absorb and my arms could rest. When I was younger my mom was using Lusters Pink Lotion. Loved the smell in my hair before heat was applied but then after I smelt like burnt plastic going to school. Lol. Keep me posted. I’ll have to try this! I was always afraid of drying my roots again because I thought it would create breakage.

    I was afraid of that as well. But just a quick shot for a few minutes and the roots are all good. I 😊

    Good first attempt! It may be helpful to section the hair further; very coily or shrinkage-prone hair will be better managed in 4-8 sections. Instead of using a wide toothed comb, use a long-toothed one, like the one sold by revair, OR a detangling paddle brush, like the tangle teezer or Denman D38. Once each section is detangled, two-strand twist and/or clip it up until you're ready to blow dry. This will help keep the hair elongated and make blow drying much easier.

    Thank you for the tips. I really appreciate it. It's always great to try something new and learn. I have a paddle brush from conair that I really like in my hair and I think it would work well in very coily hair. More sections next time for sure. 😊

    Thanks so much! 😊 I was mosy nervous for the trim. Since I trimmed my own hair. I want to keep practicing hair cutting . So atleast I can help my loved ones with their hair when needed.
