Best time to set my silk press is right after it’s been straightened. The hair hasn’t fully ‘set’ so just sleeping on pin curls (no product added) is enough. Curls last all day, just redo them at night. For my Bantu knots, a light mist of water, and moisturizer or roller setting mousse on a blow out gives the look of wand curls.

I love it.i agree that manipulating the hair before it gets a chance to cool down fully is the best time. I have yet to try bantu knots. I thought my head was tooo big, but I would like to give it a try. With your linger hair, how many bantu knots do you usually do? Is it comfortable to sleep in?

I love this video!! I've been trying to find a method to heatless curls and have used bantu knots but the curls fall after a short while. I;ve seen other youtubers that use spritzs of water with your method but I think their hair may be relaxed...not sure, I'm afraid of water due to reverting and frizzing. Anyway maybe you can find a method that works for longer on us naturals. 😘

I'm sooo glad you mentioned the water. So funny story. With the third attempt. After I had wrapped my hair I went to shower and the shower head sprinkled water on the back of my bonnet before I had a chance to take the hose down. I panicked. It was like one second of water. But it soaked through the bonnet. I left it. And that's why with thr third attempt, the curls right at the back are more tighter and bouncy compared to the front. I think the spritz of water when the hair is stretched or straightened may be a secret key. Just a bit of water but then wrap the hair right away before the hair gets a chance to revert.i wonder if it possibly has something to do with the water helping to soften and make the strands more flexible to be manipulated. Cause the other 2 attempts I made sure not to let any moisture near my hair or let my head get sweaty. It's an interesting tool. I truly hate the fumes and smell of Hairspray but a spray probably would help the curls last to the end of the day. Sometimes I also think that doing something like this when my hair is straightened , won't last cause the hair is tooo straight and the heat from the iron kinda shocks the strands into staying straight unless more heat orrrr water is added after the fact to bring back thr flexibility and loosen up the stiffness. 😊 just a theory. But I wonder.

@@shanikacorb I might be brave enough to do some experimenting myself. 😉
